Topic: Golf Architecture / Where did Tony go? Thanks for your welcome, Jon. Yes, I am working with Cashmore Golf Design. I have watched (but not contributed to) this site for a number of years and have observed the tone of many contributors who have mounted constant personal attacks on the family. I will contribute to this site in a positive way, but if it gets nasty, I’ll not bother. There is still quite a lot of work in Australia for us, but Asia is also looming large. As incomes rise in many parts of Asia, the demand for good golf courses is surging. We are very happy to continue to meet the demands from both markets. |

Topic: Golf Architecture / Where did Tony go? Hi, Tony’s brother Ray here. Tony is in Beijing supervising the construction of an 18 hole members’ course (about 60% complete) not far from the international airport. The course is set in gentle, rolling country and has a series of inter-connected lakes running through it. It was originally a tree nursery and, because all the trees are deciduous, any tree which requires transplanting is simply moved to another position on site. This will be a marvellous golf course to play – tough but fair. Overall, a very beautifu setting. |

Topic: Golf Architecture / Hypothetical for the Cashmores... Hi, Tony’s brother Ray here. Tony is supervising construction of an 18 hole members’ course in Beijing (about 60% complete), amongst other work in Asia. Augusta has become too much like a US Open course – very long, tight and tricky. What is wrong with setting up a course so that the good golfers can display their true wares? The best golfer will still win, the crowds will continue to get great enjoyment from a beautiful golf course and the stories will continue to be told well after the event. I cannot fathom why courses have to be set up so ridiculously. |
