As for guiding you around, you made me laugh (yet again) when you pulled out your course notes and took your first look at them …......... after we’d already played 10 holes!!

Yeah, what was that about… maybe I was dazzled with Oz’s ISG Rangefinder on the bag, as well as your 12 DMDs, all of which were fantastically accurate.

Looking back on my notes, it was quite similar to your assessment of the course. Interestingly the scores did pick up once I started looking at it. Oh, and I forgot to pat you on the back about Bob the Red. Any coincidence that I was struggling until I put him in play thanks to your generosity…? Must email the man now…

Just like those “snakes” that didn’t appear out of “someones” golf bag until we’d already played 15 holes hey?? The things we put in our golf bags and just forget about ……..

You just can’t find an honest cop anywhere can you. “Honestly, I forgot they were there…” Yeah right…

We’ll have to work something out for a “cheat’s round” as they say, at the OOM Rnd 2 venue, prior to the big event.

Mate, drop me a line at smergen AT hotmail DOT com and I’ll keep you posted there as to what I can come up with…

Ahhh Micky sorry for snapping at you but I told you 20 times that was my ball…..

How did you iron fare after a brush with the tree?

I’m surprised it took till the last hole, I think we were both at our wits end by then, struggling to get to 30pts.

All is good mate, you are still welcome to invite me to Eastern or Settlers anytime :-)

My wedge luckily survived, very poor form, Mr Hogan would not approve _

I think OB’s PC is on the blink at the moment, Bucks. So it might be later in the week – and he has all the cards!

GPJ: ISG Royalty. He went all Johnny Cash on me, so much so I nearly didn’t recognise him in the carpark. Quite possibly the smoothest swing in ISG. Doesn’t miss a beat and the driver is something to behold. Ability to find the green was impressive and if a few middle range putts dropped you’d have been at the pointy end of the field. Big thanks for the cart bag also mate, it will be nice to retire the Lind Bag that was looking fairly worse for wear as I dragged it’s busted guts all over WV. Also, for your continual yardage information and taking the time to guide us three lost souls around the course. It was an absolute pleasure and I hope I can convince you one day to venture out over the bridge to the Badlands for a hit. And thanks for not breaking into Maggie May… that was appreciated.

Top day guys.

Smergs, no trouble at all re the bag, buddy…....., glad to see it going to a good home … & I hope you get out to use it often amid your growing tribe and responsibilities.

It was great to finally play an OOM round with you.

Will tee it up with you anytime buddy, had a great time alongside “you and yours”, and yes I believe you now that there is a golfing life to be had across the bridge.

We can only hope it doesn’t make it onto the site.

Anyone predicting the death of the internet if it does?

Feel free to guys, but I spread my shots out over a number of bunkers along the length of the hole.

Ironically, the best one was the one off the thinnest crappiest lie…

HotFuzz was on about every prize marker we passed! The NTP on the 17th must have been some shot!! Took some heavy corner cutting to put one passed him on the 8th. Sounds like he might have had me covered on the 16th too.. put one to a similar spot, but it was my provisional…

The 17th was a ripper indeed. Ripped the 5i.

We didn’t quite believe he cleared the creek on 16 until we got to his ball. I suspect perhaps a nice kick off a sprinkler head… In all truth he’s put them that far down on other courses so he does have precedence…

Top shot on 8 though mate. I prefer not to remember that hole… 5 shots in 3 bunkers… yowch.

smergs. please mention the little wager you lost.. nice bold black&white letters :)

I would like to formally annouce that I lost the bet to P&B at Waterford Valley as he outscored me 37pts to 35pts. I will therefore don a Collingwood cap for the Hidden Valley round.

I however didn’t buckle under pressure on the first and spray my drive, nor did I crack the sooks after 3 putting on the 18th… :)

Good enough?

Well, what can I say? What a day…

Biggest plaudits as I’ll echo on here go to the Committee for their tireless and incomparable attention to detail and skills at putting together such a brilliant day. I especially loved how they provided us with fantastic almost perfect golfing conditions. Can we expect such benign conditions at Hidden Valley and the rest of the OOM schedule? Let’s hope so.

The course was brilliant, and fair. It rewarded great attacking play, but made you pay if you didn’t execute properly or bit off more than you can chew. I think that was reflected in some of the scores as well…

Now onto my playing group

Tippy: the arch-nemesis… picks up the clubs once every blue moon and continues to hit approach shots and putts like I could only dream, despite my playing at least 5000 times more golf than him. I was very lucky to get a one shot win here, but always the utmost pleasure walking the track with him. But seriously dude… the socks. WTF?

HotFuzz: The rust continues to fall from one of the most impressive golf swings I know. Flabbergasted Ari I think went past his LD for B grade (great shot mate) but he exacted some sweet revenge by passing GPJ’s long drive mark on the 16th by a solid 30m or so. Measured it at a solid 295m last night on nearmap. NTP and birdie on 17 for B grade as well showed his class. Touch around the green with the Cro-Magnon man’s putter was impressive also. If he gets to more OOMs and remains in B-grade, one to watch…

So onto Hidden Valley. Roll on. Got 5 more points than I hoped for out of WV, but then the scores were probably that amount higher than I expected for the group. So all in all, I’ve probably not gained much.

Top day guys.

Couldnt ask for a better start to the ISG OOM season.

Well done to the commitee for their super organisation skills on a successful day. Its safe to say everyone is looking forward to the next OOM outing.

Personally, I had a great day with the distinguished company of Bernie_Larkham, wasabipea and sarg. Was in awe how hard bernie can pummel the white pill down the fairway. Thanks to wasabi and bernie for guiding both sarg and myself around WV.
