Topic: Golf Classifieds / Ping G25 Stiff Driver for sale

Yeah I was fuzzy but I bought the Nike Covert today after a demo day. 99% of people love the G25, I still do, but for me personally, my stats were a tad better on the Nike, so selling it while its still quite new. It’s a great deal for someone wanting the G25, and good for me to use it to fund the Nike

Sounds trivial but I’m hell bent on getting to single figures within a few months, so I want every single club to be “the one”, if that makes sense

It’s such a beautiful driver and a monster as others like Dave have said, so I wish I could keep it to be honest, but just can’t afford it

Ping G25 driver
Cleveland 52, 58 deg wedges
Putter: Odyssey Versa 90 #7 putter
Brosnan Taipan 4i-SW, 3W, 5W, 3H
Balls: Srixon Z star yellow + Vision yellows
Favourite shot: 110m out from the hole with my PW (hitting green 70% now)

Fair call mate. Good luck – I’m sure you’ll get to single figures before too long:). I dipped into single figures for the first time about six weeks ago – it’s an awesome accomplishment. I reckon getting to single figures qualifies you to call yourself a serious golfer. Once you get to singles, then it’s about staying there and solidifying it be edging towards mid single figures. Was the Nike demo outdoors or just in a Golf Mart? Did you go to one of Golf Mart’s Covert Challenge things they’ve been flogging? I’ve hit both Coverts inside, but the chance to hit them outside would be interesting…

Why selling the G25 mate? Thought you were loving it. What are you wanting to replace it with? I’d grab it off you as a back up driver for my 913 D2, but I’ve exhausted my club budget for now. Verging on divorce:).

Topic: Golf Talk / changes at New Brighton

Thanks so much for the reply, I guess it was wishful thinking hoping that the 5th, 6th and 12th would go LOL, I hate those holes!

Do you know if they will be rebuilding the practice facilities? i.e plans for a chipping green etc?

elk groupie

Don’t like the 6th mate? That’s a great par 5 I reckon – awesome double dogleg, such a tight landing area off the tee. It’s def one of the better par 5s I’ve played. The 12th is a similarly nice 5 in my opinion. I look forward to seeing how New Brighton goes after all the changes, but until then I’d probably play elsewhere….

Topic: Golf Equipment / Mizuno Appreciation Thread

Toppy, go and get fitted by a reputable club fitter. It is unlikely that the sales rep at your local golf mega store is very proficient at fitting.

Tell us what area you live in and someone will know of a good club fitter you can get to.

Once you have the specs for what will suit you, you can then shop around for the best deal. The usual deal is that you pay for the fitting and that fitter will offer a discount should you choose to buy your clubs from him.

After I obtained my fitting details, I bought mine from Fergo in USA.

This is something that I want to get done but I was never sure where to go in Sydney that I could pay and they would give me the specs without any pressure. Can anyone recommend somewhere?

Hey mate,

Try The Custom Golf Shop in Burwood. . They opened back in Feb – it’s the Scot and Pommy blokes who used to operate Sydney Olympic Park Driving Range in Homebush. Both are PGAs. They’re housed in the old police station near Burwood train station. It’s a smallish interior (it’s only a smallish operation at this stage), but they’ve got it well stocked with heaps of gear, particularly if you dig your Mizuno gear. They’ve got the set up with the three screens (front, left, right) that capture all your swing data, and a video camera records your swing for playback on one of these screens.
It’s a pretty cool little place and the blokes are lovely. Of course, they’ll charge you for a fitting, but then it’s up to you. A mate did this, whereas I spent about 90mins in there a few weeks ago chatting to Andy and seeing if my irons needed adjusting. I’d say check it out for sure mate…

Topic: Golf Talk / Tassie time!

Played both courses for the first time in a day in early Feb. Just a lovely, dreamlike place to be for a golfer. Amazing golf courses. Brace yourself for the 8th at Barnbougle Dunes and the 5th at Lost Farm – monster par 4s! I reckon 8 at Dunes is probably the toughest of all the 38 holes at Barnbougle. I was in Launceston for work for the weekend, so only had a day to play, but next time I’d gladly spend a week down there. Have fun mate!

Topic: Golf Talk / Why do I play golf?

Good stuff mate!!!! Would’ve loved to have seen old Indy Jones going at it with that cart… and actually winning the tussle!
While golf remains a mystery sometimes, I love this great game for so many reasons. If not for work I’d play everyday. Alas, I’ve got a few decades to go before I reach retirement:(.

