Topic: Golf Talk / Grady wins back to back at Handa Open Went out & watched a few of the closing holes this afternoon, particulary the last group with Grades, Merriman & Serhan. Grades hit the ball great particularly off the tee, gets it out there a good way with a nice high draw. Surprised to hear he has struggled in the States this year on the Seniors. He seems to get it around still quite good. Easy to see why in his heyday he won a PGA & nearly an Open. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Recommendation for Golf practice range in Sydney, NSW Barton Park Range near the airport at Arncliffe is good – you hit proper balls not range balls & plenty of grass areas to hit off – can’t see the value in practising on astro turf mats & rubber tees. Homebush is rubbish – balls are old & hardly fly so tough to workout how you are hitting the ball. |

Topic: Golf Talk / US PGA should not have clashed with Olympics...no brainer I would imagine the logistics in setting tournament dates on something as big as the US Tour would be mind boggling appeasing sponsors, corporates, qualifier scheduling, course availability etc – whether the Olympics is on in China would be very low on the radar and I would even suggest the average American sports fan couldn’t careless about the Games until the Dream Team is playing. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Troon setup for Senior Open Have been enjoying watching some of the Senior Open coverage on Fox each day to keep the Open mood from last week continuing. Notice the scoring from the seniors appears quite good with 5 under leading & the Shark shooting 67 today. Is the course setup much differently for the Senior guys? The wind doesn’t seem to have blown, which may have helped, but still appears to be a couple of par 4s over 450 yds so it is impressive scoring by the old fellas? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Bellarine Peninsula - Where to play? Will be around this area this weekend , with another mate of mine from Sydney. Currently we are staying at the Peppers Resorts at The Sands & playing there Saturday , with 13th Beach, Beach course on the Sunday. Is the Sands a good option to play as I know the Beach course is rated well or would it be better playing the Creek course vs The Sands or somewhere elsewhere altogether?. Seeking opinions from those who have played courses down there. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Forgiving 3 wood I have about a 4yr old Cobra SZ 15d 3w with Adila stiff shaft. 180cc head. Great club, goes miles. Haven’t hit the new models but presume just as good. I reckon Cobra make the best value for money woods |

Topic: Golf Talk / Toughest course you have played Barnbougle Dunes & Magenta – Obviously both are capable of having plenty of wind & you are basically dead if off the fairway & not much room around the greens either. The 8th about 445m Par 4 at BD comes to mind – off the fairway or green mostly dead & a big cross breeze off Bass Strait. Pacific Harbour is a good test as well. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Clubs nearish North Caulfield Melbourne? Hi , Staying in North Caulfield Melbourne over New Years…..any good clubs worth playing that would have an Open Day on a Sunday 30th Dec fairly handy by? Somewhere about 15min away would be best as don’t want to make my wifes friend drive too far as I am getting run down to Southern the day before, as they go shopping, as my Syd club has reciprocals there! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Parry wins Australian Open thriler Was at The Australian today & watched most of Paz on the back nine – awesome performance…probably a bit biased as his win helped me in the hip pocket as well! How good is this guys short game & putting …..the up & down at 4, that 50 yd pitch at 14 to hit the lead & that was alot of guts at 17 to save par. At that stage it was really chucking down & he held his nerve. Standing behind him he gets out there ok, hit a great drive at the long 16th that split the centre with his little cut & went close to 250m in heavy conditions. One of the highlites for mine was standing behind Won Jon Lees drive at 18. Can this kid hit a mile!.......his drive went about 4 storeys high , dead straight & about 330m with little effort! Not sure if he is on a tour next year but what an impressive 66. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Norman to play South African Open No issue here, he has busted his gut for the Australian Tour for 30 years & it seems he is playing the SA Open due to it tieing into his business interests rather than anything more sinister. Receives mainly good press when down here but there seems to be some golf writers down here, noticeably Tom Ramsey who like to stick the daggers in at every oppurtunity. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stand bag for going on holidays and how many clubs to take Don’t fly Jetstar – they are A-holes & any golf stuff you take counts to part of your luggage allowance of 20kg….......I find clubs in a travel bag end up weighing close to 15kg so it doesn’t leave much for anything else to go over. Virgin don’t count it as part of your allowance so are the ones to go with. Take your stand bag with all your sticks & you can hire a pull buggy at the other end for $5 if you dont want to carry them. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Adilda VS S v Speeder Shaft S - Differences? Guys, Tried a Cobra Baffler Pro 2/R with an S Speeder shaft – Quite like it & planning on getting one. Just checking the differences in the shafts between the Adilda VS Proto 65 & Fujikura Speeder…..is one stiffer…hit the ball lower etc ….....swing the driver at around 105mph so just looking for best shaft before purchase. |

Topic: Golf Talk / British Open: The major Major That Carnoustie course this year was fantastic, as are most of the Open rotator courses. All elements of the game tested & imagination to boot. US PGA feels a bit too regular Tour event sometimes with some of the courses they use, though Southern Hills was quite good this year. Shame Australia is so far away & in the wrong time zone, the Aussie Open would be as good as any other tournament because of our quality of courses if it had the best in the world playing. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Pushing Drives My bad shot was a push as well…....i found my ball had crept a little back in my stance, so I now check my ball is up on my left heel or instep…....gives the clubhead a bit longer to square up – hit the ball consistently straighter now. Also if I try to hit the ball too hard I will drop inside & push/hook the ball as well. Work on a smoother tempo & ensure you complete your backswing. |

Topic: Golf Talk / US Open Bets
Don’t know how long you can hit 2 irons on Par 4s ranging from 450-500 yards!.........this course plays twice as long as Hoylake he is going to have to hit his driver well at some stage to win. Gotta a lazy tenner on Nick Fasth at $26 now…...this course is brutal anyone last man standing can win. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Anyone ever hear of these clubs? Got one of these clubs in a 1 iron believe it or not….....think I wanted a 1 iron because Sandy Lyle won the US Masters with it in ‘89, havent hit for that long cant remember how it went, I would say the clubs would be around 1990 vintage. |
