Topic: Golf Talk / Course suggestion??? Logan/brisbane area Riverlakes and Windaroo would be my economical pick for that area. Just don’t play Logan City unless you like the taste of dirt and don’t mind damaging your gear, oh yeah and take one of those plastic wine corks to use as a tee, cause you aint getting a tee in the ground. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Getaway on ONEHD I don’t like it, but, what I like and what the next person does might be two different things. Raises the question as to what you want from a topical golf show? Personally I would like to see it more golf orientated and not show non golf related segments ie visits to wineries and such. I reckon a course review, a tip from a pro, PGA Tour news, Australasian tour news, amateur news and an equipment review should take up half an hour. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How do you mark your balls Don’t mark it at all. I am the only one in my group without a marking and most every other ball I have seen is marked, so I know the unmarked one is mine. I have never had an issue with it. |

Topic: Golf Talk / definition of "Goat Track" If the only way you can tell it’s a tee area is due to markers and if the only way you know it’s a green is because of the flag, then it’s a goat track. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Pink Golf GPS It’s the sonocaddie V300 off the bay. The only difference is the colour. Stickers would probably sort the colour issue as pink isn’t my preferred colour. What the hey, I’m feeling festive. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Shafts I guess I have not advanced down my golfing path far enough yet to understand the dynamics of different shafts. Also why does a stiff shaft seem to be more whippy and flexible than a regular shaft? Is it swing speed alone that determines which shaft you should be using? Can a golfer with a slow swing speed still hit a stiff shaft club to its full potential? |

Topic: Playing the game / The search for consistency. Hey Hack, what works for one person may not work for another. So heres what works for me. I really concentrate on switching off between shots. I try to engage my playing partners in talk about other things. Then when I get to my ball I switch on and concentrate on thinking solid contact and visualising the ball flight. If I am not hitting fairways it generally means a bad score so I really try for position over distance. |

Topic: Rules of Golf / Another Stableford scoring question? Off 15 you don’t get a stroke on hole index 16,17 & 18. Your scores on those holes are incorrect. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Sergio invites Tiger for fried chicken Maybe Sergio has seen Tiger eating fried chicken a lot at tournaments? Maybe he thought this would be the way to mend the rift and serve Tiger his favourite food? Maybe I’ll shoot 55 on Saturday off my 17 hcp with 2 holes in one and a double eagle? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Loyalty Pts. As a reward for winning comps our club issues loyalty points. We can’t use these points for comp fees, cart fees or membership dues. We were able to use them for range balls, gear from proshop and food and beverage from the clubhouse. Now they tell us we can’t use our points for food or beverage. They increased prices and then gave us a members discount which means we are paying the same price as we used to, but, with our own cash instead of loyalty points. What is the procedure at other clubs and am I being petty by thinking that the change is unfair? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist Velocity One of my regular Sat group uses the Velocity and swears by them, often! He is 75 and like a lot of the older members I have played with tends to play a running shot to the green, which at our course is good because there isn’t many bunkers in front of greens. He gave me one to try and it felt a bit ‘clunky”, if that is a golfing term? He tends to hit them straight and gets good distance and run. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Norman's comments re drug testing & Vijay Had a guy 4 down after 9 holes in Matchplay one day. Told me he hadn’t followed his normal routine of getting drunk before tee off and then proceeded to down 9 cans of beer and 3 bourbon and coke cans within 9 holes to beat me 1 up on the last. It just steadied him big time to be drunk. Is this an unfair advantage? What about smokes? They certainly steady me before tee off. Can a pro turn up pissed? |

Topic: Sports Talk / WELL done Jason Collins for coming out I really want to congratulate Leonardo Dicaprio for coming out and demonstrating that he is heterosexual and proud of it. The fact that he flaunts his sexuality with a parade of female models and actresses can only make other young men and women hopeful that one day they too can come out as straight and be proud of it. Not suffer the ridicule of being called “straighty” etc and the other harmful barbs. Kids can be so cruel. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? Played my C grade match play final. Was supposed to be finished in early March, but, due to weather and other comps didn’t get to play the final till yesterday. My hc had come in to 17 where my opponent was on 22 so had to give him 5 shots. I played one of my worst rounds ever, lost 6 balls either ob or water. Just couldn’t get it together. Lost 4 & 3, some important lessons learned for sure. |

Topic: Playing the game / Specials journey to lower scores.. Your journey so far is very similar to mine. I started playing after a long break last October and was off 27 to begin with and very happy if I broke 100. Since then I have dropped my cap to 17. My best so far is 84 off the stick. I too slice my driver and have tried everything and have toned the amount of slice down, but, it is still there, like a bad smell. I have a decent short game and play out of bunkers really well, but, I can’t putt for shit. Consistent iron hits and course management got me to 17, but, I think putting is the most important part and now takes up most of my practice time. |
