I have been doing that for years, the funny thing is you go a couple of hours drive out of Melbourne and you can go on very good courses for $300-$500 a year.

I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and the prices aren’t any better in the mud belt, 3-5k just to join, 2k per year and a 4 year waiting list is the norm. Juniors at some of these clubs are required to pay the same as adults!!!

I play at a course in the East, less than 2 K to join which can be paid off and less than 2 K for subs, Cat 1, Juniors pay a lot less, 2 courses, 2 club houses, free practise balls daily from September, one course ranked in the top 50 in the Country.

Why is that too expensive?

Shepp, although there are some tasteless pics on the other site (I don’t know why some people are so immature!) they are protected and unless people request access to this area, none of the bad language or offensive posts can be read. I’m a CEO and I dont have any dramas looking at some boobies every now and again so why should it bother a cop or a baker or a candlestick maker, so long as they know what they are in for before they click on the links, there isn’t a drama and, as Flippy said, it’s not illegal. There are probably more people who access this site when they should be working that will get in more trouble than a 42 yo man looking at ‘The Top 10’ in his own time.

The rest of the site is offering what this once great forum did (aside from Bruces great stuff which you can still read/listen to here), some interesting reading, some great debates, some fun and a lot of like minded people sharing their views.

Like Fishy I wish that there was no need to have a new site but it seems people have voted with their feet. In 1 or 2 months time who knows what will happen. If you told me 3 months ago I would barely read anything on ISG I would have laughed at you! the main talk on these forums now is about equipment and swing talk and I don’t really get into that stuff so I don’t read it.

I would like everyone back here as well but if the regulars, a lot of whom are ‘real’ friends now, are at the golf forum, then I’ll be spending some time there as well.

Call me a heathen and feed me to the Corgi’s Liz but Coffee is the 2nd most obnoxious smell I can think of behind cigarette smoke.

Disgusting stuff, never had a cup in my life and don’t plan to, just the smell makes me want to vomit.

When we go away for a weekend and everyone goes to a coffee shop, I have to sit outside and the order will be something like 2 Lattes, 2 short blacks, a skinny cappuccino and a banana milkshake.

And as my luck would have it, I went on Wheel of Fortune and was champ for 2 nights, and both nights I spun up the coffee machine and a years supply of Coffee and won it the 2nd night, 6K worth. Sold it for $1500 from memory.

Horrible poisoness crap.

Aside from the fact I’ve been really busy, after a bit of the ‘fun’ has gone from this site, I’ve been posting a little less.

I really hope this forum returns to it’s former glory as I’ve really enjoyed using it for a long time (ala the 7K in posts)

Try to find friends, family, family of friends, friends of friends who are prepared to put you up for free in places you need to stay while you are attempting to get your card.

The Blade stayed at my place for a week or so and it was great having him around, I know my Son benefited from not only seeing the way he goes about his golf, his expertise on the XBOX was also a bonus.

My daughter, my Girlfriend and his Caddy could have done with some help in the garden though!

Seriously, take what ever help you can get, most people will want to do their bit so when you succeed, they can get great satisfaction out of knowing they played some part however small it may have been.

I would like to think that I would help but now I would think twice. If it was someone I knew I think I would react instinctively. I have in the past ‘stepped in’ to help and been part of a peaceful resolution but these days you never know what’s going to happen, to many wild drugged up no hopers who follow in the footsteps of some of the filth in the States.

Is anyone planning on playing in the Masters Games in Adelaide in October (5th to 14th) http://www.australasianmast...

I’ll be playing Golf on the 3 days on the 8th, 10th and 11th and having a splash in the pool on the 5th, 6th and 7th (50 free, 100 free and 50 backstroke…....I might scratch the back stroke though, it’s not as easy as I remembered!!)
