Topic: Single figures in my sight The rotation of both feet and legs from right to left against the resistance of the ground will rotate the spine and the shoulders from left to right. The rotation of the forearms from right to left will throw the clubhead upwards together with the hands and arms as well as providing a counter balance which keeps everything centred. The rotation of the right foot and leg should be intense during the latter stages of the backswing and capable of holding the shoulder turn at the top. The rotation of the left foot and leg towards the target which is a downwards diagonal push into the ball of the left foot assists in rotating the trunk, and provides the stability to stand in balance. |

Topic: Single figures in my sight Although I have only posted once or twice, I always call in here and have a read Weet … and a great read it is … congrats on keeping it going for so long Your handicap for the 4 rounds will actually fluctuate. The champs are so spread out this year that we figured that they had to float. Sort of just trying something different in that respect. Not sure if its a good idea or not. Time will tell. Cheers |

Topic: Single figures in my sight Bix Anyway I am posting this because you seem to have the wrong concept about the pivot. Best advice I can give you is not to try and perform a pivot. A pivot in the golf swing is a twisting of the lower body (feet and legs) towards the target and the twist of the body from the pelvis to the neck in the opposite direction away from the target. If you follow Foster’s advice at address to kick the right knee in towards the ball and sit back against the right hip, then you are in a perfect position. The first move in the takeaway (following what forward press is employed to start it off) is to shift the point of pressure in the feet to the inside of the right foot. This will react on the hands and arms by moving the arm assembly across the body until the hands pass the right leg. By that point the weight should have moved to the inside of the right foot and the right leg and hip locked in place in their address position. The pivot doesn’t begin until the arms start to lift and the shoulders start to turn. The arms and club go up and around until the left shoulder stops. The right hip will twist through the right thigh muscle movement. This thigh movement can be retarded through the outward movement of the right hammy. There should be no voluntary effort to turn the hips. The weight shift is a lateral shift parallel to the plane line. Once the left shoulder stops there will be no further movement by the arms around the body. If there is any movement by the arms at this point it will be in an upwards direction. |

Not too bad mate, at least you are still in the hunt. Worst thing is to shoot an absolute horror first round to destroy any chance of winning. How many rounds is the tournament? |

Topic: Single figures in my sight My swing plane is well established since getting a DreamSwing training tool. I did not realise how often I used to get into the ‘flat plane’ fault during practise sessions. A DreamSwing is so simple yet effective and after that first week of getting used to the guiding effects of the tool on the club I started hitting balls with it and have not looked back since. DreamSwing practise day 8 31st jan 2013 It is literally learning by repetition. There is no way to deviate from the correct swing plane as the club is attached to the tool and keeps your swing correct every time. LoL this is not a sales pitch mate just the fact of my experience since January. Full disclosure though is that I contacted the inventor of the training tool and do have the exclusive rights to imports in Oz. Only problem has been settling into the changes and actually realising that I can do the correct shot every time. Have to just slow down and set up correctly and all is sweet. So far on the tee has been a huge success the second shots are my failing. It is a mental fault and I am sure it will come together eventually. At the minute my approach is to relax and take the game with a far more casual approach after being intense in practise for so long. |

Topic: Single figures in my sight I have two goals when it comes to my golf practice. One is to learn the improvements I am working on. The second is to find the swing approach – the physical swing “feel” Great goal to succeed with mate. It is so important not to get out and practice without thinking about what you are doing it for. |

6 over I didn’t well I never knew . In my mind I’m not a chopper lol… I just hit a wall, yesterday we went to my olds that’s two hours in the car then down to the g.c is another hour and a bit. The lancer doesn’t really have great seats for lots of long drives, if I’m to play gold after I get a little stiff. Next week is another week. Wantima will cop my full force… |

Bix we didn’t get to chat today, never mind. Best advice I can give you is to practice hitting chips and pitches with the strap drill and the counter-clockwise takeaway which forces the right elbow down. There has to be a feeling of power being built into the right wrist and forearm for it to be correct. The right elbow will be trapped by the belt on or near the front right hip where it has to be coming into impact to retain clubhead lag. You will also find that the shoulders need to turn more than we think to maintain the right elbow in a down position. |

Topic: Single figures in my sight Weety try a half swing for your 65 and 85 m shots instead of what I presume are full shots. So instead of lob maybe 9 iron for 65 and 7 iron for 85. Just seems that your common disappointed shot was this one. Easy to try at range and easier to control. |

Topic: Single figures in my sight I set myself a personal goal of 18 before the trip but I honestly thought it would be a pipe dream. I’m planing a practice round as I’m not taking this rapid drop for granted and I don’t wont to undo all the hard work. |

Topic: Single figures in my sight Hey Weety. I may be reshuffling my dates to go to Maryborough which means it wouldn’t clash with the isg nationals. I noticed Coolumn is halfway between you and Node. Maybe we could organise a ‘meet you halfway’ round together? |