Great looking first round leaderboard – look at all those big names, and Castro equaling course record in his first comp round there is nuts! Sounds like much easier scoring conditions in the morning. Will see if/how he comes back to the field tomorrow, and if some of those arvo players (including Tiger) can come out firing in the morning… Three Aussies poised…hope Chalmers can string a few rounds together…

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run.

This theory all falls to crap when you turn up to your first ISG golf day, Fuzzy ;-)

Shot more than 36 points in an OOM day….seriously.
Smoldy. When only the best will do.

hahaha – good point. I’ve not been to an ISG Day yet. Been trying to get to one of the NCCSS ones, but I can’t get the days off work…

Did you blokes read the linked story? If that’s all Tiger can muster when he’s supposedly half cut than that’s pretty weak. Imagine if the word got out about the shit we do when we’re blotto….

Nobody should give a shit – who doesn’t get on the turps at these sorts of events. Standard procedure and common sense really:). What else are you meant to do? His eyes do look pretty spaced out in those last three pics…:).

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE ISG and spend a veritable shitload of time on the site every day, so am very, very grateful for it. I spend more time here than I do on PGATour.com and GolfDigest.com, but there’s certainly some threads in these forums that are pointless, serious wastes of time… .But, of course, they’re easy to avoid… . And some of those Golf Instruction threads start out really useful but are quickly reduced to tedious back and forths between a couple of dudes arguing over who’s least full of shit. But again, they’re easily avoided. And what better place for dudes to have petty goes at each other than behind the veil that a forum affords? The forums are a great bank of knowledge though for anyone searching for info on certain gear/courses and general golfing advice. Love the site, keep it up Madam:).

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Most Daunting Tee Shot in Golf?

Pffft. Only pussies try and cut the corner onto the fairway on the 5th at Lost Farm.

Real men drive the green as the crow flies.

If I could have any professional golfer’s name and any professional golfer’s hair, I would have Robert Rock’s name and Robert Rock’s hair.

Hahaha – hilarious. Killer hole that. I managed to par it though – awesome drive down middle, hybrid missed green in the hollow right, then a cheeky up and down. How about that 8th at Dunes? Tough nut that one…

Oh, 5th at Barnbougle Lost Farm is pretty freaky, with that absofreakinglutely massive dune on the right that you ideally want to cut the corner of – monster par 4 that one. When I played them the wind was benign, but I reckon both the 4th at Lost Farm and the 7th at Barnbougle Dunes would be nuts tough on a windy day… . Oh, and 8th at Barnbougle Dunes, with the split fairway. That’s another killer par 4… I found it harder than the 5th at Lost Farm.

Topic: Golf Talk / Best all round practice facilities in South West Sydney

Hey mate,

I really value good practise facilities too, but as you said they’re a little hard to find. The best I’ve come across in the west are at Lynwood, for sure. However, that’s northwest. Awesome facilities. Oatlands has pretty awesome practice facilities as well; think you can use your own balls at each, but probably only on short game facilities – ie up to 100m, not on full range. Not sure if too many courses let you use your own balls on the full range. Other decent practise facilities are at Macquarie Links and Stonecutters Ridge – although at the latter they won’t let you on their range if you’re not a member or with a member. Weird. Camden Lakeside has a decent range, as does Penrith – but quite a few courses (Cabramatta, Bankstown, Cumberland) don’t have a range at all. Liverpool, where I’m at, has good chipping and putting greens, and a range, but the range is pretty average to be honest – uphill, short, signs saying can’t use drivers/woods. And there’s a bunker on side of range, but hardly anyone seems to use it. As you can probably tell, I don’t really know about the south I’m afraid… . Hope this helps.

Er..the 16th at Wakehurst is a tree lined downhill 199metre par three with a lake directly in front of the green,& bunkers left & right of the green.
Its a cracker, but dont tell anyone as its already tough to get a game there.

Great hole that. We played it from the back the one time I’ve played Wakehurst – and tee was cut at the back. That lake is in the perfect position – no running it up or dropping it short on that tee shot. We nailed it though – off the three of us, the 8hc drilled a hybrid to about 5m, I (12hc at the time) then topped that with a 2iron to about 3m, the even our 27 capper, with a 3w, put it on the back fringe. Awesome par 3:).
