Been practicing the flat swing indoors. No balls yet, just trying to get the movement drilled in. It does feel more connected because you’re using the body vs the armsy swing which relies on too much timing. Plus it’s also good for OTT players since the club head is coming from more inside, which also tilts the left shoulder up. One movement creates two nice effects. But can you actually go too flat though? Seems the right elbow has a limit to how much it can bend in towards the target line, forcing the hands further away from the body. Too much and it feels unnatural.

The short game area at Kingston Heath is a big example of that. It is awesome and variety of so many shots to work on just by its design would have kept me there for hours if I had access to something like that growing up

ditto. First time i saw it was at the masters. Money well spent whatever it cost the club. That and the range is an amazing facility.

Golf is a fun sport to play but boring to watch. Except for the last few holes on a sunday when the leaderboard is tight. I don’t think your average non golfing mug gives two hoots on the shot trajectory or the yardage.

If someone was smart they could grow the grass offsite somewhere, just bring it in and relay whole areas when needing, just like the drop-in cricket wickets.

Too costly i’d expect. Plus you’re talking about an area much larger than a cricket pitch.

It’s all relative I guess but I would have thought $100 to play arguably the second best course in the country is reasonable value.

To each their own. Right now I got other things I need to spend $100 on. Hard to earn, easy to spend…. (too easy infact).

Even for a driver? Don’t some guys hit up 1 or 2 degrees. Better to hit up than down…no?

Good grass ranges are a bit of a pipe dream. No sooner does one pop up it does not take long for it to be chopped to hell.

I wonder if a private range, membership only would be more viable. Section off areas of the range as no go zones while grass re-grows. Of course it would have to be of decent size.

The only thing I want from a range is grass. The good stuff like you get from a fairway. And a decent short game area with bunkers.

Crown Casino hat deal for a few years was great to be involved with.

Was that during the time Crown got busted for signing up the weekend leaderboard players?

Amateur team worked with Noel Blundell when I was going thru that era.

Blundell seemed to get mentioned a lot in the 90’s when players won. But you don’t hear players praise their sports psych much these days.

$50K last place is pretty amazing. The dough must feel like monopoly money to the top ten.

Is there any benefit in a person having lessons if their physical condition is not prime for swinging correctly? eg. lacking flexibility and/or strength in the right places.

Interesting. Growing up and trying to learn the swing, my left foot would kick out like that but when I looked at pro swing’s they remained flat footed on the left (like your regular swing) which made me think I was doing it all wrong.
