Topic: St Andrews Beach Interesting Article in today’s Fin review. 400 nervous members I’d say. Hopefully its stays afloat or the course stays in its current format, no matter who owns it in 10 years – it would be a tragedy to lose totally. Liz |

Topic: US Open Formguide Bruce, Maybe you had to shorten your form guide to accomodate the new size of the adds? I’m one who would have liked to see the extended version because most of us have a go at the three balls for each round rather than trying to back the tournament winner. |

Topic: US Open Formguide Gee Judge you hgave thrown in a few from left field there. I think the is some great value with many more credentialed players than those you have mentioned here. Howell is now no longer in the field and he apart there is hardly one here who I would consider a chance of contending. I do like Schwartzel and Moore as future stars and they could go well in terms of making the cut and figuring at certains stages as could McDowell and Curtis but I can’t get excited about any of them being in the hunt for a long time. I have redone that form guide as my original one was too long (I am told) and included most of the Australians. It might be slightly different ot the one you orginally saw. In terms of roughies it they could ever be referred to as that I like Stewart Cink and Steve Stricker who have both been playing well and have had some reasonable finishes in this event. At 100 to one I thought Stricker was good value to run a place. There are also some good odds for O’Hern who will grind his way around here and let’s not forget he finished 6th on the longest US Open course ever last year. Stephen Ames might also go ok around here at some rather juicy odds. Judge I’ll PM you the orginal and longer form guide for you to browse. Now how do I do that now. Maybe I’ll email it to you |

Topic: St Andrews Beach Things are going pretty darn fine, mr magoo. At least, i guess they are. I haven't been down there for several weeks on account of acute architectural poisoning following several corporate rounds at the potato farm. Alas, I tried to get out of them, but had no choice - it was either several rounds on the ocean course, or a single round at eagle ridge, so I swallowed hard and made the ultimate sacrifice. Just imagine, though, that poor bastard JJJ, who has to PAY for 2.5 monstrosities a year. Symptoms of acute architectural posioning include the inability to truly appreciate architectural merit, stunning originality and breathtaking routing, so clearly everyone on this site, apart from peanuts and my fair self, suffer from it. Maybe you can inform us all why work hasn't started? after all, you are the man in the know. you have a newsletter, at least. and why is that? shouldn't you stop tormetning yourself over a magnificent course club that you will never belong to? |

You must be reading a different newsletter to that of I. Mr Doak and crew are due to arrive in September to begin construction. Spraying out of the fairways will begin well before then. Why do you doubt that it will be available for limited play in 12 months? That gives them 3 or 4 months for construction, with grass planted on the first holes to be completed within that time frame, ergo, March-April next year could see limited play.
As to how many memberships... quite a few. Quite a few. |

I notice in todays official newsletter that the
"official" opening is on November 26. Things do move
slowly I must say.
We are also told that the Fingal course, weather permitting,
should be available for "limited" play in 12 months.
(What odds?) Apparently Doak is due to arrive in July to begin shaping. Andrew Beach should be salivating now. Anybody know how many memberships have been sold? A $5000 deposit will do the trick these days. |
