Topic: Home Practise Setup I contructed my own golf mat and it is very soft to stand on (good for your elbows and wrists) and doesn’t leave marks on your club. 1.2 m x 1.2 m, 3 layers (rubber bottom, foam middle, astro turf top) and all up about $130 for materials and glue. I guess time will tell if it is going to last or not. The net I bought from Big W is completely stuffed already, so now going to construct my own. |

Topic: Home Practise Setup Pretty much only way to miss is a shank and that is what the frame to the right is for, although I need to upgrade that a bit with shade cloth rather than bird netting. Eventually I will add a frame to the left side too. |

Topic: Home Practise Setup What are you planning on hitting the balls off? I played at richmond golf course today and when using their cages, the artificial turf put this green crap on the bottom of my clubs… The one in my garage seems to be more ‘bristley’ (if that is indeed a word) and leaves no marks. |

Topic: Home Practise Setup Sorry for coming in a bit late…I made my net myself from precut bits of gal from bunnings. Then I have hung a painter drop cloth over the frame as the hitting ‘net’ I am not 100% finished as I need to get some shade cloth sorted to do the sides properly. All up has cost me about $200 I would guess. Got a rubber mat to stand on from clarks rubber and a driving range mat off-cut to hit off. Sorry if this doesn’t explain it properly, will get a photo up tonight. |

Topic: Home Practise Setup Danz i’m in Sydneys’ Nth Suburbs. Try going to a few golf clubs or ranges and see what they have. Otherwise if you’re handy with tools, it wouldn’t be hard to construct something. ps. or maybe buy from o/s… http://www.sportnetting.com/ |

Topic: Home Practise Setup Bob, might help if you told us which city your from. There was a company in melbourne called international golf supplies …or something like that, I forget. They did cages for alot of clubs and use to be based at golf park on warrigal rd. The only other thing I could find was this…. Oxley in port melb. I use to have a net/cage in my backyard so I can offer these tips. Get the best quality netting you can source. The thickest netting is not always the best. Position the net that your balls hit at a 45 degree angle going away from you so that the balls deflect down to the ground and it takes most of the force. |

Topic: Home Practise Setup Why not get a driving cage that sets up like a tent and a matt to hit off (just some synthetic grass). Alot cheaper than the full blown metal cages and they serve the same purpose IMO. I’ve got one set up in the garage and it does the job perfectly. As for the other parts of the game, chipping and putting are all done in a carpeted hallway :P Mr C. |

Topic: How do I check if a set of clubs are fake. The best way to tell is to hold two clubs together, the set you purchased and one from a shop and look closely at them. Head thicknesses, lengths, shafts, grips, and then get the swing weights checked. |

Topic: How do I check if a set of clubs are fake. bigalracing alot of people have counterfeits and dont realise taylormade came out with a comment the other day saying even if you buy from a genuine dealer you could still buy a countefreit of their club as they do not check them as they come from china also the cor could be illegal as it is expensive to check every club ( all companies would do the same ) . i have seen the statistics companies are not stupid they buy clubs off ebay and check them 90% are fakes , mizuno are trying to find the guy in queensland who sells mizuno on ebay he has sold 80 sets all fakes he has the mp-57 that are still 2 weeks before release and he says he is a pro golfer and holds an account and surcharges $12 for graphite in mp-60 they dont come in graphite so every set he sells is fake . with the trading licence you are wrong as well when i worked at the golf store we had 2 guys buy cleveland hibore drivers off ebay as they were $100 cheaper than our price and they complained they didnt go looked at the driver on our rack and it was a good fake even the nv shaft was copied had buckets of torque and a different shade of green , the seller was a 100% ebayer with many transactions and offered 100% money back as long as they told no one who he was as he was a mojor golf retailer in queensland and was a genuine cleveland stockists , i also know of callaway stockists selling counterfeitsets as well as 2-ball putter fakes and one store was caught selling titleist pro v fakes that were made in taiwan as they did not have an account and bought them off ebay thinking they were genuine . im not saying that you have fakes in your bag im saying i would not recommend anyone buying good equipment off ebay unless you can view before bidding and if they have serial numbers ring the companies they will tell you straight away . i would rather be safe than sorry . |

Topic: How do I check if a set of clubs are fake.
I am from the U.S and so my experience could be a little different from the opinions in this thread. All the clubs I play can be considered high end (TM, Cleveland, Bridgestone) and except for my putter & GW, I have bought everything off ebay. In total I have bought 3 drivers, about 5 different woods, 3 different iron sets, several individual irons in the last 4 years. I have nothing but ABSOLUTELY the best experience with the various sellers. I have registered every equipment I have bought without any issue. I have gotten warranty work done by the manufacturer for 2 clubs. So given this experience, I have to question a lot of the statements made in this thread. Either they are out of ignorance or have some other hidden agenda. Almost every reputable local store in every major city in the U.S has an ebay presence. This is out of need as otherwise, they just cant survive anymore (Dallasgolf, gppgolf) are some of the examples of this. Even pre owned callaway outlet sells on Ebay. They are a lot of ebay & web only dealers like rockbottom golf whose equipment is as original as they make. So like in anything in life… a. shop with reputable merchants on ebay |

I would like to know where you conjour up this 90% volumne of high end gear is ebay counterfeits. 90% of my bag is from ebay, so that must mean to you that they are all counterfeits. If you can find a counterfeit item in my bag, I will kiss your @ss. I do acknowledge that there are fakes on ebay, but not 90% as you have just quoted. By the way, shops would be silly to buy genuine items on ebay bypassing the wholesaler if they wanted to keep their trading licence. |

Topic: How do I check if a set of clubs are fake. Questions to TaylorMade retailers. What is the policy regarding clubs that has been branded “NO WARRANTY”. I’ve seen clubs sold at eBay shops, like 3ball et al, with these words etched on the hosel, right next to the registration number. There’s also a sticker that reads “This club is not warranted by TaylorMade”. Are these fakes? Ex-demo clubs or QA rejects? |

Geez after reading this im gonna get my irons checked out by the pro ASAP… Then again it says they are tommy armour and not like tony armour so if they are represented as real, and they are fakes, im sure i can get the seller (with 25000 or so previous transactions to cough up). |

Topic: How do I check if a set of clubs are fake. Hi All I am an aussie currrently living and working in China and one thing I can tell you is ANYTHING can be copied ! Any brand of golf club is available here copied and looking NEARLY like the real thing. It’s not just callaway but Taylormade, Mizuno etc etc. They sell here for around150 AUD a set!! that includes a bag and if you realy push an umbrella. I have been in these places and seen people from all over the world ordering dozens of sets!! Who do they sell these to. Greedy people who want something for nothing. The lesson here. If you want the real thing be prepared to pay for it and get it from someone you trust, like someone who makes their living from selling clubs. Now if you think you are paying the right money and have some problems about the authenticity of the clubs, get one on loan and take it to a recognized dealer or pro and get them to check it out. Most fakes are easy to recognise when compared to the real thing. Plus the majority that i have tried are like playing with a broom stick!! I bought my last set of Callaway fusions from Australia , fitted and had them flown to China. I take no chances!! Have a good weekend all Alan |
