It’s Bostik 1222 Rubber Cement. See link.

Collins Industrial

Ben V at Serpell should know (or be able to supply) but I’d try your nearest Bostik industrial solvent outlets or these guys in SA & get some shipped to your door. It’s only $30 odd bucks for 4 litres. You could give Ian at Collins a call & ask if he knows a Melb based supplier.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Tipping Shafts?

Tipping to achieve desired flex: 1” off the driver shaft & 2.5” off the 3 wood assuming they’re both uncut to begin with.
2.5” is a fair whack to chop off the parallel tip section for the 3 wood so I’d suggest trying 2” & leave the club a half inch long & test it first . That way you have a margin for adjustment

I still rate the Sonartec forged wedges & you can pick them up new for a song on Fleabay now they’re out of production. I recently picked up 4 of them (52,54,56,58) for $200 new.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ok put my Buner Tour through the ringer today - results?

was looking at the burner again :) today, 9.5 stiff ( I thought it was 1 degree closed) the price has dropped to $280 and apparently they stop making them in about 2 months, close to buying one.

Dave has me rethinking now.

Interesting that the 10.5 Tour hits lower than the burner 9.5!

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Heavier shaft is the culprit here.

Topic: Golf Equipment / YES! Wedges

I bought the 52 & 56 Degree from greg nicholson….. They are a fantastic club but I would warn off anyone from buying from this store, The price of the club is 89 pounds, that’s fine. what they dont tell you is how much the freight cost is going to be, roughly around the same price as the club, plus an extra hidden charge 2 weeks after I had paid for the clubs of 35 pounds, for fuel levy or some shit like that, Of course none of this is marked down on your invoice when you get your clubs, I thought they had stolen from my credit card so I rang the UK to speak to them, after 2 more days they sent me an email explaining the extra costs..
Always read the terms and conditions I suppose!

That’s f!@#$g criminal. How did the clubs arrive….Gold winged carrier pigeon?

Topic: Golf Equipment / Mizuno swing weight

Half inch over what mate? Iron lengths have been creeping for years. Are they the same length side by side?

It’s wierd about the weight. You would think it’s the shaft as the heads should be within a couple of grams & Mizzy do tip weight their irons to achieve close sw tolerances.

The S300 comes in at around 130gm uncut & the flighted light is not 27 gm heavier (nor on Mizunos shaft list) I can guarantee you.

However Mizuno do knock out different head weight irons through their custom fitting program so it’s possible they are the heavy heads instead of a lighter set on a longer taper shaft bringing the weight up I think an email to Mizuno is in order to ask WTF….

Or pull the head son your six irons & weigh them…

Did you buy them new or second hand?

Topic: Golf Equipment / Mizuno swing weight

Is it because they’re half an inch longer thus adding a couple of SW points?
Sure you can reduce the sw in a number of ways:
A: Use a heavier grip or put some lead tape under the butt of the grip ala Nicklaus.
B: Cut the shafts down.
C: Change to a lighter shaft.

If you still have you old clubs & a gram scale (or a friendly post office worker) compare the lengths & then the static weight of your 6 irons. Let us know what you find.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Spot on TimLDG!

That’s good news.

With the next one think about what you need it to do. Hit a lower ball for into the wind grid days or go higher for downwind grid conditions?

I don’t think you’ll hit the 50” any further than the 49” but see how you go. It may fly fractionally higher.

I’d leave it at 1 1/2” & test it just in case you decide to butt cut it later or tip it some more. Always err on the side of leaving yourself room to alter it from either end IMHO..
Remember too that you are adding to the stiffest part of the shaft with that last extra inch under the grip so tipping 1/4” it isn’t going to affect it significantly feel or flex wise it’ll just feel heavier to swing.

I’d be interested to see how you hit the 49” butt trimmed to 48”...what’s it sw at now?

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / club maintainance

I noticed on the weekend that the head on my 7 iron has worked loose. The shafts are steel, and I generally maintain all my own equipment, is there a prefered adhesive for this kind of repair or is it best to cut ones loses and take it to a pro to repair. What would be the best way to rectify this problem

If the ferrule is still in place then you can clean out the hosel with sand paper wrapped around a drill bit & sand the shaft tip & use 24 hour araldite.

Topic: Golf Equipment / New Irons / Fitting?

Firstly. 1.5” short for a 6’ tall person is a lot off the length unless you have some gorilla, knuckle dragging, long arms thing going. Are you sure this is correct?
Any pro/fitter worth his salt will be able to adjust your loft & lies once you have the irons. No issue there.
I would suggest buying a set of irons that you have at least seen/hit in the flesh unless you already know your specs. You don’t need to hit the whole set, a six iron should do it.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Loft / lie machines?

Not that big or bulky but you need to have one properly bolted on a stand attached to a concrete floor for stability. It’s a PITA for the average Joe. You’re better off finding out what your local pro drinks & ply him with that for your 6 monthly check up.

The fitting index is pretty good but doesn’t yet have some of the more popular shafts listed. Make sure you download & read the DSFI listings section (chapter 5 at the bottom of the linked page). A great tool to help with self fitting & understanding how it all works.
I also have a very handy swingweight approximator excel file that works for all clubs in your bag & is pretty accurate if anyone wants a copy.
