Goldy have you played Waterford Valley before? Would you say Rosanna is about the same degree of difficulty?

Put that question to Rob, TB - I've played Rosanna a lot, and WV only a couple ot times. Therefore, I'm a lot more familiar with the layout, and know more about where NOT to hit it. At least in theory. Most people around here will also tell you that I find MOST courses difficult - more to do with the execution than the workbench.

Tiger, Rosannas practice facilities are quite good. As Golden Junket said, range isnt huge, but great quality with 4 or 5 different targets. 1 big practice green, and a smaller one behind the 10th tee. Short game facility looked very god. A wide 70 odd metre fairway to a reasonable sized green with 3 practice bunkers. as for Waterford Valley, Rosanna is tougher. Some bloody long Par 4's. Some very good holes. The new Short Par 4 on the back 9 is a ripper.I prefer the back 9 more, but the front still has some ball tearer holes, with some very big doglegs. Actually I reckon there is only about 7 or so straight holes. Waterford Valley is also under water as soon as a duck sneezes. The Ministry of Finance has said I can join as a normal 6 dayer, just have to sort a couple of things first. Entrance fee special expires on September 13th

Yeah If I join it will probably be a six dayer, I was contemplating the five but the whole point of joining a club is because I want to get a handicap and play in comps. Will you become a full member to take advantage of the discount? You don't happen to get days off on Mondays do you Rob? I work in Construction so I have every fortnight Monday off, we should tee up a hit if I get **** sorted out. I'll have to book a round in, in a fortnight with a director so he can nominate me, hopefully I don't play crap and he says piss off! Thanks for your info Rob and Goldy, much appreciated.

Was keen on the event but it clashes with another golf comp I entered, will play in the next one or when the OOM starts a fresh. Hopefully get my tax return soon so I can just pay the Rosanna fees upfront

I'm thinking of a course closer to home- considering Rosanna vs Heidelberg.

Any current thoughts?

Has much changed in the last 3 years at these courses?

Heidelberg is cheaper and has more membership options.

 

Has Rosanna completed all of Clayton's recommendations? Or is there further work being undertaken?

Biscuits...I've played both in the last couple of months.

 

Rosanna - good course condition, easy walk, only a couple of hills (up 9 and 18) and a pretty good setup clubhouse-wise. A little boring layout.

 

Heidelberg - more interesting course, pretty good condition...I still question it in Winter...VERY hilly. Good clubhouse. Questionable manner in which the place is run. Cheaper than Rosanna.

 

I enjoy playing the course at Heidelberg more than Rosanna...but it depends on how you go with the terrain. It really is a demanding walk compared to Rosanna.

As per Goldy.

I was a member at Heidelberg for 12 months. Left 6 months ago.

I hadnt played Heidelberg before I made my above posts.

I would play Heidelberg over Rosanna any day of the week.

'Berg is pretty hilly, much more than Rosanna, but not terribly brutal.
Conditioning is great, other than winter, it faired well this year, i hear.

If you are looking for a course in the east, have a look at Eastern. Only 5 months till the relocation, and the original course is fairly reasonable

Or you could come out to a dead set ripper like the Frog.

 

I live 10 minutes from Heidelberg, 20 from the Frog. It's worth the extra 10 minutes.

I've actually played Heidelberg (only once) and really enjoyed it. Was curious about Rosanna though -given the proximity.

I love in Donny and Northern is too far for me.

I was seeking somewhere within 15-20 mins (convenience factor).

Agree with Goldy and RobNewy. Heidelberg is a much better layout in my opinion.
Rosanna is much longer, but it's very much straight up and down.
Heidelberg is much more challenging with shot selection on a lot of holes. It can be a tough walk though, especially when it's hot.
