Topic: Golf Talk / ISG Golf Competition

Ok, didnt end up at North Lakes, we braved the water at Wantima and it wasnt as bad as expected.

Plenty of water laying around but didnt get my socks wet, we had to play preferred lies though.

Anyway, a big 40 points for me, 18 the front and 22 the back, 0 wipes, and I am glad to finally put in a decent score.

Thanks, Nathan

Wantima will be too wet so I am going to take my mate who is down from Cairns out to North Lakes, he will have heaps, and I will be able to take his money,

the guy I spoke too today didnt think it would be too wet, but that was some down pour just then, here in Albany Creek we rarely get the storms, but three since sunday is getting our average up.

We were away on the weekend and came home too some water due to open windows, i needed new power tools and a television anyway, they are all soaked.

Still count myself pretty lucky,

Topic: Golf Talk / Byron Bay

Grew up in Byron, the course has changed a lot since I started playing golf.

The resort does supply some water, but my understanding is that it cant be used on the course proper, only on the gardens fronting the course, not sure why, but that is what I was told.

I dont ever remember a water problem in the years I played there, we always got water from the sewerage plant across the road, and those were the days when it always rained enough.

Ocean Shores is great, I remember being a member of both for $105 when I was a junior.

Topic: Sports Talk / Melbourne Cup

Mad Rush and Nom Du Jeu were the runs of the caulfield cup, but this Profound Beauty of Dermot Weld’s is braining it at track work.

There is massive hype over Septimus, and he is used to carrying the big weights, and will have a pacemaker probably as two of his stablemates are runnng.

Can Efficient carry 4kg’s extra and still be a show, I dont know, I guess you have to take Lloyd Williams word for it, he does seem to know how to train them for the big races.

Zipping had a great run in the Cox Plate, but he didnt seem to get the two miles last year, cost me the first four, but he seems to be going better this year.

All the Good won the Caulfield Cup, and Barbaricus came third, both were really solid runs, dont know if Barbaricus has the goods, but it should be in the multiples at the light weight, and All the Good, is obviously capable.

Hopefully after final declarations saturday we will get a better idea, my early money is on Nom Du Jeu,

Topic: Golf Talk / Wynnum or Nudgee Which would you join

I would go Wynnum, I dont know about the members, but it is a nice track, in pretty good nick, and although short you do have to hit it a little straight.
Nudgee may have two courses, but I have never played it in great nick, and for the price it should be soooooooo much better.
In saying that the guys in the pro shop were nice,

Topic: The Lounge / Seve, latest news

He may not be gone, it depends on the type of tumour.

Some are very aggressive(Glioblastoma multiformae and astrocytoma’s) and he wont last long, but some such as meningioma’s get taken out, grow back eventually(where they then get taken out again) but the person will continue to function normally.

With an operation that took that long it could have been an acoustic neuroma, which will mean he may lose some facial nerve use and have some hearing loss, but he would be ok.

Lets hope it was a good one, and that Seve makes a full recovery.

The problem with the game is not with the clubs or coaches that whinge but they stem right from the top with people who are not prepared to make the hard calls when they are needed. Yes the Grapple tackle is a blight on the game so how do the league deal with it. A couple of early suspensions & then weeks of ,Oh if you do that again we will penalise you, until halfway through the semi,s they decide to make an example of someone. I reckon I would say a few words too.The NRL Judiciary is the laughing stock of the country.Until they get serious about cleaning up the game this sort of situation will continue to arise.

A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(

“The older I get the better I used to be!”
Lee Trevino

http://www.golflink.com.au:...

I should be in charge of the judiciary, plenty of suspensions for grapples, no hitting anyone in the head with anything(not even a shoulder), and no suspensions for any Manly players, or NSW players, just to give us an even chance at State of Origin time,

Topic: Golf Talk / what's keppera like at the moment?

i’ve never played wantima, wouldn’t mind one day- the most easy going and relaxed club i’ve ever seen though is helensvale at the goldy. doesn’t matter who you are, the members and staff there make everyone feel very welcome.

Doc – Royal Wantima isn’t a bad course to play as Nath will testify – a bit dangerous in some places and the pro shop and staff are a bit over people and their attitude shows it – once on the course it’s over and time to play – fairways and greens are good!

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Impossible – it’s only an opinion, not a fact!

Maybe there are changes afoot at the ‘tima, a little shake up would be good,

I play at Wantima now, much cheaper, and the course is usually in pretty good nick.

I only play probably 3 of 5 saturdays, but I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and a friendly drink after the game,

They water the greens and forget about the fairways, and they think they are Gods gift to golf courses, I used to play there a lot, play elsewhere now, but i dont miss Keperra.

You guys are kidding, if that didnt deserve benefit of the doubt nothing ever does, and if Folau didnt just run straight into Matai he wouldnt fall over.

We need to stop Folau and Inglis from getting the ball, they are the only likely people on the storm side.

However, that slater is a dirty bastard, but he must have the best set of hands in the world, does he ever ever drop it?

Go the Mighty Manly Sea Eagles.

Dirty!!! I think he’s the gentleman of the game – Manly have been fairly consistant with their knees into grounded played so far!!
