Topic: Golf Equipment / 460cc I use a 450 Ignite and often hit out to 300+ mtrs, so I doubt there’s much difference in distance between the sizes. I wouldn’t have thought a pro like yourself Kyc, would get hung up on size so much? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / GPS v Laser Rangefinders Not wanting to step on any toes but, am I alone in looking at this thread and thinking is there any need at all for this gear? I have to admit, the novelty is well, novel. I still can’t ever remember thinking, “look at this shot, I wish I had my (insert massively expensive electrical toy here) to tell me what to do….” If you can’t see where you’re hitting, take an extra minute to walk to the crest of the hill and look. The most advanced tech in the world still lies between your ears, where the game is won. Spend the money on coaching, I bet it improves your game by a lot more. The best players I know are the ones who play the most, not spend the most. Oh yeah, parting thought. Goegraphical survey workers use laser range finders for any surface work, not GPS. I suspect they are going to be accurate, although they mount them on a tripod as is is really hard to aim a laser over 200+mtrs whilst holding it in your hand. :) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Which is the best fairway wood? I’m with Kyc & Dazza, love Adams fairway woods. I have the GT tightlies 3wd, sooooo easy to hit out to 200 pretty consistantly outta nearly anything. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / The Tight Arse Corner ! Pretty much everything in my bag was new, but discounted. Except the Vokey, I just had to have it. Nike Ignite driver, was $499 bought at $199 fitted. TM rac OS2 iron set, was $139 per club (3-PW with a SW thrown in,) bought just after they were replaced $499 the set. But the bargin in the bag was the 3wd Adams tight lies 2nd hand in the wrong bin at the golf shop $50 – I’m pretty sure the guy was pissed off I bought it before he could change the tag ;) I’m not ashamed and wouldn’t change clubs till I’m good enough, regardless of budget. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / What's ur fav club?? Titlest 52’vokey. It doesn’t seem to matter what crap I’ve hit myself into, I can get outta it with the vokey, usually to within a puttable distance too. I think the furthest I’ve holed out from with this is about 40m, (once, the rest were like 30ft max!). |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? Shot 4 over for 9. Included a run of 2 birdies and 3 pars. You can guess how bad the rest was then…...... But my putting was outta sight, only 2 put one of those pars and that was from about 20 ft away. Spose I’ll have to get a handycap soon and play more than once every three weeks. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / What's In Your Bag? Bag – Bridgestone Can’t say there’s too much more I’d like in a set. Untill I master the TM rac’s, I won’t bother upgrading much till then. When that happen’s it will be for blades. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Big "V" versus "The dream Team" Another contrived event for VFL glory. Had they lost, it was to a team made up of “dream” picks so no biggy, if they won they claim the best in Aus title, no lose for the big V. Played in front of a home crowd, with large doubts over the umpires ability to see past which side their bread is buttered on….... It was exactly what I thought it would be, staged and contrived. Bring back the real state of origin or bury it for good, but to celibrate Aussie rules in Australia by ignorring the rest of the country? (it has been played in places other than Victoria you know,) is typically Victorian, arrogant and self glorifying. The rest of the country should have boycotted this crap for what it is. |

Had that taken place in the 60’s or 70’s Port side, Barry would not have walked from the ground. It’s all about money now anyway, not pride or loyalty. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Is this a good set? rodda there’s a fair heap of 2nd hand drivers floating around most golf stores these days that would suit you. Most of the clubs being traded now are OS or 400cc drivers and will more often have 10’ loft or more. On the subjuct of your not using fairway woods, I was the same untill recently. I hit my 3iron a reasonable 175mtrs and driver quite a bit more, but had trouble getting a consistant contact with my cheap 3wd. I chanced across an Adams tight lies 3wd, which is as close as you can get to a really long hybrid, for $50 2nd hand at my local par 3 course. It’s brilliant. If you ever come across one, have a go at it, it solved my problems. |

The Angels at Thebarton theatre, just can’t beat good hard aussie rock. Best performance was Pearl Jam in Adelaide 06. Eddie was crook and still went great guns. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Nike Slingshot Irons vs Callaway Bertha Irons Golfest digest rated both pretty well last year. They wrote that the slingshots were so forgiving, that if you couldn’t hit them you needed to give up golf…. that did stick in my head a bit. I would borrow one of each for a real hit down the range first. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Your longest drive ever? Yesterday in calm weather, on the par 5 : 7th at Adelaide South course. I hit a drive off the elevated tee that travelled far enough so I could hit a 9 iron to the green, that hole is 455 mtrs to the green and there wasn’t any wind. My playing partner cursed me and said it was a fluke. I then repeated it by nearly hitting the guys in front of us on the 8th, a 365 mtr par 4. I used a PW to get on to that green, a pitch shot….. The second of those 2, was over flat straight ground and bounced in between the 2 blokes in front of us. I have never hit past 300, and love that I did it twice in two holes. I don’t know how though, I didn’t try to hit it hard? The rest of the day I spent trying to thump it, and lost three balls to score 102…....... |

No, I’d say it’s pretty damn close to 100%, me included. You have to be a prick to survive in that industry. It’s the only one I know where the boss has no concern over what you do or say, as long as you sell 4 – 5 cars a week. Don’t do that, they sack ya. Doesn’t matter if you been there 20 years. Don’t feel sorry for em though, they’d sell you and your gran down the toilet if it made a sale. They all know what they’re doing….... getting paid to do bugger all besides piss people off and haggle. Glad its not me anymore. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? Went for a half round at Regency, my first in 2months following a lower back injury. Didn’t go too bad. The first couple of holes were terrible, didn’t get my swing back till the 4th. Opened up for a 260 mtr drive down the middle on the 8th, it felt great…. 25 from the pin. I went on to completely root the put up for a 5. Just happy to get the driver out without any back twinges. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Wayne Carey...oh dear duck what are you doing You know, I thought about what he’s done, compared to say Ablett who basically set up a girl young enough to be his daughter, with enough drugs to kill herself, Carey is just a chick beater. I still can’t believe the goldfish memories of some footy fans over fallen idols. |
