Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Tips for a Traveller - British Open 2009 Did it at 2006 at Hoylake, you are best looking for B&B’s as they are good value which includes breakfast, usually bacon & eggs, prices by then may have jumped to £40 but it will cheaper than hotels. Your main problem is that i think Turnberry is a bit remote & they nearly lost The Open if they didn’t improve the road in as they need to cater for at least 40000 a day. Will you play while you are there if so let me know i can give you some tips on the best places to play. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Sand Buckets Played Muirfield 2 years ago & that is all i saw the greens staff doing was walking down fairways putting sand into divots & no where else i played had sand buckets. It really does annoy me though here when there are signs saying you must take a sand bucket & use it but people just keep ignore it & alot of the time it is the low handicappers. |

Has it become a joke or does it need to be reworked. How is it possible that Harrington can not be in top 30 when he won 2 majors in a row. Ok he missed 2 straight cuts but that means there is only 1 major champion in the tour championship. Plus it is over no one can catch Vijay seems like a anti climax. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Katherine Hull well done! yes well done to her but he speech was disgraceful, she must of said appreciate it at least 5 times, who else is sick of golfers(mainly americans) say that in interviews but we she brought out religion that was it. how dare she say jesus helped her win, she won because she played good steady golf & the overnight leader chopped it badly. religion is something that should be kept private & kept well away from sport. do you think all those people living in poverty, victims of natural disasters or crime, is jesus looking after them or should he be helping people win golf tournaments. that is why australia is better place than america as we keep it to ourselves, most of the time. sick of it. it shows she has been over there way to long! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Mens Golf Apparel i recently went to rivers & got a zip up woolen jacket(not a cardigan) for $20 with diamond pattern on it, you don’t need to designer golf gear to get a bargain. going to england in october so will need it. will go to golf shops & see how much a rip off all this designer gear espcially the marshmellow that is poulter gear. what a wank, have you ever noticed all these guys who wear the tight shirts & white pants have never won a major or anything of note. it just shows how image is so much more important than talent these days, not just in golf. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / anyone played Brookwater in QLD....? played it twice, first time it was only $60 in 2002 not long after it opened& in a rope ambrose event in 2005 which we won having 22 under off the stick, won shirts, markers it was great fun & that was only $75. not sure how much it is now since it went private but i have to say it is one of the best courses i have played in australia. it is a shame you have to use a cart but the distances between tees are way to long. not sure if i will play it again, the highlight has to be the par 5 fifth. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / The Old Course, St Andrews yes it is a magical place & had 79 hits, the greatest thrill i have ever had(shame i cant break 80 on home course at the moment). my caddie was brilliant, would not have had that score if it was not for him guiding me around, he was well worth the £80 i gave him. birdied 5 & 7 missed a 5 footer on 14 for birdie & then 3 putted 16 from nowhere. was a bit messed up on the 17th tee(not a good place to be fragile) but nailed it over the old rail sheds made 15ft putt for par, never been so pumped on a golf course. i am not finished there i plan to have my 40th on the first day of the 2010 open. hope the next 2 years go just as quick. thanks for the post trysil, think i may look at my pics & videos right now. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Tiger out for the season And Adam Scott still wont win a major with out him there, i hope i am wrong but he just does not have the short game or the bottle to win one.He will make me look silly & win one now. One thing is there wont be as many audible god dammits for the rest of year, is that saying considered swearing. |

have to be the worst going round & after the incident with tony navarro it could get really ugly for appleby in the last round if he is in contention along with woods & mickelson. they are sore losers but even worse winners. saw some footage of the 2004 open with them booing goosen on his way to the 1st tee, disgraceful behavior for a gentlemans game, not to mention how they cheat with their mulligans & slope system. that is why they play so called “sports” that no other countries play so they don’t lose, plus they cannot drink! cmon apples stick right up em mate & take their open away from them for the 5th year straight. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Going to the Gold Coast I agree with GGM Murwillumbah is a great course for a town of that size, the best course in the northern rivers, it really does make Gold Coast golf look rather flat & boring. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Nerves of steel get Immelman the Masters He did try to blow it & he played the back nine well but one thing that has been overlooked was that Tiger did not make any putts(except on 11) & his luck was not in all week. Have never seen anyone make as many putts as he does & he usually gets more luck than anyone else, he can also play a bit. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Australian Open returns to Royal Sydney Will it ever get to NSW, i really think that the open should be played there one day.A great course deserves our biggest tournament. Sydney’s seaside courses are vastly underated, maybe the only thing stopping it at NSW is the infrastructure may not be good enough, but it has held the PGA & the ANZ. What would Peter Thomson think about that. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / planet golf received my copy of planet golf yesterday & was blown away some of the photo’s especially in scotland by david scaletti, they are so incredible it really does feel like you are there in the picture.having played some of these courses it gives a perfect picture of what is like. it was also nice to see some new pictures of ellerston, but also it seems such a waste that it is hardly ever played. this book really shows that scaletti is the best golf photographer going round. the only criticism would be some of text has been reused from australia’s finest golf courses & i think darius oliver goes a bit overboard with the rating systems, but golfers are a bit self indulgent at times, the photography truly is incredible. |

Topic: Golf Talk / us masters why does everyone including brett ogle(he should know better) continue to call it the us masters, the correct name is the masters.95% of people who watch golf are golfers & should know the difference. this comes about from every other golfing country has taken the name to copy the tournament, even tennis has nicked it.if you said to someone at augusta this they have you out the front gate very quick. the coverage may confuse people who are looking for the us masters but the get the masters instead, hope not! |
