Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge On another note….I’m UP to 91’5kg nowadays!!! Not particularly disappointed as my boobs have been replaced with hard muscle, my arms are bigger and the veins are showing and my wife reckons I look better than the day we met, so not all bad. Will still be aiming to get back under 90 pretty soon but is taking a lot more effort than it used to!!! |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge Smergs, I think they do the swim in the man-made lakes at Kialla Lakes….would still be a few laps I’d imagine!!! Ari has inspired me and I have decided to step it up a little so I’m going to start training for a triathalon/ironman event (maybe a 1/2 or mini one first up)....have not earmarked one yet but will do soon!!!! Scarey stuff…..I’ve done a few 10k runs and they were NOT easy so not sure how I’ll cope but hey, “tri” anything once!!!! |

Hell I would be in a pine box after an iron man event. Well done Ari. Had an easy 2nd week, still dropped .5 of a kg with less exersise and no rigid diet plan. Back into the program on thursday/friday to drop some kgs and detox the body. |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge Ari… superb stuff. You should be super proud! By the way, where do they do a 9km swim in Shep? Is that in the pool (180 laps!) or down the river? Also gang, jumped on the scales at the Blood Bank this arvo. First time on the scales and was a little nervous. Came in at 98kgs fully clothed! That’s a new low for me. Although I do need to weigh in on the Wii in the morning as that is the ‘benchmark’. Stay tuned. |

Absolutely Smergs I can play golf anytime but now it can be a part of an exercise routine. |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge I’ve had plenty of funny looks and comments as I’ve played through groups. Plenty of “what are you doing?”, “training? what is that?” kind of things. But most people are pretty respectful and realise I’m travelling at a much faster pace than anyone else on the course. And mate, it’s a work out. Do it once and record your time and score. There’s your bench mark. Then try and beat it each time. I’ve gone: 2hrs, 90 As you sweat more and breathe harder it affects your golf. But to be honest it’s not really about the golf. For me it’s about doing something I enjoy to get my heart rate up. Like you, jogging holds very very little attraction. But tell me I can chase a golf ball, and I’m there. |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge Thanks Smergs, that is good enough detail for me. Will just take a lighter load with me in my travelling golf sleeve/bag and wear a mask coz people will get freaked out if they see me ‘jogging’ |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge Mate, if you want official speed golf check out YouTube. Plenty of freaks on there showing just how it’s done. For me, all I do is take my buggy and all my gear out onto the course and just run/jog with it. I’ve thought about reducing the amount of equipment but I figured I get a bit more work pushing/pulling the buggy and bag around also. I play to full golf rules with the exception of taking the flag out when I putt. And I certainly don’t wait 5min to find lost balls… Quick look then off to the provisional. If you don’t want to take your gear I reckon a small bag with extra balls, tees etc and probably 4/5 of your most versatile clubs would do. I’m thinking of trying it with a 3w, 5i, 9i, putter combo. Might learn something about manufacturing shots as well. |

Sounds like fun Smergs. Can you give me a brief set up to do it I guess just a few clubs balls and off I go. I like the idea of Speed Golf, to up the ante on my fittness. |

Topic: 2011 ISG Weight Loss Challenge Why not try Speed Golf mate? I went out around the Marsh the other night, jogged/ran around the 18 in 1hr 50min, certainly got the sweat up. The golf suffered because of the heavy breathing and sweating but was still fun and better than just going for a run. |

Thanks Smergs was not that hard. Although had to play 9 holes a day for the 90 minute walk. Was planning on less golf in November to let the body recuperate, just stiopped the range work and in nine holes social hitting it is only 40-45 hits all up. I honestly cannot do the walking/jogging for exersise routine. Combine it with golf and it makes sense instead of just walking or running around for 90 mins or so. |
