Topic: Sports Talk / The Tiggie Train

Boys,

The tiges have an intra club praccy game at Casey Fields in Cranbourne very shortly. (either tomorrow or next Friday). Get the Judge to go and spy for us. Unfortunately, for me, both those Friday's I'm busy, or else I'd be there with bells on.

A return trip to Cranny for me would mean I could pull the flanellette shirt and moccy's out of the moth balls.

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Millionaires Club - Frankston

QUOTE: Jack @ Jan 10 2007, 01:43 PM

Very little info is available - maybe kingy can chime in with a few details. You can see the overheads on Google earth - its just to the north east of peninsula I think. Quite a spacious property.

Kingy - when are you taking me there for a game?????

I too know very little. The course is off Golf Links Rd in South Frankston, about a 7-8 minute drive from Peninsula. I've heard the following but not sure how much is true, and how much has been made up by people that claim they know what's going on there:-

Membership is very elite and most on the committee are elderly. They have a committee rule that you are not allowed on the committee unless you are under 70, however, there is a clause that if you are over 70 you can be sponsored onto the committee by another committeeman. So they all sponsor each other and the clique and rules remain.

Membership is anywhere between $400 a year and total cost of running the place for the year divided by however many members there are. That could get pretty exxy but not if your a millionaire.

I know many people in the Frankston area that didn't even know the course was there. Some even live within a kilometre. There is no golf sign out the front and the scorecard is very minimal.

The clubhouse is a weatherboard house with a verandah surrounding the front. Views of Melbourne from the verandah and the 1st tee.

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Millionaires Club - Frankston

First post in a while as I've had to relocate after splitting with the missus. Just moved in with a friend and when I walk out the back gate I'm on the 2nd fairway of the Millionaire's. He has playing rights and I've played there a few times.

Jack, the whole course has a Peninsula/Long Island look about it. Plenty of gums, tea tree, bracken fern rough, etc.

The thing that amazed me the most about the course is the greens. The greens look like they all opened yesterday. With the little amount of use they get, and that the old blokes can't get the ball in the air, there is no pitch marks. The fairways are in the Peninsula class, however are browning off at the moment.

1st -330m Par 4, slightly curving to the right.
2nd -300m Par 4, straight, slightly downhill, greenside bunkers right of the green.
3rd -122m Par 3, uphill (maybe 1 club)
4th -322m Par 4, straight, uphill (rated number 1), plays a lot longer
5th -473m Par 5, straight, downhill, fairway bunkers and dam left, picturesque.
6th -236m Par 4, straight, uphill, Mickey Mouse
7th -235m Par 4, dogleg left, high draw will get you there, Mickey Mouse
8th -437m Par 5, uphillish, moguls in driving area right side of fairway
9th -164m Par 3, I really rate this hole. Challenging.

At the back of the 9th green, between the green and the clubhouse is a massive gum tree and plaque. The tree was planted by the Queen in 1923, and is now roped off due to falling limbs.

The car park is nearly (99.9%) of the time empty. laugh.gif

I had a lesson from Kinghg last Thursday, he did not even know that he had coaching abilities until than.

But as with most famous coaches, once they stumble accross the right pupil - their future is sealed laugh.gif

Played stroke this Saturday and made sure that I'd followed Kinghg's script by the letter unsure.gif - lost 2 shots of my Handicap cool.gif

Anyone interested in lessons from Kinghg, contact his new Manager - Mr Ifonly. dry.gif

You idiot. laugh.gif

Are the lessons at MGA any good? Is it worth spending the extra cash for a Steve Bann lesson, etc?

Mr D, I had lessons with Tim Wendell at MGA when I first started golf. Half the price of Bann/Lynch but teaches their way. He was a decent no frills sort of bloke.

Here's a rumour I just heard:

Freo gain: Tarrant lose: pick 13 and Polak
Richmond gain: Polak, pick 13 lose: pick 8
Collingwood gain: Pick 8 lose: Tarrant

Can't see it happening myself.

Good rumour I heard.

Would Tyson Edwards from the Crows be a good each way bet. He ran 4th or 5th last year, and has only missed 2 games this year.
