Any 9-scr using I10's
You get what you pay for! The srixons may be good clubs but how will they look after 12-24 months???? The pings are good clubs, well made, and will stand up to the test of time. Cannot go wrong with i10’s.
Sorry about the above stuff up hit the wrong button !!
I too have the srixon I -506 and they are fantastic they are in fact 6 struck forging as against 4 struck of mizunos and titliest ( check their website ) also they are made in japan as against titleist and taylor made which are made in china being 6 struck they are stronger but still soft and will last better then any 4 struck in terms of normal wear and tear
ping of course are cast and still made in america which is a plus for them,i have hit the s-58 and they were nice but not as nice as the 506
like most things in life top dollar doesnt automatically represent good value for money titleist and taylor made have huge endorsement contracts to cover which is why they charge more for their equipment i suggest that everybody have a try with the srixons when looking for a new set People shouldnt confuse the Srixon I series with their intoductory tc series

Any 9-scr using I10's
thanks golfguy….very much appreciated.. can I give my normal plug for srixon 1-506’s…can be had for $450….new!!...I have hit the i10’s and they are nice but I-506’s leaves them for dead!! The question was about PING’s. Not steve rixons!!!!! dood chil…was just giving an example wher I believe an iron is better for almost 1/3 the cost….sorry to be so obvious…but hey if someone can svae 700 large isnt that a good thing?? I aslo did comment on the i-10’s You get what you pay for! The srixons may be good clubs but how will they look after 12-24 months???? The pings are good clubs, well made, and will stand up to the test of time. Cannot go wrong with i10’s.

thanks hey i see you have the cobra driver what to you think do you hit it further
I previously had a mizuno driver that i hit further but not always where i wanted it to go i find i hit the cobra well and compared with my regular playing partners i am out there with them but i think the main point is i am more accurate with this

iron accuracy
Interested to see you have reg shaft in the driver but stiff in the 3w & hybrid.Do you consider 30% with the 3 iron acceptable, not sure that I do. 90% with 9 iron is probably about right. A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(
No one who ever had a lesson would have a swing like mine
Lee Trevino
The reg shaft in driver suits my swing speed but when i come to the 3w and hybrid i like the idea of the stiff shaft to help with shots out of rough seems to work ok as 3w and hybrid 2 of my favourites

iron accuracy
assuming we are not all scratch markers here what do you consider acceptable for hitting greens with irons i.e. of 3 iron shots do you expect to hit the green as against of 9 irons you expect to hit the green I use the club as a guide so if hitting a 6 iron i would expect a 60% chance that i will put it on the green Hopefully when hitting a 9 iron i would expect a 90 % chance I may not always acheive my percentages but i think it helps with your expectations with different clubs and helps with concentration what does everyone think ???

what irons are you lefties playing?
As you can see on my signature i have the srixon i-506 irons 3-pw I looked round and hit a few different clubs and in the end it was a toss up between mixuno mp-32 s and the 506s the 506s won mainly on price being $699 to about $1200 i absolutely love them forged cavity blades sweet to hit in fact a mate who has mizunos has hit them and was impressed enough to think about a set they now have the I-701 tour out but nothing wrong with the 506 model

Kangaroo Valley or Mount Broughton?
Danny mt broughton off the plates is apparently the longest course in australia, where you need plenty of good drives just to make the fairways ( i think they say that on their website) kangaroo valley is a different type of course but i love it …played it now 6 times and would be a member if a bit closer to home It just has a lot of different types of holes that make you think If you have a bit of time it would only be 20 mins from mt broughton .... do yourself a favour and take a short trip and check it out also grab a pie at the worlds greatest pie shop just outside the village on the way in worth the drive alone

CLUBS AND CARS
Ive always said that golf clubs and cars are very similar each comes out with a new model each year. Always better than last year people also compare the pros and cons of both clubs and cars.you see it here daily Having said that what do you rate your own irons with in the cars category i have srixon I-506 irons and they are rated pretty highly so i would say they compare with something like a honda civic euro not everyones cup of tea but those who have them will swear by them say mizuno to lexus etc etc. What is everyones thoughts

Etiquette
From my experience of playing in a lot of comps around sydney i would say about 1/3 of golfers are lacking in etiquette main complaints would be talking when a ball is on the tee or during a pre shot routine, moving while you play a shot even when they are not in your group but a close by they dont stop walking past you ive said it before i think a lot of clubs are happy to take the money then send the new guy out and leave it to us members to sort him out Ive played with new members who didnt even have an idea of the rules can make for a bit of frustration but there worse things in life i suppose

