Topic: 1 iron/ Driving iron

For me it flew a bit higher than a 2 iron, probably similar length, maybe a fraction longer.

If you are keen on this one I am looknig for $100 but open to negotiation.

Got one of these in 18 degrees reg graphite shaft if you are keen.

A true 1 iron will be very hard to find, and don’t see the need for it to be honest.

No disrespect Jr, but for someone with a higher HC, a 1 iron is a stupid club to carry. As Lee Trevino said “Even god himself cant hit a 1 iron”. These may have been all the rage in 1970 when the bear was playing, but nowaways they are dead. Save yourself the embarrassment and get a hybrid. If you want a driving iron, check out mizuno MP driving iron. They are OK, but a good hybrid is a much better option IMHO.

does anybody know of a decent one ive been looking but bare none have come up the ones that have come up are ones that are 20 years old please help. cheers..

JR
I think AB uses one in training – he may be able to give you the heads up on what’s what!

There’s talk of them becoming extinct which sounds feasible – good if you’re in a lightning storm – you can hold them up and feel safe because they reckon even god can’t hit a 1 iron :-)

I had a bottle of Peter lehmann Eight Songs Shiraz 01, a bit pricey at $30 but I was keen to try it. 03’s the current release, and the one I was going to try, but the local 1st choice had some 01’s mixed in so grabbed it instead.

It was a bit sweet up front for me but very good still. Dark red and i’d say full bodied. It was very smooth and had a decent finish on it. If you like them rich try to find one. 03 sounds like a better wine so based on the 01 I think i’ll be picking one up and giveing it a go.

Cool mate – do you like whiskey liqueur?

I found a little shop near the escalators in Chermside SC – they have some fabulous whiskeys in there – I am starting a collection of flavours..lol caramel – licorice – vodka with chocolate and on it goes… I think I’ll take up an apprenticeship as an alcoholic… ask my women what would she like to drink – she say “alcohol”! I’m with her, great stuff…lol

I brew my own port too and that’s a lovely drop if you can get it to pour out of the glass…lol

The Bloke, down your way is “The Man” – grows his own ethanol and flavours it just nice… nice bloke too!

Okies Vicar here is the tabernacle blood that I drank last night – a beautiful drop m8!

from Coonawarra vineyards, the highly celebrated Robertson’s Well. Andrew Hales, the highly regarded winemaker for the brand has developed his notoriety through his production of this fine Cabernet Sauvignons (2005).

Robertson’s Well Shirazes are dry and well balanced showing/tasting rich spice, pepper, dark plum and hints of sweet vanilla oak aromas which titilate the palate.

The Robertson’s Well Cabernet Sauvignons smell of wood smoke, liquorice and sweet vanillin spice, dark chocolate and cherry all melding through on a firm tightly structured palate.

This one we drank was matured for 16 months in American Oak casks – nice drop!

recommended retail $23.95 – picked it up for $16 – don’t know what the cellar time is but the next batch won’t last that long…lol

Played the Fiji Open a few years back at Denarau, great course, in great condition. I played well in it so that helped me enjoy it a little more but as Todd1904 said it gets very very humid and hot, even in a cart you need plenty and i mean plenty as in litres of water if its a hot day…
Great variety of holes and the 18th is one of the best finishing par fives you will see…..

Vic, I am quite happy with the nikes, but when i saw the price of these macgregors i thought they might be worth picking up, because like rebel says at that price i’m sure i could unload them easy enough, plus two of my golf buddies are lefties also. and yeah golf etail have specials quite regularly- i get their emails once a month or so and there are usually great deals to be had, more so if you are right handed!!!

Hi,
I used to have a set of NVG2 mids. I actually had a set in graphite and one set in steel. These clubs are very long, probably the longest i have used but a lot of this is due to the strong lofts. The mids are good because the have less offset. What i will say is when it came to chip and runs etc i didnt like them. They didnt offer the feedback soft feel and touch you get from other clubs. Basically when i was chipping i really had no confidence in these clubs, the balls tends to fly off the face hard when chipping. I do like Macgregor clubs and think they make very high quality gear. I have also used a set of M685 and M675’s and these clubs while not as long give far better feedback and i can chip with these clubs and be confident. The long irons in the nvg2 are easier to hit then in the M685 and M675s. In saying that if you can pick up a cheap set of nvg2 mids then give them a go. You can always unload them. It was a bit of hard thing to be hitting maybe even a club or even a club and half less after I got rid of my Nvg2 mids but its only ego. I’ve realised thats it not about how far you can hit it, its the results. Oh and from my experience the graphite shafted Nvg2’s were easier to hit then the steel ones, especially in the long irons.
Good luck with it
Cheers

GOLF : MY PREFERRED FORM OF GARDENING !!

Great – I should be down there visiting “The Bloke” next month, if he’s not away… maybe we can catch up for a game and then raid his still…

Impaired function caused by drinking alcohol could be restored by oxygen inhalation. In other words, oxygen can reverse the effects of alcohol on the body.

I recall as a junior firefighter in Melbourne in the 60’s, coming to work the next morning after a night of tying one on – first place of visit was the Breathing Apparatus room that contained the oxygen cylinders – get in line junior….lol

Is that a “grunt” affirmative or a “pusser” affirmative?

Good, we must catch up and drink some wine after a game….

FYI

A 2007 study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study found that Australians drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a year.

That means, on average, Australians get about 41 miles per gallon.’

Bloody good value that!

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I go for the higher octane myself……RED RED WINE!

Lovely Jubbly!!

Denarau is a great course – Played there a handful of times – reasonably priced as well. Staff are very helpful and the course isn’t too busy.

Tee off early – first group if you can – avoid the people and the heat. Good to get a cart without a windscreen as well – keeps you nice and cool!! There is an abundance of green staff keeping the course tidy and selling you cheap Pro V1’s on the side…...

The course itself is good for all handicap levels – it has a few longish (150m) water carrys on driving holes and has water on majority of the other holes – including some nice water carry Par 3’s. Fairways are generous – but there is some tough bunkering to worry the longer hitters – greens are fast, true and a real test.

The course was always in immaculate condition when I was there and a real treat to play – very highly recommended.
