Topic: The Lounge / Say No at the Dentist! Just got suckered into the biggest scam going around. Next time you go to the Dentist for a check up and clean, you will notice that at the end of the consult they will start telling you how to brush your teeth and how to floss. What they won’t tell you is that they will hit you with a $40 fee in addition to your consult/clean fee for “Instructions on how to brush teeth!” When I enquired, I was advised that it was common practice among all dentists to charge for this. I rang my Insurance company and they confirmed that this was the case. Their suggestion was next time some dental nurse starts telling you how to brush your teeth just say “NO!” GGrrrrrrr Eek |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Bags aint Bags E & B Bags are well made [ I hve the pinehurst] but I find it a bit heavy for lugging around to practice etc etc. So i have a sun mountain carry bag in the car for use during practice rounds and driving range and I only use the E & B Bag for comp. Sun Mountain make really really good carry bags. They’re really light. Eek |

Topic: The Lounge / Islam - what do you think? I like the cut of your Gib young Heno! Being a practicing Catholic, I can understand why people who would bag religion, but as mentioned in this forum, its not the religion it’s the crzy people who do stuff in the name of their religion. I’ve personally been involved and seen some pretty amazing charitable works done by both Catholic/ Budhist / Muslim volunteers who try and do the right thing. There are alot of really good people out there! But there will always be nuts in any group [as I normally find out when I turn up for my regular 4bbb] =) |

Topic: Golf Talk / Is it really true... Ok guys. I’ve only been playing for only a couple of years and I have never ever had anyone explain to me when exactly is it appropriate to let someone play through. We try to let faster groups play through on Call up holes but I don’t think any group I have played with on comp day have ever let a group behind us play through IF we are keeping up with the group in front of us. I thought the etiquette was that you keep up with the group in front. Are we suppose to let groups faster than us play through the comp field? doesn’t that just cause a bigger delay for the whole field? Eek |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Scuff marks on FW Wood Hi Guys Any one know how to get rid of those horrible scuff marks that indent themselves half on the face of the club and half on the top of the head? Its a real eye sore every time I address the ball and look down to see the ugly reminder of a bad swing! I have tried “colouring” in the marks with a black vivid but it doesn’t work. Its almost like I need a panel beater for clubs! Eek |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / anyone played Brookwater in QLD....? I actually liked Brook water! I thought it was very challenging and it made you think a wee bit. A couple of tips.. 1. its not eaxactly in central Brisbane so allow yourself enough time to get to the course. 2. Bring a stack of balls because OUT OF BOUNDS @ Brookwater is really OUTOF BOUNDS! slim chance of finding your ball! and the pro shop make you take a mortgage to buy balls there.. overall one of my favourite courses. You should try HOPE ISLAND Eek |

Topic: Golf Equipment / The Fairway wood question I carrry a “snake basher” club in my bag for such an occasion. Its a 2# iron [$10] from cash convertors that I shortened to the length of my 7 – iron. I use it for under trees/ among roots/ on gravel/ in the jungle sort of shots where you need a low flight AND/OR you don’t want to damage any of your good clubs. Sadly, its my most used club in my bag. =( |

Topic: Sports Talk / Many say ALi is the greatest Back to Ali… As a boxer, it was widely accepted [in boxing circles] that Ali was technically flawed. Don’t get me wrong, great man, big heart and all that but apparently he was technically lazy. For instance, he had a lazy right guard which meant he was prone to get hammered with left jabs and hooks. This is nothing to take away from his great achievements as a great sports ambassador. Eek |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Callaway introduces FT-iQ smart driver I’m currently using the FTi and at address it doesn’t look any different at all. Bottom line, if it helps me stay on the fairway and further than my mates than I would use a shoe box on the end of a broom stick! Eek |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Taylormade Burner Steel FW Hi de ho Just FYI. I have been hunting around for the very popular TM Burner Steel FW that is going to be now superceded by the Burner High/Tour Launch Model [Think big “B” on the sole] and one of the managers from a golf chain retail store rang TM to ask for a spec they didnt have in stock. Apparently, [and please take this with a pinch of salt] there is a big whole shipment of the burners arriving to Australian shores within the next 4- 5 weeks as the US is clearing them out to make way for the new stuff. Expect to see the price drop rather drastically apparently. For the record, I got suckered into getting the 08 model of the TM Burner FW. =) Eek! |
