Topic: Golf Equipment / Mizuno MP-32 3-PW

Go ahead and buy a set off ebay unseen for the same amount.

I’m referring to RRP of between $1250-$1400 when you can actually inspect the clubs you’re buying. Don’t like….walk away….like them, have them straight away.

Compared to retail….I would call $750 ono a bargain. Wouldn’t u?

If you’ve got no intention of buying these whats the point in passing judgement.

If you’re a genuine buyer….how much would you pay. If you’re not its irrellevent.

Scott,

If I still lived in the area I would seriously consider Pymble @ that price. I’m 34 so although $5k is $5k, I think thats a VERY good deal for a classy club!

As I said before I’m sure that has come down over the years. BTW I used to play a fair bit at Pymble when I was a junior.

Practice wise they also have those spare holes that you can use to sharpen your irons.

I’d jump at it. What have they told you re the wait list there….how long?

Hey Scott,

Are you sure the entrance fee for 31-39 yr olds @ Pymble is $5055 (over 5 years)?

Not doubting you at all but if thats the case that is a great deal! I thought it was around the $10k mark.

Those ratings are very subjective as we all know. Just look at the latest GD Top 100.

Somone who prefers a links layout, may think a parkland or resort layout etc is Mickey Mouse and visa versa.

Without going into the architectual merits of The Oz (I am not qualified in this area) one should play it to experience it. Yes it is manicured and yes it has been changed considerably from how it used to be, but playing it off the plates is an experience.

There aren’t too many top tracks in Sydney anyway where you regularly see it rated 78 on a medal day. Its a tough challenge!

In saying that I would have loved to have had the opportunity to play the old ‘kensington’ layout. I’m told that was a REAL experience!

Monash has hosted an Oz PGA which Greg Norman won.

Pymble has the greater ‘snob’ value.

Monash has a full length driving range with free balls.

Monash is fairly underrated IMO for what it offers and how it presents and is doing deals re subs.

If you draw the ball forget Pymble-Faders paradise.

Monash has a host of ex & current Manly legends as members-if that floast ya boat.

Monash is secluded-good & bad. Basically next to Elanora-quiet, feels like you’re out of the metro area. Pymble does feel a bit cramped in some areas. Pymble is closer to get to from where you are.

All in all 2 pretty good courses. Good Luck

Just my $0.05 cents worth.

Glad you enjoyed your trip - look forward to your thoughts on some of the other courses as well. Personally, I prefer Dornoch and Nth Berwick over those you've mentioned but they're all fantastic courses.

Pity you got the weather you did (but that's to be expected on the W-Coast of Ireland) - other than the 2nd the best holes for mine on the Old are closest to the Ocean. The 8th is a fantastic short P3 and close to my favourite on the course. You didn't happen to go into the graveyard on #1 did you ? wink.gif

I saw both the Old and New/Cahen about 7 years ago now and whilst I thought the Cashen was OK it's greens seemed somewhat small for mine. I presume they've redone them over the years ?

Awesome shots! I look forward to getting over there one day-wife permitting of course

Not a bad track but I'm not sure it will age all that well. It was built during the "we all love lots and lots of mounds" era and it shows. Like Hope Island that was built around the same time there are so many mounds it all looks a bit forced particularly compared to the current trend of minimal earth movement. There is fashion in course design and I'm just not sure that the one in vogue at that time is going to be looked back on fondly.

JJ

Totally agree JJ. It will never become a classic such as a Barnbougle, but for what it offers (ignoring the price) course wise-manicured resort style, playable by all standards, 30-40 mins from the CBD etc. As long as it remains well kept, it will always be a good test of golf.

QUOTE: Virge666 @ May 22 2007, 09:11 AM

Fair call guys and I totally deserve it... but keep in mind one thing. I have played of between 2 and 4 since I was a little over 13. I am absolutley useless during corporate events, because I just do not have the handicap to beat the magic pencils out there.

So on this occasion where I have been involved in a group of people playing off 3, 11,12 and 15 and we shoot the absolute lights out - to be beaten by a group of 4 handicaps off 18 just pisses me off no end.

It is a totally selfish and miserable thing - but all I ask for is one lousy ambrose event. Where someone doesn't come in with a mid 40's score, so that one day I may win the "rub and tug" voucher at the local businessman's lounge.

Is that really too much to ask ?

You've hit the nail on the head Virge666!

