229 is a good price...sounds like you have a good deal

the stock shaft was not a dismal failure but was not fantastic, but considering you got a upgraded graffalloy shaft...it sounds good

was it new or second hand?

Brand spanking new I also purchased the z series 5 wood around christmas time and am equally impressed with it biggrin.gif

Now on the hunt for the 3 wood cool.gif

QUOTE: grumpy_dog666 @ May 30 2005, 10:45 AM

correct me if i'm wrong, but the Z350 has a 350CC head and the Z375 had a 375CC head.  i have hit these two clubs and are an excellent buy.  clean look at address and quite good performance.  stock stiff shaft was a letdown but that is not hard to rectify.

you should also try the more recent srixon equipment which is much better than the XX10.  the W-302 and the W-403AD are the current line of drivers and are good performers...

Correct Grumpy it is 350cc I didn't try the other Srixon's but am very happy with what I ended up with, mine does not have the standard Tourstage shaft it is a Graffaloy it seemed to me to be a little stiffer then the standard shaft

I paid $229 for it

Topic: Golf Equipment / Tourstage Z350

Did the unthinkable the other week and loaned my deepbore to a mate who then returned it with a huge dent in the top luckily he decided to buy it (not that I wanted to sell)

I then went on a search for a driver I got serious this time and went to a range in Canberra and tried the TM 580, R7, Launcher 400, XX10, Big Bertha over a few days and found the Tourstage the best of the lot.

I was really disapointed with the Callaway and Srixon the 2 TM's were in with a show but I don't think the shafts suited me. I consistantly hit the Tourstage with a good ball flight and the same distance if not a bit longer as the TM's.

So I settled on the Tourstage z350 with a Graffaloy Stiff @ 10°

Anybody know anything about these?

Nike Pro combo Irons

3 to pw
Nike speedstep stiff steel

These are 9/10 condition used for maybe 10 rounds by a fellow club and only a couple of rounds by me

Reason for selling I have not been able to use them due to our fairways now being pretty much bare dirt and they would just be ruined in a matter of months plus the wife wants me to get rid of some of my clubs from around the house.

the only flaw with these is some of the little nike emblem on the end of the grips are missing purely cosmetic.

$400 ono + postage

Can personally vouch for Tim he is not a rip off merchant I have purchased several clubs off him and he advised me on several clubs that suited me better then what I originally wanted.

I know this what salesmen are supposed to do but here is the catch they were less expensive.

Bite the bullet go  ahead buyit  you will like it laugh.gif laugh.gif

IMO the best value driver in the market I have used one and they are a good solid driver, very forgiving and long.

I also have an SMT deep bore although I am happy with it I cannot honestly say that it is any better or worth the extra $$$$

is that with the Graffaloy Blue shaft?

Tim is a great seller and will look after you I have purchased clubs from him and he goes out of his way to help. laugh.gif

I am sure that you will get plenty of advice now that you have taken the link to your website out of your profile

As for advice go and see a clubfitter to find the right clubs for you.
Unfortunitly as you are in the Uk I have no idea
There are some good fitting systems out there by Ping and Callaway maybe they could be a good option for you I am sure the other guys can help you as well

Topic: Golf Equipment / SMT Deep Bore ....not so hated now!!!

Adam Scott has a 120mph Swing Speed and averages 265m on the PGA Tour wink.gif

Adam scott also hits a hell of a lot Fairways more then me further to that I would be suprised if he was swinging at 80/85% I am sure he could pick up a lot more distance if he wanted.

My average would be a lot less if you took into account bad drives missed fairways etc but my good drives are 250/260 I wish I could do them all the time, I have hit longer but have also hit a lot shorter laugh.gif laugh.gif

so Ballbag I am pretty sure that you are questioning if I can drive the ball that far or not :?: :?:
The truth of the matter is most on this forum will never know if what people write is fact or fiction 8O 8O
but what I write is true so to quote "Ripley"

Thats the thing Mau it doesn't feel much stiffer then the Rifle yet feels a whole lot smoother???
All I can guess is that the deep bore on the SMT changed the characteristics of the Rifle in a big way????

I don't know but it works :?:

kwantfm

getting a little rain at least the farmers have some crops this year laugh.gif

its really strange how theory does not match up with "real situations" when I was offered the shaft I thought this won't suit me but I will throw it in and sell it yet it works perfectly strange considering I don't consider myself a strong player my swing speed is a tad under 100mph yet this is a strong shaft and reasobably heavy at 85grams and should be suited to stronger players

but it works

did I mention it was free???

Topic: Golf Equipment / SMT Deep Bore ....not so hated now!!!

Wel as a few are aware I purchased a deep bore and put a Rifle 65 reg in it and hated it, could not get any reasonable distance out of it.
The club felt really harsh and had to be really belted to get anything out of I was really dissapointed the club sucked!!!

Well that has all changed as of 2 weeks ago got a mate of a mate who knows a guy on the Aus tour and got a Purple Ice stiff 83 grams 2.5° torque
that he did not want he then wacked it in for me.

This club nows rocks 250-260 is the norm off the tee with a smooth swing the difference is chalk and cheese a slght draw is the norm with a fade(slice) the bad though not very bad.
Ball flight is up as well so much so that with this setup I would consider getting rid of the 12° and going for a 10°

I am really impressed with the club now.

I just don't understand the need to pay so much for a head when a shaft can make it so bad and why this shaft is a stiff and works exceptionally well for me when it appeared in this head I could not "load" the reg Rifle

The good news is though this shaft cost me NOTHING laugh.gif laugh.gif

Topic: Golf Equipment / What Driver

Just a thought but the Proforce hit quite low for me and claims to be a 'tip stiff' shaft.  If you have yours tipped as well won't that be making the shaft have quite a low bend point and hit lower than it normally would?  Just a thought.

You must do some funkiy things with your swing to need a 14 though.  I don't swing much faster than you and hit my 9 Shinnecock pretty bloody high.

Sorry I have no Idea what you are talking about I have never used a proforce shaft my shaft is a rifle as for my swing I don't think that its "funky" I just launch the ball low probably de-loft the club a fair bit but am working on getting the ball on the upswing very tough to make a swing change without lessons though or a pro available.

Topic: Golf Equipment / SMT Review I HATE IT!!

The thing with this purchase is that it was carefully thought out. I have
used the Rifle 65 shaft in other drivers and they have worked well. It's a
light, low torque shaft. I can't see why it sucks. I went for it because I
know it works for me. Choosing another shaft would have been far more of a
gamble than using the Rifle.
I took into account the fact that it is a deep bore and got the appropriate
flex.
In comparison to the Mellow Yellow, which is 14 deg and similar head size,
with the same shaft, but tipped firm, it is not as good. This is a very fair
comparison. I currently also have a Soo long 12 degree with an Idrive shaft
and am using a hawkeye with a firm shaft and they are all going better.
There are a heap of NV shafts. You can't say that any one of them will work
better than the Rifle. The NV in the same specs as the Rifle that I have has
higher torque. Anyway the many things to look for in a shaft are it's
characteristics such as, weight, flex and torque and especially whether it
suits the player buying it.

I have to wonder why, if the shaft is so completely totally important, to the
point that it makes the driver, why pay a lot of money for the head?

Why would one shaft of approx 65 grams, reg flex and low torque be so much
more suitable than another with the same characteristics.
