Topic: Joining a club Can’t a person off 2 have a PB of 64? Ten below a handicap isn’t out of all possibility. And it could have been at some super easy course too. |

Topic: Joining a club Blazer62 I can shoot anywhere between 64 and 84. For 9 or 18 holes? If you can shoot 64 play golf for a living. I seriously doubt that score range if they are 18 hole rounds. |

Topic: Joining a club Does anyone know what it would take for a 26 year old bloke to join a sand belt club? Is it similar to the process associated when joining if you’re 40 or 50? I would’ve thought they would like some younger members who would like to be part of something going forward |

Topic: Joining a club Yeah I reckon peninsula is a great club, always did the junior clinics on the last Sunday of the month followed by a round. My contacts there have since dried up however. Any idea what what joining fee/annual subs are approximately? |

Topic: Joining a club Sounds like you’re in the east , and i dont know if anyones mentioned Beacon Hills. Set in the picturesque Beaconsfield , a championship 27 holes presents a decent challenge to golfers of all standards. A great club culture with comp on tues thurs sat and sun , membership is a steal at $1049. Ad no joining fee if you mention this forum. Have a round and try before you buy, you wont look back…good luck |

Topic: Joining a club Oh, and get somewhere that’s either close to home or work. You want to use it. Even if you only play 3-4 times a month. With your fitness based attitude I’m sure you’d love to be able to pop down for 45 minutes twice a week to have a chip, putt. Just to clear the head and relax. I run my own business too. That clearing the head time is critical long term. |

Topic: Joining a club Pro shop staff turns over though, and you might just catch them on a bad day. So it’s hard to judge. It could take you a few rounds (easily) at any club to get a feel for it. It’s not hard to find the guys at your club who wish to play comp and those that wish to play socially. You’ll learn that in no time. Our group always plays in the comp, but we play socially. If that makes sense. Generally, everyone has the same available time slot each week. Once you get the hang of that on any course you can work your way around it. I really don’t know any of the peninsula courses. Join a course that intrigues you and would make you a better golfer would be my tip. |

Topic: Joining a club Totally agree with the comment above. The culture of the club is very important as I’d plan to make a long term commitment. Since the age of 15 I’ve played every sand belt club, as well as all the peninsula courses, as I previously stated, and I reckon the staff in the pro shop, really can give a good indication of how the club runs |

Topic: Joining a club You might also compare the service and personalities of the staff in the pro shops you visit. Might have a bearing on the personalities of the members too! I might recommend the staff at Southern as well. |

Topic: Joining a club Thanks for the reply. If I could squeeze in, say, 3-4 rounds a month I’d be satisfied. Im an opportunist, I don’t mind rushing through a quick 9 after work during summer as the sun goes down. I live in the Mordialloc area, meaning I’d travel anywhere if they right opportunity exists. |

Topic: Joining a club 1. Choose the club you want to join. In considering value for money, how often do you expect to play at the club and what does that work out to as a cost per round? Narrow your list down to about three clubs and try and get a ‘trial’ visit with members. You’ll need nominations from members anyway. |

Topic: Joining a club Hey guys, I’m new to the forum myself, but have always been a reader so thought it might be time to create an account and join in. My question revolves around joining a club. I want to join a club in 2013; I want a good mix of members who are there socially and also for the odd serious comp. I’ve been a member of a club before, but years ago when I was 17. I gave most of my youth to golf and competing, my handicap was 2 when I decided the world was bigger than the golf course. I never really completely stopped, I’d always be at the practice range with mates who still played and played the odd 9 holes now and again. The last year has seen me playing all the courses down the peninsula, and these days I can shoot anywhere between 64 and 84. My swing was never right for me when I was 15, but now at 26, being a lot stronger, I really feel at one with the club. Essentially I’d love to join a club now, but I have no idea how to go about it. About me personally? I work in IT sales part time, I am a qualified personal trainer and run my own business part time and I am currently studying a bachelor of biomedical science at deakin. In your educated opinions, what are my options from here? Cheers in advance |
