Topic: Golf Equipment / Masker Forged 440CFT Driver Just a quick update. I put a DG S300 steel shaft in this thing & it is quite simply the longest I have ever hit anything. Played today & was a bit surprised at how far I was hitting it off the tee. I was going to look at a graphite shaft, but I can’t see the point in touching something that flies this good. |

Topic: The Lounge / What's your Favourite Beer I am a brewer by trade & an incredible beer snob. Unless I am sampling something pretty special, most of the time I won’t drink anything that I haven’t brewed. I currently have another test brew in the kettle so I have to type fast so I can turn off the gas & start the whirlpool. I hope that when I look back at this topic in a few months time somebody has included their favourite beer from the Flying Horse Bar & Brewery in Warrnambool. Drop in on your way back from Port Fairy GC. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Hit by Golf ball I got a bad one in the ribs as a kid. Full blooded drive out of the heal, wrong place wrong time.I copped one on the forehead that required a few stitches, but the worse was a rebound. My playing partner nailed an advertising sign on the side of the tee. It came back low & hot & copped me in the ankle. I limped up to play my second which was a pretty straight forward pitch of 60 yards. Stiffed it, tap in birdie. 2 under after 12 & had to walk (limp) off & had another trip for some X-rays. The worse wasgetting hit in the shins by a ball out of a bowling machine. No pads on, I almost threw up. Still can’t figure out how it didn’t snap my leg. Cheers |

Topic: Golf Talk / How Many Have Had Lessons I was playing off 3-4 for a few years with no real drama, but if I went & had a pitching lesson from Anne O’Neil who was back then teaching at Moore Park in Sydney, I would shoot under par for the next few rounds. I was always told that you should pick a coach that can beat you easily & is roughly the same size & build as you. With that in mind the two other guys that I have seen over the years have been in that catagory. When I started playing cricket a couple of seasons ago I headed down to see a batting coach for a few net sessions, the results were great. Saved me looking stupid & made alot more runs. There a quite a few coaches out there, I guess you just have to find what works for you. Cheers |

Topic: Sports Talk / Carrera Cup OK so maybe some of you are not familiar withh Carrera Cup racing. These are the guys that run around in support races at things like last weeks F1 Grand Prix. They all have very expensive Porsche cars that they spend even more money on to thrash about & hopefully not crash.Fair enough, what people do with their money is none of my business, and if they get their thrills from it then great. Anyway, I am sitting back watching the races & these cars have a 6 lap race. As they come back & cross the start/finish line after the first lap, the TV coverage picks up a radio message from the pit crew to a particular driver Cheers |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Port Fairy Well this is a pretty good course, tees, fairways & greens are in excellent nic. There are a few bunkers that look a bit overgrown, but I haven’t gone in one yet. I have been turning up on my own for a hit on a Sunday morning & have always found a group to join. The front nine is very enjoyable, but I guess the spectacular views on the back 9 are what people have been raving about. |

Topic: Golf Talk / tips for match play I always tried to be even par (or just even with your handicap keeping a stableford type score) after 6 holes & then do the same over the next 6 & the last 6. If that is a bit beyond you try to do it in 3 hole corners. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Masker Forged 440CFT Driver I have been given a 9 degree Masker Forged 440CFT Driver head. Anybody know much about these or actually used one? I am going to look at getting a shaft for it in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone has half an idea of what would suit it in a stiff flex I am all ears! |
