Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test

Hi Harty,

I should have had the balls here by now but it has been such
a slog to get the retailers to trust our balls sales potential.

Everyday I am getting a new proshop asking about the UV
because players ( mainly women ) are asking for them but
as everyone here knows most men don’t really trust the UV colour
or coloured balls in general and are prepared to wait to see if it is
practical for someone else before having a go.

I mean look at the ad for Precept XP3 Mustard Yellow and
Fanta Orange balls that are on sale through Leading Edge
proshops , $12 a dozen retail and they play ok just like a Laddie.

Interesting days for sure in the golf industry.

Cheers,
Boz.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Balls?

Hi Andre,

The Fantom balls are there to fill my $20 to $30 value area.
Lind Golf and Squizzy’s have them on a test program at very
good prices.

Amart should have them at $25 to $29.95.

They have been on sale in proshops for $3 to $4 a ball.

The HiSoft is probably the one you might be interested in the most.

Thanks for asking,
Boz.

Hi Styles, Good news I was hoping the new formulation would
be better, more work to go though.

Hi Bogey, Thanks for the note, the current testing has our balls
being ranked amongst the lowest side spin on mishits out of all
balls on slae today. Still if they want to go bush it is hard to stop
them.

Hi Pom and Chuck, that is some serious scrub at The Cut,
good for sales though plus new idea Chuck, I need more “Beware
of the Snakes” signs to help keep sales ticking over. :-)

Cheers,
Boz.

Hey Sarg,

Now that sucks, how am I supposed to market the UV’s as
easier to find when you are losing that many! :-)

Lets see if you can aim to get it down to one per round
on average, that should help your overall score.

How many went swimming? The reason I ask is that I am
interested in making a version that floats. 70 Compression
with a similar feel and distance to the HiSoft Fantom ball.

Cheers,
Boz.

Hey Chuck,

Mike had emergency surgery on a brocken back late last
week. There was a note to say they were going to be delivered
Stateside at the end of November.

Rebel,

I am a single E width and this is also known as a W in
the Footjoy range.

They should have a variety of models in OZ, look on their
Australian website for a guide.

I wish I could,,,,,, :-(

Actually I now don’t mind putting it back a little, as the guys in
Queensland have come up with a new way for me to blend the
cover and get what would be a more Tour like feel ( in theory.)

I will let you know as soon as I can and you can try some on me.

Sorry for now,
Boz.

Brookvale are doing the same, it’s hard to get all their stores
to understand what we offer so unfortunately some stores
will quit them and not restock. Just a fact of life. Bargain buy
from where I sit though.

Cant be too cheap and nasty Publish or it devalues the brand.

The current caps I have are very nice without going overboard,
ask around I don’t like to cut corners as it is all too important
to the belief in a brand and it’s associated products.

Boz.

I am looking to do a bucket hat as a bonus promo next year,
instead of a cap.

The problem is sizes as Publish said the one size fits all
is still limited to a few players. I have seen a good one from
Imperial but its a bit expensive for a promo item.

Hi Sid,

Yes I saw the site was still up but not sure where they are up to.

I have not found one of the Hex balls, I was going to pull the thread
back up to ask around.

The Seniors and Ladies Tours is where I would go for, Tour
validation but I can’t really see me worrying about it as I can’t
see the true value in that style of marketing any more.

Hi Franky,

What’s with the new avatar??? :-) I’m glad you got them
to really work as most greens will let them grab but as everyone
will agree if it gets dry again we all end up playiing on table tops
which are always hard to hold.

Cheers,
Boz.

Hi Franky,

There was a start up factory in Mudgee-NSW making balls under
the Ignis name but it seems to have gone quiet.

They were building two 2 piece designs, plus a range ball that
floated ( air cell in the core ).

Boz.

Hi TBM,

Post number 1000, send me an email with your postal address
to my info address on the Vision golf ball website and I will send
you some test pilot gear!

Just to clarify the position of manufacture etc as I don’t want to
mislead anyone.

Vision is my families brand with it’s concepts//ideas and designs being Australian.

We make some of our packaging and promotional items in Australia.

I am now working with the Queensland University on new
cover /core materials that will use nanotechnology in a true
sense, to improve our balls performance/feel and durability.

The Vision balls production and R&D effort is done in partnership
with my close friends at the leading Korean golf ball manufacturer, Fantom DGS Golf Company.

Cheers,
Boz.

Hi Publish,

I understand your sentiments and thanks for relaying your
experience, as it is pretty much on the money as far as
sport retail goes.

I know I need to do the selling and the packaging has to be
interesting to draw a customer to it, for no one else will be
there to suggest them.

Yes I have been supplying some small clubs to share
the experience.

Drop me a line and I will look after you.

Hi Franky,

It’s hard to help those that struggle to help themselves.

Cheers,
Boz.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cleveland ZIP Grooves

Here is the USGA explanation,

The revisions, which involve the cross sectional area of grooves on all clubs, with the exception of drivers and putters, and limit groove edge sharpness on clubs with lofts equal to or greater than 25 degrees (generally a standard 5-iron and above), are designed to restore the challenge of playing shots to the green from the rough by reducing backspin on those shots. The initial focus of the rules will be competitions involving professional golfers, starting in 2010.

Bottom line, less sharp edged U grooves that are not as deep.

Cheers,
Boz.
