Topic: iseekgolf Golf Days / ISG Vic OOM#3 - Sandhurst Club, 2nd June 2013

Thanks for the hit today Goldy, Mick and FB.
Always good to recon an OOM course.
Course was quite damp in spots but still played well.
Greens should be looking the goods on the day.
As long as it doesn’t blow a gale there will be some great scores.

Topic: Golf Talk / Why do I play golf?

I play golf for the one day when every aspect of my game will click during one round.
How many times have we hit heaps of fairways and greens only to putt like a peanut…..
Or perhaps you drive like a champ but can’t hit a short itron to save yourself etc etc…..

One day it’s all going to click on the day, and that quest is why I’m as addicted as a crack whore to this game.

Topic: Sports Talk / Melbourne Demons - what to do?

I know of one young player (Hayden Crozier at Freeo), was offered deals from Melbourne, St Kilda and Bulldogs and he just resigned for two more years with the Dockers.

All those clubs offered a lot more cash and guaranteed him extra game time.
He’s in his second year at Freeo and has played 5 games now.
He elected to stay at Freeo for the chance to be involved in a club with solid Finals prospects.

His is one story, but how many other kids at other clubs would do the same thing?
My guess is plenty.

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend?

Today was a good day.
Played at Waterford Valley in their comp.
Hit 11 fairways and 11 greens.
Had 3 up for the day, was the outright comp winner and finally got back into single figures

Topic: Sports Talk / WELL done Jason Collins for coming out

Just came to this thread late. I get really annoyed about (1) people publicly ‘coming out’, and (2) the fuss that’s made.

Someone’s sexuality is completely irrelevant to me, and I have a care factor of zero.

So when someone stands up and tells the world (including me) that they’re homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, or trisexual I treat it with the same interest as them telling me when they last opened a packet of chips.

My reaction is usually, “Huh, so what?”

Surely you can understand the gravity of being the first openly gay male athlete in US professional sport?!

Topic: Golf Equipment / Combo iron sets

Whatever gets the job done.
Combo wise a lot of people have 4-6 of iron x and 7-pw of iron y
You may want something different, but thats a good place to start

Did you say “the guy in front is”?

Haha
No, I did what any good father would do when faced with such a question…
I told her to ask her mum

Topic: The Lounge / Funny Car Bumper Stickers

Funniest one I’ve ever seen was ” I love my dildo”
Better yet, the driver was male.

Even better still, when i saw it i was in a car with my 10 year old daughter who proceeded to ask “what’s a dildo?”

Best of luck with a speedy recovery Yaksta.
Take it easy though.

As long as he doesn’t select West End beer from his home state of SA.
Would have to be the single worst beer ever brewed.
I’d rather drink warthog piss

Are any recon round slots being booked?
I’d certainly be up for a sneak peek before the day

If bag chatter disturbs you, you might want some head covers as the 825 Pros are forged.
Otherwise, let the world see your Mizzy flag fly

Topic: Sports Talk / Damien Hardwicks "joke"

Is the bogey on 18 the same as a bogey on 1 if it was caused by a member of the gallery accidently kicking a ball into the bushes?
Yes the result on the scorecard is the same, but it does ultimately affect the outcome.

I’m not even a Tigers supporter, but they have a right to bitch when officials screw up and change the course of events.
That’s totally different to a player missing a tackle, mark or shot on goal.

Feel on jpx 825 pro is just as buttery as any mp iron!

Maybe a new marketing tag line for Mizuno…..
“JPX Pro – I can’t believe it’s not an MP”

Topic: Golf Equipment / Quick Rangefinder poll

Carson, does this have a big sticker …LOOK THROUGH THIS END!

I now have a term called “The Carson” – this is after hitting a crap shot followed by a loud ARRRGGGHHHH.
Did that a lot this weekend
:)

LOL
I need to buy myself a label maker Kinesh, just to be sure :)

And yes, the vocalisation after a poor shot is most definitely a trademark of mine

Topic: Golf Talk / How old are you, and how long have been playing?

40 years old.
Been playing golf weekly for the last 12 years
First picked up the game as a kid about 12 years old but then didn’t pick up a club for about 15 years.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Mizuno choice

Your choice may come down to what you like to look at when you address the ball.
The JPX have a thicker topline than the 53’s.
I hit both when I was iron shopping a couple of years ago and went with the JPX 800 Pros as I felt I hit them a tiny bit better on the day.
Within two months I’d picked up some MP 60’s on eBay as I didn’t like the look of the bigger JPX heads.
I now play MP 52’s for a bit of extra forgiveness and love them.
Should have just gone with the 53’s in the first place :)
Perhaps you could even look for a second hand set of 52’s, they’re pretty cheap these days.
There’s very little difference in feel between the 52’s and 53’s.
I think the 53’s may have slightly stronger lofts though.

Played one of my Z star freebies today.
Felt nice off the club and putter but didn’t find it stopped as quick as I’d like on approach shots.
FWIW I normally play a Penta

Topic: Golf Talk / I broke 90 for the first time!!!

Well done mate, it’s a milestone an awful lot of golfers never achieve.
Sounds like consistency was the key for you with no real blow out holes to speak of.
There’s also an awful to to be said for the “take your medicine” approach and not going for hero shots when you find yourself in trouble.
Keep playing solid, percentage golf and you’ll find yourself breaking 90 quite regularly I bet
