ISG day 13th sept

The course
Trentham golf course, (near Woodend)
what an absolute gem.
Up hills,round corners,
Not to long with slick greens and 2 of the best par 3’s i have ever played. Talk about “oh man what club do you play here”.
Both way down hill to oblong/oval sloping at right angle greens.
As the holes meandered round it was like an adventure.
Where do we go next?
The 2 locals Bill & Peter (the brickie).
Warning Don’t shake hands with a bricklayer if you have broken bone in your right hand.
Very pleasant, esp Peter when he was asked to speed up play from a chap who was in a pair behind us. We were a 4 playing 2 man ambrose so slowish. Showed great restraint but colourfull language.
And Bill who still had to use a drive and nailed it on the 18th.
No pressure.
I think liv4golf summed it best by saying
“when i retire this is the sort of course i will join”
Locals were awesome.

The Comp
2 person Ambrose, as above we did win with a 2 under as a gross score.
but man pick a partner who would like to have a crack at long drive.
I didn’t hit a fairway wood all day.
And on that 11th hole i hit a 215m (that’s huge) drive but had to use the one that was 7m out not the one 70m out,
I also snagged a ball on the 2nd for closest to pin woo hoo.
And how we all got out alive as rohan1981 & beno got on the podium too.

The ISG crew
Rohan1981, Fungs, liv4golf, Steve75, Beno and Publish.
All nice to meet you and will have to do this again for sure.
This was one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf i have played.
It was a shame we didn’t get to play together,
but that gave us time to have a cold sip and get to know in the club rooms.

The starter
John,
well he was stressed before we got there,
the sun was to hot,
we didn’t do a card,
we don’t take bookings, how many times do i have to tell you!
turns out Michellle may have informed some body we were coming but not HIM.
So in future i think just say “we would like to enter the comp please”.
Cost $14, yep that’s $14
green fee’s and comp, go figure

Weather
Moderately windy, no clouds and about 25 deg.

Disqualified
The local hotshots didn’t read what the comp was on the board so DQ’d. Thank you very much.

Growling frog
Man i felt sorry for you Liv4…..
been there done that

Liv4 golf
Thanks for the kind praise and the gift voucher big fella.

Now steve75 about that game at northern…..

Live4/Kiwi, congrats on the win, sounds like a great day.

How about the wind, never been in anything like it. I was at Torquay Sands. Reading the Herald Sun coming back to Sydney last night saw some bloke won their Sunday comp with 23 points. Course was rated 79.

Live4, Ew golf on Sunday would have been ROUGH but better than a dog show!

Hey has anybody got any interest in the ISG interstate golf comp thing that is running in one of the other threads? Maybe we could get the Vic up and going seeing as there isn’t one?

So, back to Sunny, calm Sydney and ready to write my report….

Saturday at Trentham was a sensational day, fantastic course, great company and it was excellent to catch up with all the ISGers. Kiwi, thanks for picking me up and taking me in…the trip to and fro mthe course was good fun too. Our company on the day, Peter and Bill, were just great blokes, very helpful and friendly (except where Bill broke Kiwi’s hand…..the bloke has one hell of a grip on him).

The course is a real little beaut, if you are in Melbourne and have never played there, do yourself a favour and go you will not be disappointed. If you rate yourself as a long hitter there is more incentive to go as it is a very tantilising length, many holes are just over or just under 300m.

Obviously I am proud to report thart Kiwi and I did in fact win the day with a sensational 2 under par round (68, made it 62.25 after handicap, this could have seriously been 6 shots better if not for the fall of the green, we had heaps of putts that just missed or lipped out)....there was a bit of controversy in the scoring shed with the local team being DQ’d but history will forget that fact…. :)

I personally had a top day with my Driver….that drive on 11 was not the only one FUNGS, most things I tried worked…match that with Kiwi’s sensational short game and, well, what a team….it was soooo much fun :)

It was great to meet Publish too, sorry you didn’t get the bacon in your matchplay but it was great to meet you face to face, I am envious you play Trentham when you want…especially in the snow :)

Great day was had by me, thanks to all the ISGers who attended (especially Kiwi, if you have never played with him make it a goal that you do it, he is one of the nicest, most genuine guys you will EVER meet) and all those involved with Trentham, thank you, great course.

Now I have a bit to write up about Growling Frog…but those of you in Melbourne can understand I am still not over it yet, especially with the 100km’h winds we saw on Sunday…..I’ll write that up after my next psychiatrist session :(

Thanks to all.
Had a great day even though I played like shite.
Apologies to Steve for having to carry the can for our team.
High light of the day may have been Live 4`s 285 metre drive off the 11th, just to the left of the green, that rattled one of the blokes we were playing withwho was lining up to putt.
Not a happy chappy.
Wanted to laugh, but wasn`t game to.
I think he could have been related to the bloke doing the tee off times.
Similar temperment.

looking forward to the report on this!

the report is in the Herald Sun

Good work Kiwi & live4golf

Second that, well done Kiwi and Live4 great day out in the sun (my arms look something like Kiwi’s red shirt). Old mate organising the teeoff times hates your guts though, I think you gave him an aneurysm (the woman who booked us in, didn’t tell him we were coming and he was stressing). goes back there make sure to book under the name Murray, you prolly won’t get on the course (more likely run out of town)

Kiwi and Live4 won the day (I think or were you 2nd) although a little controversial with the a local pairing being disqualified but a few shots ahead of them (isn’t it usually the other way around disqualify the vistors? Too nice those Trentham folk)

Beno, you and I also some how won a ball (finished about 5th), I have your ball if you want it? Or I could mount it to a piece of that tree on the 14th as trophy for managing to hit the limb hanging out over the fairyway.

Did anyone catch why those blokes who won got disqualified?

Publish, can you also pass on my thanks to the club for a great day on a superbly presented little course. Will be back for sure.
