Its weird when you feel like you’re playing solidly …...... yet your scoring doesn’t reflect how you feel, isn’t it?

On the front 9 I had 7 rock solid twos pointers and a three pointer, and then I went and wiped the 9th out of nowhere.

On the back 9 I hit a lot of really good shots, yet with two holes to play I had only got 10 points. I then finished with a 4 pointer and another rock solid two pointer.

Some days I guess are like that, you feel like you hit them well yet your score doesn’t reflect it. Other days it seems you stuff up every 3rd or 4th shot, but you manage to keep the scoreboard ticking over with ones, and the odd two pointer.

I think I’d rather hit a lot of good shots and just wipe a couple of holes completely, as like you say, leaking shots, or missing a lot of opportunities is pretty bloody frustrating.

Hopefully like me though, you have something solid to work on Frank, as I reckon that’s the main thing after not scoring to your handicap.

It’s nice to be able to put a finger on exactly where we went wrong I reckon, rather than have small errors creep into every part of our game, as that just makes it much harder to identify.

Onward and upward though I reckon, as there is always something specific in need of attention, as well as just maintaining our games and trying to make small incremental improvements across the board.

Hope you’re enjoying your time up there buddy, and just keep working at it :-)

Funny Gaz…....I had a 33 today at Yarrawonga (Murray course) today. No wipes but too many 1 pointers when I wasted opportunities for a par on the hole. A little frustrated is an understatement.

Krish, I found that entering it on my phone was a pain as well. So this is what I do – I bought a pack of those old-fashioned index cards which I leave in the pocket of my golf bag with a rubber band around them. Every game that I want to record (which is most apart from team games and games where the course is undergoing renovations), I write the numbers 1 to 18 down the left side of the card when you look at it vertically.

I use the ruled lines as the “columns” and record score, putts, fairway (tick/L/R), bunker side sand shots and penalties. These are the stats that you need to put into golfshot. So after my round I leave the stat card in my pocket until it is convenient to put the score into golfshot.

These days I also use another two columns to record the 100m par 3 game that people have been talking about – I keep my own records of that in a spreadsheet that I maintain.

I find that this system makes it really easy – the index card fits inside the score card, so I carry it all together and record at the same time. Unlike a notebook I don’t have to remember to take it out of my bag and put it back etc.

Index cards… great idea…will pop down to office works today…. although I am more keen to take notes like Inkosi does, i think it might be easier to use the index card and develop codes for it… more than my stats I want to use the notes to identify recurring flaws in the my game….