What is That Thing in Their Bag?
they use them to hold their various headcovers while playing shots etc note that a lot have putter covers and the caddie lays the bag down so by putting it on the stick( probably an old graphite shaft ) they wont loose them phil mihkleson comes to mind as doing this

American coverage
How bad is the yank golf coverage on fox All they show are stats and flowers or water some of the commentaters are getting paid under false pretences That Gary Mccord should be working on romper room I actually like Nick Faldo and of coures Baker finch should just be doing the whole show by himself, he really makes for interesting listening having been there and done that. We should send them some tapes of our tournaments to see how to do it. On sunday morning i switched off and went back to bed ….terrible

Golfing pet hates
My main pet hate is the talkers cant shut up for 2 seconds to let you play a shot as far as i am concerned when a ball is on the tee no talking crap on all you like walking down the fairway but not near a ball played with this irish guy who just couldnt shut up so i just stood back having some practice swings next thing i heard him say ” this bloke is slow ” i just said i will hit when it is quiet thank you seemed to work gets onto my second pet hate…some golfers have absolutely no idea of etiquite and can be quite painful and this is from a number of clubs that i play at…seems that the various clubs are happy to take a new members cash and just send him out to play before even seeing if he knows what he is doing back in the eighties when i went from one club to another ( my current club ) the secretary went out with me and my brother to play 9 holes mainly to see how we went, doesnt seem to happen anymore

What is a game worth in $$$
Forgive me if this has been discussed before but what do you consider a fair price for a game of golf ? Not your average local club but the higher grade tracks such as the vintage, macquarie links etc The reason i ask is I recieved an email from Twin Creeks offering me a game for $130.00 with nothing else but a cart thrown in I said to my wife good track but not at that price I wouldnt be surprised if they are struggling in a year or two . Cant see the point of having a good course and nobody playing it. If they charged 50-00 for a game I would say they would have a comfortable roll up every day Ive allways said its better to charge 10-00 and fill a stadium then to charge 35-00 and have 5000 people wathcihg a game of footy What does evrybody else think ???

just picked up a mizuno blue rage
I used to have the blue rage driver a 310cc head it was long I also know of about 5-6 other golfers who have either the 310 or 360 cc drivers I play with one guy nearly every week who has one and there are not many that get past him even with more modern drivers the only reason I changed was I could so I did gave it to another lefty who still has it and loves it considering I only paid 40.00 for mine absolutely great deal i believe Nick Faldo used a blue rage when he won his last masters

Driving Range=Course Performance??
It’s one that we are doing for science. We had to do an experiment on something of our choice – they recommended to do something that we are interested in – so i picked this topic. I’ve been going to the range quite a lot of times in the past few weeks, hitting LOTS of balls and measuring it (distance, accuracy (slice, hook, straight etc.) then going to a course, and similarly measuring each shot i take, trying to find any relationship.
I think most golfers at a driving range will hit say a dozen 7 irons and probably hit the last 6 as they would like then they go to another club and do the same so after a while you think you are hitting pretty well “given the crap quality balls you probably have”
what you should be doing in reality is to only hit a club once and put it back in the bag regardless of how ugly or well you hit it , then grab another say a wood or hybrid this will give you the effect of playing at a course taking one shot at a time that is when you will see the ordinary shots and in theory they count like on the course I suggest you try that for your assignment

IS HE WORTH IT ????
Should he be payed/should they pay Tiger to play in the Australian Masters?
I see the positive and negative to this negotiation that is taking place.
What do you guys think of the Australian Tour paying Tiger Woods 3 million dollars as an appearance fee to play in the Masters down there??>
The above quote was on another site personally i would like to see him play at royal melbourne which apparently tiger rates as the best course he has played but to get him down for a game at huntingdale may not work 3m thats a lot of money on top of any prizemoney
Still there are some who loose that at the races on a bad day

unusal occurance
something similar for me a few years back on a par 3 about 130m I hit 1st and put the ball about 30cm from the hole the next guy put it straight in the hole for a hole in one after all the handshakes etc the 3rd guy top his shot about 5m off the tee….walked up to the ball with the same club hit it sweetly into the hole for a birdie 2 i walked up and dropped my putt for the birdie so we had one ace and two birdies on the hole
I dont think i will see that again but nice to be part of it
