Topic: Golf Equipment / Footjoy - which model? I got the DryJoy PRO's for around A$130 shipped when I bought two pairs from a random US ebay shop last year. They're excellent. Very stable, light enough to walk 36 in a day and totally waterproof. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Hybrid clubs Like Moe, I carry a 19 deg and it replaces both a 5 wood and 2/3 iron for me. I can get useful height with it and carry somewhere between 4 iron and 3 wood. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Is your home course coping in this drought? Has barely rained here in two years. I think the official drought figure is over 3 years now with less than 50mm. Almost everywhere, the grass is dead. Brookwater has a deal with the recycled water plant and is irrigated nightly. It's lush. I almost feel guilty... |

Topic: Golf Talk / What age were you when u started and how well are you playing now? started playing at about 16yo. First hcap was 17. Got down to around 7 within a year or so. Have hardly improved since then. Been as low as 4, but have drifted out to 6-7 again. I'm 33 now, so I guess I've been treading water for 16 years after the initial big improvement. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Academy In QLD "A Game" is based at Brookwater. http://www.agame-int.com/ Ian Triggs and Tom Berndt are among the coaches. Not sure of pricing, but they pretty much cater to any standard. There are quite a few Japanese and Korean golfers based there full time who stay with local families as homestays. There is no accom at the club, yet... Good luck. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / 60m to 100m from the pin: which club?
Yeah me too. Just ditched 3 iron and put a 50 in the bag. I use the following as a rough guide for fullish swings (10.30 in Pelz-speak)
PW -46 deg 125 Around the green I chip with my 50 when I want it to release and my Spin Milled 54 when I want to skip and check. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Weakest stretch of holes Haven't played many of these courses, but I'd agree with Moe's assessment of 8,9,10 as being the weakest holes at Brookwater. I enjoy 8 and 9, but they are weak and that was the topic. At Barnbougle, the weakest stretch is 1,2,3, but 3 is a good hole. It's just that the rest are better! Watch out for the ball-stealing crows on 3... |

Topic: Golf Talk / Your longest drive ever?
Yes mate, well aware of that. You flew it quite a bit further than me as I recall. But you're huge. I'm just a short knocker. Jamie came close to driving the 18th one day with my driver too... At least I know what potential my sticks have! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Your longest drive ever? hit a few of 280-295m drives last week at Barnbougle with a very nice 20 knott prevailing NWerly.. Managed to catch my drives well on holes 8,9,10,11,14! The wind and roll was worth around 50m as I typically only fly it 220-230m. Like Moe, I've got a few out over 300m on the 13th at Brookwater. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Northlakes?
Everything is being "re-packaged" shortly, to open it
up to non-residents. There's talk of the joining fee being
slashed, but I'd expect the annual subs would be 2.5 -3k
still. This would put it in line with Indro and RQ, but slightly
higher than Brisbane GC. |

Topic: The Lounge / Jaster Mereel
Yep, absolutely. It was a tough day on Friday at Leon's funeral, I don't think I've ever been sadder at such things. It's just an absolute tragedy. His wife Leah was a tower of strength for the kids and should be in our thoughts this Christmas. This could have happened to any of us. |

Quality seems good so far (3 months). I'm 100+ kgs and the seat copes fine.
I paid $150 new at Golfworks in Brisbane for the black enamel.
Love it! |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Barny Dunes My wife's uncle lives in Launceston and he reckoned that Autumn was the best time to play it. I was there in late March and was blessed with sunshine for 2 days, but got different winds for each of 4 rounds. The 8th hole into a 2-3 club easterly was daunting. I think I laid up short of the neck with a longish iron! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / 20 years on, the horror has returned... I played with a guy in 1992 who had one of those. It was fairly new then, so they must have come out not long before. Very much and anti-slice clusb. Same vintage, but just as cool was the Wilson Ultra-Mid driver. It looked like wax/plastic. Have a feeling John Daly used one at some point... |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Shaft options for Titleist 905S
Mine goes well with a Grafalloy Blue in it. My swingspeed is
trypically 109-110 but I'm not really a "hitter". I
am pretty handsy and flippy (think of Furyk & Couples).
I've tried 905S's with Titleist Speeders, V2 and some
weird KJ Choi proto shaft in it and I like mine the best. |
