Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Australia's Best / Toughest Closing Hole The 18th at Hills (jimboomba) is brutally long :-) 575m and the second shot needs to clear a hazard at around 400m, so a layup is at least a longiron for third. The 18th Kooralbyn at 400+ with all carry to the green across and you cant hit more than 220 off the tee as it runs into a hazard. The 18th at Helensvale still gives me nightmares. around 380m straight narrow hole but Water on both sides, and always cross wind, shallow green that faces 90deg away from you and is completely protected by water front, right and long. and Toowoomba city is just downright scary. similar to Kooralbyn. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Would you rather a low handicap or play a harder course It is a fallacy that a tougher course results in higher handicaps. if you have a lower handicap say <10 a and high play like acr regularily course on> If you play the lower ACR course, like a -3 you will have a slightly higher handicap, as the hackers will drag the CCR down, because the obviously struggle less. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Open Comps Gold Coast on Saturdays?????????? You will get a game in the Comp at Emerald Lakes where I am a member and you can book in any time. No doubt you can get on anywhere, but you would only be able to book on the day, most of the clubs here are full on Saturdays. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Tour Edge - Rubbish Obviously these clubs do not have the right shaft/fitting for YOU. put the right shaft and fitting combination on an old tree root and it will feel great. as for resale value, well your market is limited to someone who fits those shafts, very few people can handle a rifle 6.0 |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Trees at Trentham Just networking mate! thanks for the heads up, I have checked your website. If i ever get to Trentham I wont have any problems finding the 10th now. By the way, great golf club website, one of the best I have seen for a small club with an obviously small budget (and better than big ones too). Your designer obviously knows what he is doing, is he cheap? |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Trees at Trentham Nice work Publisher. Its every golfers dream to see trees been cut down. Stuffed if i can work out what your 12th hole is with a lake on the RHS? I am looking on the Google maps and I can make out a lake on a hole that is logically the 11th. (or 2nd) – South east corner, heading north. By the way interesting looking golf course, there is some good use of some densely treed arears that make for scary tee shots. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Bris-Vegas I recommend Wolston Park, anyone who was at gold coast country club would have to be a real chopper :-) If i was anywhere near the north side of brisbane or sunshine coast I would join Horton Park. They are going to be the richest club in australia soon. They have put a small premium on their membership joining fee at the moment, but how much do you reckon their nomination fees will be when they have $20-50m in the bank? |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Gympie Pines GC Changes are fairly insignificant, 3 holes affected. The biggest ones are some minor changes Oh and the 9’s are swapped around, just to confuse anyone reading the above. Nothing else changed from what the course looked like over 25 years ago. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Sunshine Coast Driving Range Horton Park is the best one be far but it does depend on where you are. There is also a range right at the Sunshine Motorway turnoff from the highway (southside of the exit, abouy 1m drive), however dont think its quite a driver length range if your a flusher. There is another one at Tewantin somewhere, and the resorts all have decent ranges. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Emerald lakes membership I have been a member at Emerald Lakes for 8 years, have never had the inclination to change clubs. It is family freindly and has good programs for the kids. The clubhouse facilities are amongst the best, and the members are not stuck up wankers – just plain normal wankers. Be aware that it is not a members owned club, and if playing competition golf is your preference make sure you find out which days competition times are available as it is predominantly a public course. Recent changes in management have resulted in a renewed focus on interests of the members which has been great. The place just gets better all the time. (the owner is worth squillions, and this is his hobby) Send me a PM or something when you want to play, I am happy to join you for your opening round, and Julie if your just visiting I can arrange the members guest rate for you – though its probably identical to the ISG offer thingy. |

Topic: ISG Feedback / New ISG Site with the Adverts taking up space why dont you allow the forum text to spread out and use the whole screen, you still have the empty space either side of the forum. Yes i can see that is the CSS style for the whole site, regardless is a Pain in the arse. On my monitor (4:3) the forum only uses up 50% of the screen width, less when you take out the User profile section. and being totally honest here, there are other popular aussie golf forums that dont have adverts at all, and they still seem to be able to run. I wouldnt be surprised if this change drives more users to other forums, that would be a shame. |
