Hi again Boz

false alarm, the UVs flew dead straight today off the driver (well, one big slice but that was definately me)

i still think they roll further than other balls ive hit

and my mind rebelled less at the look and feel of them as well

im a convert, again shot 6 or 7 under hanidcap today. will eagerly await the UV X3

cheers

Topic: Vision Golf Ball Test

Hi Boz,

I’ve now tried the UV, the Xpert, The Arctic White, the Fantom, Hi-soft and the Fantom Lady.

The UV was pretty certainly the longest of them, but felt a little dead. The Arctic White had a nice soft lively feel for me but not quite the distance of the UV. Nothing stood out about the others for me. Conditions differed somewhat so it’s all a bit subjective I guess.

Is that what you’d expect and would you agree with that eval?

Does the ball exist that gives the softish feel, but still gets that little extra distance, or is that asking too much?

BTW, thanks for your advice on that other matter we discussed, it’s all worked out very well for both of us. We should see the results on his website and in mags pretty soon.

Thanks for the quick response. Xpert it is. Sleeve of 3 methinks – MM on Saturday and I KNOW it wasn’t the ball the created the blow out last month! Cheers.

Topic: Vision Golf Ball Test

Greetings fellow fanatics. Wow 38 pages of post on this subject! I am reasonably new to iseekgolf forums and I assume my question is already answered – somewhere – if so, grateful for the link and I’ll read it for myself.
The BozBalls are getting positive remarks all through thus I would like to compare with my current pellets. I use the Callaway HXTour (not the 56 or iTour) and I play off 11. Typical drive around 240m with gentle left to right. 7 iron is normally 145m. The HXTour stops pretty quickly for me on full swings but obviously I don’t get enough club head speed to get some action on less than 3/4 swings – If I do it is out-of-the-ordinary.
Which BozBall would be comparable for/suited to my game?
I understand I can get them at Rebel sports – yes?
Cheers, and thanks.

will keep you updated

i agree they dont play like rocks. really it is a ball that challenges pre-conceptions of what a golf ball should be, when i didnt even know i had any

but it works, which is great

Topic: Vision Golf Ball Test

Hi Boz,

just had my first round with the UVs, thought id let you know

im sure some of this is already in the thread (which i have read but cant remember), so sorry if its a double up

and bear in mind i wasnt connecting cleanly today

Pros –
-easy visibility (obviously)
-didnt scuff up bad, even after hitting several trees very hard
-stopped quicker than i expected
-similar distance, but a little more roll than other balls ive used (ie e6+)

Cons (personal opinion) -
-the feel in the hand. off the club it felt fine, but in the hand the thing is a rock. a lot of the higher priced balls feel softer in the hand, almost leathery. how hard it felt didnt promote confidence for me
-honestly the look will take some getting used to. standing over it with a wedge, it looks like a pingpong ball. not being able to see the dimples is a weird change
-appeared to have slightly higher sidespin off the driver than most mid quality balls ive used. could be a result of my swing today as well, the big stick wasnt behaving very well
-my texta wouldnt mark it! took many coats to draw my insignia, it was like it repelled ink

and no crow attacks on my course

overall, i will keep using it. got 12, and i havent lost a ball in probably 6 rounds, so i expect to get a lot of play out of them. will report back if my views change (especially about driver sidespin)

cheers
luke

Maybe I should look to bump the price up on the new balls
to make the right impression,,,,, only kidding as I need to be
the TRUE value for money performance balls.

Pleeeease Don,t do that. $8 a ball is just too much to pay for a ball that might be lost in 2 holes time.
Thanks for the info. The Nike ball to me seemed similar to the vision ball I tested. As I said I like the Nike ball ,. Don,t particularly like thier business ethics. & would much rather use a comparable australian product.

Hi Boz. Lookimg for an opinion on a golf ball. played in a comp today apparently sponsored by Nike. On check in for the addittional cost of $1 we were given a Nike ball to try out. I was asked what type of ball I normally liked to use & I said Bridgestone tour 330. I was given a Nike black. I played 18 holes with it & was suitably impressed. It did everything I would expect of a top quality ball. Unfortunately the one drawback is again the price. $80 odd per dozen. How does this ball in your opinion compare to the new x3 .Just curious what you think & if it confirms my ideas about the ball.

I first bought these balls to try them out after reading up on them when I first found these forums. All the positive comments made me think the’d be worth a try. And, never being shy about standing out from the crowd, I was keen to try the radioactive UV’s. Very good balls and a very fair price equaled a new customer in me. However Boz, your honesty, integrity and commitment to both your product and (us) your customers is what has made me a loyal customer for as long as these balls exist. Here endeth the brown nosing ;)

With all sincerity, Thank You.

My wife keeps looking under the sheets at my glowing balls!

Hi Boz, you probably don’t get through all the forums so I thought I would just post the below;

Boz, you and those like you are a part of what makes this country as good as it is. You have a desire to help the golfing community in producing good quality, high end but fair priced golf balls.

You are always available on the site for comment and advice, often espousing the values of other balls to the detriment (probably the wrong word but it seems to fit) of your own product. You simply want to help those that love this game as much as yourself.

You did not have to be approached to sponsor these events, you offered. I have, as I am sure many others on this site, have purchased the Fantom & Vision balls not just because they are at good market price, but because in my/our small way we want to help you get to what you want. Plus they’re a bloody good ball. Thank you for your valued support and I wish you well in your future endeavours. The Russell fan club is alive, growing and will conquer.

Oops, don’t know what happened to the block quote, but anyway…

An extract from my podium speech for the final phase of the 2008 ISG Tipping Comp. Just wanted you to know how I and I’m sure many others on this site appreciate the support you offer to all.

Dave.

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish…..

Hear hear!

well done boz, great balls.
me and a mate tried out the uv balls today with great success
they were very, very long
could see them from a mile away
and held up very well
we have both decided we are switching balls
not quite as good touch around the green but predictable
release and roll
keep up the great work

Ever looked into the thermal qualities of ball materials Boz for the sake of distance? Cold weather balls which insulate from cold weather better, warm weather balls which warm more efficiently in warm weather.

i think a drwastring would be a lot more expensive to produce.

i would prefer the 3 pack rather than each ball individually in a carton.

I would be happy with a material bag that has a draw string at the top that holds 12 balls

There’s an idea!

Nothing wrong with a simple draw-string pouch.

I have not thought this through fully .. how about a round box (ok not cheapest way to go) and inside there is spiral partition.. one ball wide with 12 balls in a line spiralling into cenre.. on the top, and on outer edge, there is a flap that allows one ball out at a time ..different .. not sure if practical .. I would be happy with a material bag that has a draw string at the top that holds 12 balls

OFF TOPIC: what do you think of the iPhone GN?

I love it! The only thing I find annoying about it is all the finger marks that get left all over the screen. They make my Vision Golf ball look all funky! :~/ I have to clean the screen to clean my balls, just like out on the course I guess.

On the topic of packaging, I thought of something akin to a wine rack sitting in a 12 ball box vertically. That way, each ball is seperated but not “lidded” (he says searching for the right terminology). I think this would cut down on the packaging required and also maintain some semblance of presentation. A nice balance between two “X”tremes if you will.
