Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz Well I finally got to go on the course again, this time I took the Distance pro out for a hit. Since I usually use a D2 Feel, I only have this as a reference point Overall they are noticeably harder than the feel, I certainly expected it to go alot further than my usual ball Off the irons the ball feels very solid (rock solid actually) but does give a nice click when hit flush. The ball ran a fair way once landing, giving me an extra 3-4 meters then the D2. The biggest surprise for me was their behaviour on the putting green. They held their line even in the face of pitching marks, leaves and other crap on the green. Felt hard off the putter face as well, but rolled very straight. Only problem was since the greens were so fast after the heat here in Melbourne the ball wouldn’t stop. Downhill puts i barely whiffed at would travel 3-4 meters past the hole. Off the Driver these balls come into their own, excellent flight, and decent bounce and carry. I reckon I have hit some of my longest and most consistent drives with the distance pro Wear wise, these fared a lot better than the hi- soft and the D2. There was a but of scuffing from grass between the club and ball when struck, but nothing that couldn’t be wiped off. I believe I could get another 18 holes out of it at least (maybe more if I can avoid the sand traps) Overall, this ball is great for driving and average for irons and leaves a flame trail behind it off the putter. Perhaps a few more rounds with this ball may change my mind, but I would be tempted to stick with the hi-soft, primarily because it checks quicker on greens, and carries/bounces less. Just leaves the tour balls to try out, hopefully this feedback is helpful Boz BTW, i noticed there is a ladies ball in the famtom lineup, my wife was interested in trying these out if there are any to be tested Cheers Adam M |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz Took the power hi soft out for a burl today alongside my D2 feel that i have been using of late Overall they are quite a nice ball, come off the driver and irons well, certainly don’t feel like a rock. spin around the greens was good, the ball checked a little better than the D2 After 3 holes i started to notice a bit of wear on the ball, but once the round was over the wear was comparable to a D2 i would have used over the same 18 holes Off the putter the balls kept their line and rolled true, weren’t too soft, but softer than the D2 once again Overall a great ball, excellent feel and good durability for the target price range you are aiming for, I would probably use them over the D2 feel if they are in the same price range Will take the tour and distance balls out over the week and let you know how they go Cheers |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Lind Golf Brad, I bought one of the mojo 3 woods from you guys awhile ago, and while the club was excellent, I felt the head cover let the overall package down. There is no sleeve on the sock which does not protect the shaft in the bag Are there any plans to change this in the future? |

Topic: Golf Talk / What to do if someone is hitting golf balls at you? FYI guys and gals, there was a rather slow group of four bogans in flannies in front of us as well, so no point letting them through I did see the offending person in the carpark after I had packed up and he was very quick to dodge me once he realised who I was |

Topic: Golf Talk / What to do if someone is hitting golf balls at you? Went out for a quiet round at royal park in Melbourne with the wife and brother in law, but there was a group of 3 about 1 1/2 holes behind us. towards the 7th hole they caught us up and the youngest member of the group hit several drives quite close to us (within a meter or 2) on several occasions without any warning What is the best way to sort this kind of stuff out? the 1st time he did it I let it slide, the 2nd time I threw his ball into the bunker. should I confront him or report to the pro? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Freak Shots I was on a par 4 and only been playing for 2 months with a $50 set of ancient golf clubs off of eBay, 2nd shot, managed to get it up in the air and it bounced onto the green from a hill nest to it, missed my 1st birdie putt but made par, was happy for that! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Does equipment really matter? I can sympathise with you draco, I am in a similar boat to yourself. My clubs are of varied (read aincient) quality and length, at the very least I suggest you get a set that are all the same type of club My own suggestion is to look around on the net or duck into a pro shop and see what you can get within your budget There are plenty of online shops and eBay as well if you are into that |

Topic: Golf Equipment / New player looking for an Iron set Hi everyone, 1st post here :D I recently got into golf through a few mates, and loving going the hack whenever I can. However being a poor uni student in Melbourne the best i could do was an ancient set of clubs off eBay for $50. One of them even has tape for a handle, and the bag fell apart the 2nd time i took it out (but has since been replaced) So what I am looking for is a nice forgiving set of irons good for a newbie like myself, but I don’t want to break the bank. Looking for any recommendations for good golf stores either in Melbourne or online and any tips on a good set of clubs to get myself started off properly with. Cheers all |