There are too many tools out there with 4 handicaps who get gee'd up playing in Corp days off 18. They get their rocks off getting a shot each hole. Happened to us at Mac Links too-Drummond golf day. Thats not golf. Thats why I use those days to network, have a laugh and maybe have a punt with the other blokes in my 4 ball-nothing serious.

Does anyone else love this course?

Haven't played it in about five years, but for a period of about three years, thanks to a corprorate membership, I was there once a month or so, and it's the course I dream of most often.

Best holes:

1st: How's about some risk/reward first up sir? Game to bust a driver down there and have a crack at that green in two? Didn't think so. Love it.

9th: two awesome risk and reward par fives in one loop? No way? Yes Way!

7th: water right, gorgeous geography, great topography, tight driving area.

12th: classic long par three, lotsa water and sand, more generous green than you think from the tee.

17th and 18th: Great way to finish. Memorable par fours that are tough to par. 17th is oob left and water right at the green, 18th is a ballsy drive over shite and bunkers to the gorgeous sight of that home green and the clubhouse beyond.

Pity it's so expensive...

Great course design, awesome condition...many features are still being incoroprated in other 'newer' R.Watson & G.Marsh courses-Kooindah & Twin Creeks.

Watch this space membership wise. The next few years will be interesting re membership structure / cost...debentures mature in I think 2011...

I haven't used a caddie on any of my trips there, but speaking to people who have they're valuable (if you like that sort of thing)

I haven't seen too many obvious 'non golfers' there, but have seen some appallingly slow play from people who do hold club memberships and are regular players, must be a delight to be behind back at their home base

I can only imagine!

We were behind a four ball on the weekend-3 males plus one female. I kid you not, the female was on the cans for most of the way around (I'm serious)-this was at one of the better Private courses in Sydney???

We teed off at approx. 12pm (in carts) and just made it home-it was dark putting on 18.

We spent the back nine picking up her clubs too after she left them around the greens.

It is possible to get behind groups and have an excessively long round there in the mornings. Afternoons shouldn't be too much of a problem. As with most courses, earlier the better, though on my last trip we went off early only to find 4 groups of four had started off at #10 just before we came through the turn, apparently a double booking problem, which then became our problem as the back nine took about 3 hours.

I thought that could be the case. I guess its worth it though to play such a great course. You could always drop an extra ball here and there to pass the time and get 'your money's worth'.

I was a little worried about the 'non golfers' comment though???

Did you use a caddie?

Fields? Pairing? Its not the sort of track that any hacker would rock up to - its far enough out of the way that the people who are playing there have gone there to play at one of the 8 wonders of Australian golf!

I was there in December and the course would have been lucky to have 50 people on it all day for the two days I was there.

To answer your questions, I did not notice if there were any organised comps played there at all. Give the pro a call, they would be happy to advise

Thanks wbennett. I called the bookings no (don't think that was the pro shop) and was told that its basically put your name down, turn up, pay and play-too easy. When asking about being paired up etc I did get the response (strangely) that they do have people who have not played golf before (?), booking, hiring clubs and 'playing' just because it is so special?? (Remember I was speaking to bookings and not the pro shop).

Anyway, I'm thinking about the long weekend in June. I guess I'll book, lob up and if need be try and 'pair' up with some other puneters of similar std if need be. Did you use a caddie?

I'm thinking about going down there from Syd in the next few weeks. Generally speaking, how busy do the weekends get down there. Does the Pro-shop have the foresight to pair golfers of smiliar standard together...or is it a free-for-all?

There'll either be one or two of us and without being a knob, playing a six hour round isn't something I'm too keen on.

Are the fields well managed?

Did you even read my post or are just looking for a way to embarrass yourself?
Well,

That comment would be much more appropriate directed at yourself.

Afterall, that is all it is, a heckle and a pissant attempt at an insult that adds nothing to the thread.
The OP LIED in his ad by calling the bag a LIMITED EDITION MASTERS bag. It is NOT a Limited Edition Masters bag and never will be.

As I have already said but will reiterate for the comprehension impaired, I DON'T CARE WHAT HE SELLS THE BAG FOR, if someone is prepared to pay the asking price (which I never criticized) then good for them. He can put $10,000 on it for all I care.

What I don't like, and I will say it again just for you is that he

LIED

when he called it a Limited Edition Masters bag. Now whether it was intentional or not is not my concern. It was still untrue and he has made no efforts to correct that untruth but tried to deny it.

