Jut picked up the new copy with the top 50 courses. St Andrews Beach is ranked #9 with the usual top 4. Mattew M is one of the 11 panelists. smile.gif

Thought Barnbougle would have placed higher than #5 Interestingly four of the panelists are designers, and they had BD at #10 average between the four of them, whereas all the other panelists had BD at #3 average with four of them rating BD #2. Pretty useless system when you can have such an obvious bias against a course for obvious reasons.

Strange also that Darius Oliver could not even fit Barnbougle into his top 50 blink.gif I read on GCA in an interview and he said BD would stun the golfing world etc, and yet it's not in his top 50...Bizarre...

just reading this quickly, does this tell the Aus Open organisers something about Moonah Links (Open) even the Legends course is rated higher.

I note that Moonah Links Legend is rated above Open on a top courses list again. Maybe the forum arkitekcha lads are actually onto something...

I've played 10 of them, so that's not too bad, considering the majority are in Vic.

troy, the rankings don't necessarily reflect what course is best for a tourney. Be interesting to hear MM's criteria - how methodical or "general feel" he was in his assessment and how different his personal views were from the end product.

The Legends is way ahead of the Open, even mates of mine who know less than me (and I know way less than the archie freaks) agree that the Open course is far inferior to the Legends Course. Only the great land that it's built on is keeping in the top 50.

I reckon that lists pretty fair on first glance, I always like NSW at 2 rather than KH but that's being picky. I thought Ramsay and Perrett's efforts were pretty poor though. Perrett rated his own courses far too highly, and Ramsay had Pelican ranked in the top10 from memory.

Talk about bias, if you are a course designer then you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Haven't played The Cut, but the general feedback has been very positive, including the clubhouse and other amenities.

Would they be disappointed with number 36?

Are you serious about matty m getting on the panel ?
If so, how so ?
Surely not another gig gained from being a finalist of the derby day fashions.

Which designer has the most on the list ?
I count 4 each for both Sharkie and TWP. No wait..5 for Shark.

Their ranking system is rediculous. To have 4 blatantly biased (Clayton is not one of them as his rankings seem to have no bias at all) archies is just plain stupid. The mag says that this bias will be offset by the others but that has not happened. Barnbougle would have been in the top 3 if those 4 were replaced by other golf enthusiasts (and if Darius Oliver had bothered to rank Barnbougle at all)

For Bob Harrison to have Nat Moonah at #3 and Barny at #13 is just stupid, as is Ross Perret to have Moonah Links at #6 and Barny at #11 is also plain stupid.

Romper,
You would love another compiled (but not published) list recently completed.

I agree things are not quite right. But then if they voted for someone else's over their own that'd be equally strange.

Should have asked the archies to exclude their own courses from their voting.
