Topic: Golf Talk / Ron Budge Trophy Keysborough defeated Rossdale 4 / 3 to win the Ron Budge Trophy played at Spring Valley yesterday. It was Keysborough’s first victory in the event, which has a ten year history. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Daly to return to Coolum for PGA PGA has a rich history and is definately second to the Australian Open. The PGA has been played on all the fine courses Australia wide and eventhough it has had sponsorship problems over the last 15 years it still ranks higher than The Aust Masters. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Daly to return to Coolum for PGA Good luck to him. Assume no appearance money just expenses. He owes us a lot !!!!!!! All said on previous posts. |

Topic: Golf Talk / John Daly at the Masters $50k is not a bad punt for the organisers. He is worth nothing more. Let’s just see if he makes the cut, my thinking is highly unlikely. If he stuffs up this time we will never see the man again. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Dave is coming to Vic again from WA...need some help
Dave, Rosebud is very good. Reasonably cost effective as well. Mornington is not as good but is very scenic and worth a game. I would prefer Rosebud over the two. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Appleby on Denton Tonight Agree with the thoughts of Apples winning a Major in time. Of all the Aussies he is equal with Ogilvy in having the best ‘all round’ game. Every aspect of his game is sound. Like any sport all he needs is the breaks and a bit of good luck and he will be there. |

Topic: Golf Talk / John Daly at the Masters All I can say is ‘what are The Masters organisers thinking in inviting JD to Huntingdale’. How many times are they going to allow this former great to let people down. Sure people will come and watch him, he is an attraction. I just wonder whether he can justify the expense. If he makes the cut it will be a bloody miracle. I just can’t believe that the organisors could not spend the appearance money on one of a hundred qualified golfers around the world to make it to Huntingdale. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Dave is coming to Vic again from WA...need some help You say you don’t mind driving, that is an understatement if ever I heard one !!! If you stay at Sale you can play Lakes Entrance, Metung (9 holer) and Trafalgar. All very good courses. |

Topic: Golf Talk / ranfurlie golf memberships?? wanna-rio. Ranfurlie is IMO a very good layout with facilities to match. As per the last comment it can be a bit exposed to the elements there but the times I have played it has been very still , at worst a gentle breeze, and I really like the course. It has a superb mixture of long and short holes and the Clayton design is fair for all. Fairways are very generous and the greens medium to large. I say go for it at that price !! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Judging Distance Distances at your home course are reasonably easy to estimate , the troubles are on unfamiliar away courses. I really don’t know how you could play to your expectations without the use of course guides or markers. Also I add just another reason why the likes of Thomson, Snead and Nagle etc were so darn good in there days without a lot of distance aides. |

Thanks. Yes have heard about Lakes Entrance and it’s quality, completely paased my mind and only 10 minutes drive away. Metung is a nine holer and from all reports well designed. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / How many wear gloves? I wear a glove and it gives me a sense of security. Summertime the glove acts as deterrant against sweat moisture. I prefer the all weather type glove against leather. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Americans in Europe With the latest financial crisis the selfish yanks will be spreading their wings. The unfortunate aspect is that here in Australia we will gain very little benefit. Maybe the ‘second tier’ players may add some support to Australasia. We certainly require a boost in player support to re-attract the big crowds back to golf. |

Topic: Golf Talk / 2 to 3 day golf escape... where would you go? Mornington Peninsula is the go, so many quality golf courses at reasonable costs. Night life however would be a concern if you like the ‘high life’. Restaurants in all areas are top notch. Go for it. |

Topic: Golf Talk / What do you do? (1)Report the player to the Match Committee representative. Every club has them. (11) Avoid him like the plague and hopefully the penny will drop. (111) As stated previously it is the low handicappers responsibility to alert this person to slow play. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Sand Buckets
Sounds like Peter Thomson has got into the boys ears at Barnbougle. In referance to an earlier post regarding filling divots on par 3’s. Most courses prefer the greens staff to fill the divots with seeded soil/sand. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / RACV buys Royal Pines @ Gold Coast Good on the RACV …. maybe the next step is to involve themselves in the Aust PGA Tour and promote their wares via a sponsorship deal. We need a local sponsor who are passionate about the game, not these ‘fly by night’ finance companies. |