In reality, the Mods should have removed the ad as soon as it was discovered to be false and misleading and a breach of forum guidelines.

To everyone with half a brain on this thread I would like to say thanks for showing some logic, common sense and support.

Veefore...you are now backtracking matee...stop acting like a peanut and pull your head in!

You obviously have enough time on your hands, so go and contact everyone on e-bay (and the local retail stores for that matter) who have described the same line of bag as I have in a similar fashion(give or take a word here or there).

Ignoring the exact pharse I used, the point bucket head is that my description was a)Understood by everyone including you (everyone is aware of the bag I'm referring too-someone kindly even attachyed replica photo's) cool.gifI have never tried to pass it on as something other than what it actually is and c)No-one has purchased it.

So keep on dreaming, save those pennies and you may...maybe...may even be able to have next years 'Season Opener'...

Do you really think that someone should falsely advertise a product and not be called on it????

I don't care about the price. He can advertise it at $1,000 for all I care and if someone is prepared to pay it great. But if someone buys it thinking that they have bought a MASTERS bag then they are getting ripped off.

Veefore...stop being a TOOL mate...a blunt small one at that!

Go tell every retailer, everyone on e-bay et al that. Get over it. Its a bag that taylor made bought out to signify the 'season opener'-referring to the masters...hence the colours, hence the mention of Georgia State etc.

YOU ARE KIDDING. Crawl back into your little hole.

its a nice bag and would probably fetch more than $250 on aussie ebay and you can ignore the stupid questions there wink.gif

Thanks Moe. Exactly my sentiments.

I thought that was pretty obvious. Its fairly straightforward but true to form a few ISG'ers like to distort the facts and have a whinge . Go tell TM about the 'faux' major bag etc etc. It is what it is. I'm not trying to sell it as a bag used at Augusta. Its a bag that TM released 'honouring' the season opener. Its not that hard you guy's. Geez some of you must be very bored!

QUOTE: Veefore @ May 9 2007, 03:42 PM

To be honest, I thought that they were just a cheap marketing stunt by TaylorMade. Making bags up to sort of look like a special Majors edition but without any actual reference to the major. Makes them look like a collectable without actually being one. Just because they didn't make a lot doesn't make them valuable. It probably just means that they didn't expect that there would be much real demand. Afterall, last time I was in Golf Box they had the full set of them, one for each major.

I hardly doubt that its going to become a true collectable, never said that-its a golf bag at the end of the day. Similar to the Adidas 360 shoes, TM decided to bring out a bag to signify the first major of the year.

I have not seen any other TM 'major' bags previously. I was unaware that they had done this before for retail either. Similar to Callaway in the past, the TM staff players used the masters bag this year.

Whether its $200 or $250 or whatever the cost may be, it is still in-line with other 'normal' stand bags for sale @ retail.

I listed it here because its differrent, its not readily available and I thought an ISG'er may want something differrent.

If its not your go, I've got an old Titty s/bag going cheap too!

Nikey Ho,

Didn't mean to open a can of worms but that is the same bag in Jack's pics that my mate bought at The Drummond store in Casula. Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking bag (probably the best looking stand bag i've seen) and if they hadn't replaced my Burton bag free of charge i would have grabbed it first. He did however get it for $200 which was 20% off the retail price they had on it.

daacha

Its exactly the same as the one in Jack's pics. I'll even through in an unworn Taylormade Masters cap-exact colurs w/ Embrodiery as well etc to match.

I have to agree that $ 250 is a fair price. I'm on e-bay fairly regularly and by the time you purchase one in the states and ship it here, its pretty much on the money anyway (provided you find one).

Daacha, you should of jumped on it @ $200 @ Casula mate. I could of purchased a property a few years back for a lot cheaper than I could today, but didn't. That doesn't mean that I can expect to pay yesterdays price today-especially for something which isn't readily available.

I'm sure if the store had two of them they could of done a better deal for buying both-who knows? The fact is its a limited edition 07 Masters bag-limited run. I don't think my price is steep in anyway, especially when you consider the fact that there are probably none left @ retail.

I'll sort some pictures out tonight-no worries. There was a limited allocation, some stores didn't even get one. Your mate's lucky if he got 20% off. The question is 20% off what??? Everyone knows about the premium prices the retail stores 'ticket' their items...Pictures on the way!
