Gold creek held one a few years back.
They used the 18th , played opposite to normal though.
You hit from the club house stairs, over the green and down the fairway.

Gungahlin Lakes is in much better condition at the moment.
They are still in the process of improving a few tee boxes and paths. This means some holes are playing shorter/longer while the tee boxes are being re-turfed.

Gold Creek is a bit dry at the moment. Some areas of the fairways are pretty rough. I still enjoy playing here though. If you do play Gold Creek I would recommend a cart. The walk between holes is pretty long.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stupid question - Why do people carry their clubs?

I carry my bag. However I do find the sand bucket annoying.
So where can I get one of these “sandman sand buckets”. I’ve never seen or heard of them.

Also, being new to golf. What do you mean by knocking in your divots? Is this a practice I should be doing? At the moment I just replace the divot and sand the edges to make it even??

Topic: Golf Talk / Handicap Question

Guys,

Myself and 2 friends have just joined a club and want to get our handicaps.
We’ve been advised we must hand in 5 cards from Comp rounds to obtain this.

Can the 4th player (existing member) who is signing our cards still compete in the comp?
I’m unsure if one of the no hcp players can sign his comp card ??

Thanks,
Bailes

Topic: Golf Equipment / Precept Laddie Xtreme

I just recently got 4 dozen of the Laddies from Rockbottomgolf.
They are currently selling for $35.96 (US) for 4 dozen.
Shipping is probably expensive if you are only getting balls.
I was already ordering some other gear and the balls didn’t add any extra cost to shipping.

My handicap is around the 20 mark, so I’m focusing more on swing instead of expensive balls.
So far I really like this ball. Especially for the cost.

Try Gold Creek Tourist resort…. not sure of prices, but it’s only 2 mins from GCGC.
The next closest would probably be Yowani, 5 mins drive.

Topic: The Lounge / How much is too much

$1000 an hour isn’t too bad a price really.
$1000 an hour = $16.60 a minute. I’d be getting change back from a $50!!!

Topic: The Lounge / Outlook Express Help

Hi Cleve,

As PJ said, the best thing to do is remove all emails from your “outbox”. Everytime you open OE it will try and send everything from this folder. If there is 27mb of emails it will freeze most of the time.

If you can’t simply delete the files you might want to try the instuctions I found these at http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/ArticleID/19787/19787.html

Hopefully this helped.

Cheers, Bailes

Cheers Bailes - was that because of road trouble ?

I believe it was due to road issues. The tees were also moved about 20mts left (away from road) during the process.

Has there been any other changes to the layout over the past few years ?

Tees on 2nd moved left and down (away form houses). They used to be built up on a massive mound.
The 8th had extra fairway and greenside bunkers added .
And as was mentioned earlier, the 16th is now a par 4. (Par 5 for comp play)

Do they still have the couple of practice holes ? For mine - GC had some of the best practice facilities (incl. hitting off grass) going round.

The practise holes still exist, however due to the current drought they aren't in the best condition. The tees and greens are still maintained but there is very little fairway. Still good for practise though!

Topic: Golf Architecture / Gold Creek - ACT

It's been a while since I've been there have any houses been built around t the inside of Gold Creeks land ?

No houses have been built inside the orignal course boundaries. There is some new houses around the course, but these blocks of land sold when the course was new and it was always expected that houses would eventually be built on them.

Does the F9 start these days with the short P4 across the road or the long P4 downhill ?

The Front nine still starts across the round from the club house, short par 4. (The 1st was redesigned about 2 years ago, it now has a small dog leg left)
