Topic: Ask Bruce / Please settle an arguement Option A. There is a par 3 at Brookwater that is 155m long and has a large drop to the green. Normally I would hit 7iron but have hit 8 (normally 130-140m) and hit to the back of the green |

Topic: Ask Bruce / Need help with a small embarrassing (golfing) problem...... Colonel Being a little round the waste I understand where you are comming from. My suggestion is to go and buy a pair of lycra running shorts and where them instead of the Reg Grundies when playing. I've been using them for years and don't have the problem anymore. If by chance you fire up after a game - cornfower, cornflower, cornflower |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Tiger's Bag Mau
In my dreams they are a low boring draw but in reality they are
high floating fades : Maybe a little exaggerated  but even if it is 10-15 it's still a F...ing long way. I read an article where Tiger said that as a teenager he used to hit a 5 iron something like 240 yards but as he got older he has changed his attitude of grip and rip to a more flowing swing that he could get the consistency. :!: |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Back spin It's a combination of all of those things plus the hardness of the greens that you play on.
Harder greens will spin less then softer greens |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Tiger's Bag He certainly hits the ball a long way doesn't he. I mean he hits a 5 irin 190m and that's the carry. Thats got to put another 20-30 meters on the roll. I'd love to be able to hit a 5 iron 210-220 meters. Why would he bend a 58° wedge to a 56°? Why not just get a 56° |

I would understand if you said that hitting the 250m drive or
sinking the 20 foot birde putt but taking shoes off the next best
thing to sex? :? I know it's an old saying but maybe you are
just not doing it right! |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Australia's Top 10 Courses for the year 2010 damo I'm a memeber of Keperra and didn't put it up as I'm very biased. I reckon it stands up to any course in Brisbane but thats me. Agree that Brisbane is better than RQ. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Australia's Top 10 Courses for the year 2010 Look I admit that I haven't played golf in the other states and I'm a Queenslander through and through. I might as Mathew has said showing my ignorance but I just don't get it. Why is it that Queensland courses (bar Brookwater) are never thought of when doing the lists? Surley courses like
The Glades are up there with the best of them. Maybe the guys who have played these courses could lets us know. I know we will never come up with a solution as rating clubs is such a subjective exercise |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Component Vs Name Brands Jarro I find myself in the same situation as you. The more I do research the more I'm tending to think of the component clubs. I was at the Oxley driving range the other day and they had another company similar to Bens there for testing. Had a hit with a couple of the irons and couldn't tell the differnce between my Brossnans and their clubs. I think that when I buy I'll be going with the component.
It is the fear of the 'unknowns' that push us away from
buying clubs that don't have the well known names. Reading this forum has dramatically changed my way of thinking |

Topic: Golf Talk / Most frustrating round of golf you have ever played..... My first monthly medal and I started with a 14 on a par 4 then 2 holes later had a 9 on a par 3. Lost interest and think I ended up with 110 playing off 20.
Once played a game and it took 5 1/2 hours to complete 14 holes
 . - Got stuck behind a group of tourist that
wouldn't let us threw. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Whatch Playin' That's New? Damo I think it is a great course. Having 3 nines played as 3 courses means that they can get 350 people through on a Saturday. I'm lucky because one of the guys who I play with lives close to the course so he can get out there on a Friday at put our names down. Before that I never a had a problem finding a single spot. You may have to wait until the middle of the week but you will always get on. As with most clubs it may have 1500 memebers but not all of them are Saturday playing memebers |

Topic: Golf Talk / Driver length - Few Suprises?? It does make you laugh when you read peoples review of drivers on forum sites when you see them saying things like "... bought new driver now hitting the ball 300 down the middle" :? How do they work the average. Is it only with Driver or does 3 woods and 2 irons count |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / A fresh look at Caloundra Jim and Henry I'm a little like Matt in that I don't read too much into the design of the course when I play and just enjoy the moment. I'm not saying that you guys don't enjoy the course as if you didn't why would you play golf. If that is the way you guys like playing a course then good for you Having read your posting I'm interested to know what you guys are looking for in the design. Does anyone think that there is the 'perfect' golf course out there?? I can't think of any? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / NICKENT CLUBS Ive got the Titianium Driver and the Steel 3+ fairway wood. I was able to try all the major drivers at the range all at once and found the Nickent the best of the lot. I found it similar to the TM 300 range. Every time I go to the driving range and there is a demo night I compare the demo to mine and I've yet to find one that I would change to. As for the wedges well I've got the 56° gunmetal and it looks and feels the same as the clevands but 1/2 the price. As with all clubs try before you buy. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Golf Course Architects - Hall of Shame G69 Agree with you about Gainsbourgh Green. You may as well hit 5 iron, 5 iron and 9. Kooralbyn - It's been a long while since I've played there but isn't the 190m the Back coperhead tees? I thought there was a members tee 20-30 meters further up. I don't see a problem for the back tees not having a bailout zone. Golf is all about your own cource managment. If you play a cource from the chamionship tees and are not long enough to carry 190m over water then thats the penalty and you will have to lay up. If there wasn't a social/memebers tee then that's a totaly different story. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Talk regarding Steve Waugh's position THis whole saga is once again the media whipping up a feeding frenzy. Steve Waugh is in the same position as Mark Taylor was in before the last world cup. I'm sure even the selectors don't think that Steve is not in the top 30 but they have decided that he is not what they want so don't bring him into consideration. I believe that the Sports Editor in Saturday's Courier Mail was suggesting that all this talk about him getting in the one day side will only help his chances of staying on as test captain. |
