here is some interesting news on the bend as of next april the front nine will be closed and re constructed with the back nine staying open untill the front nine and driving range are finshed

I read about it on Tuesday in that golf course architecture journal of record - MX. From memory the pro's company has won the tender for the redevelopment. I'd assume the course architect role will be contracted out, but who knows, they might keep it in house to save money. Course will be out of action for 9 months, although they may keep nine in play.

Isn't Yarra Bend for all intents and purposes Mick Morcom's only 18 hole design?

[font="Comic Sans MS"][/font] i have the word from a very reliable source that this is what the changes will be at yarra bend. 1 the driving range will be where the 4th/5th holes currently are
2 the back and front 9 will be changed around
3 the oval will have at least the new 10th on it
4 the will be no new hole where the nightmare 17th currently is
5 it is being design by Thompson and Perret
6 it is due to close around next easter for at least 12 months (depends on weather)
