you don't repay noms

carefull of this - i got caught out at southport gc, if you were a junior, noms were only $400 odd bucks and subs of $500 or similar (subs changed with age) When changing from junior to full member, they don't put you on the waiting list like new member applicants, but they still charge you the $3k nom. Hence i didn't take up there offer!!

QUOTE: Fastone @ May 17 2007, 11:02 AM

I am up at the Gold Coast to see the mighty Roos play on Sat night, and a mate has arranged a game at Gainsborough.

I have searched through the threads and I'm looking for current comments regarding the course.

Thanks

Played it 2 weeks ago mate, in good condition and a decent track, you should enjoy it. Dont pick a fight with the kangaroos though.

scott design is only a recent developement, but he has been in course architecture for many years now. Adams achievements has only helped his ability to market and hence forming scott design.

I'd imagine he has the creds as much as anyone...

all the best to him.

QUOTE: racinfarmer @ Mar 8 2007, 08:55 AM

And KPac, get a nice winter suit on and drive around with your heat blasting on high for 4-6 hours, then tell me what you think about endurance racers.

Hey back off dipstick. The ONLY reason i posted is because some knob wrote:
"The top racing drivers would be among the fittest and most co-ordinated athletes in the world. 99.99% of people wouldn't be able to get an F1 car out of the garage let alone race it at the speeds these guys do."
And unfortunatelly for you it is comments like these from the all too common 'dead-beat' car enthusist which give the 'sport' a bad name. I like car racing (ok i dont like car racing in all forms, but i follow F1 closely) it may or may not be a 'sport' i dont care, what it definatelly is is entertainment! The downfall is the greater community that are enthusiastic about car racing. As much as i would prefer not to stereotype i'm afraid that the fans who are the most vocal, are the exact ones you'd prefer were not associated with the sport.
If you have the answer to fix this, the reputation of car racing would be greatly enhanced.

QUOTE: racinfarmer @ Mar 8 2007, 08:55 AM

There is only one other sport that provides the rush motorsports do - downhill skiing. Pretty much any sport that involves a ball is rather boring and provides no rush.

That's the sort of deadshit comments that are linked oh so closely with car racing!

QUOTE: racinfarmer @ Mar 8 2007, 08:55 AM

Plus, racers ALWAYS know they may make the ultimate sacrafice doing the SPORT they love. You can't say that about any other major sport.

Horse racing casualties are not good either mate! there is no 'crumple zone' or 'driver capsules' on the ack of horses. However that matters little. If these car racers, race for the pure rush of think they could die, then i'm afraid they are a bottle short of a six pack. Regardless of any risk the REASON one plays sport is for love of the game. If it is for the rush, nic off and go base jumping.

QUOTE: racinfarmer @ Mar 8 2007, 08:55 AM

Its funny, you people think HORSE #$%^ING RACING is a SPORT.

You show me why car racing is any more of a sport than Horse racing and i'll listen to you. Untill then...

Give it a rest. The athlete means nothing in motor racing. Teams that win are the teams with all the money (which generally directly correlates to fastest car) when was the last time some budget team with a 'good athlete' dirver won an F1 race. What a load of sht!!

The only reason the Super Bowl is so popular is because the fans are a bunch of has been high school jocks who are trying to relive their high school days and think "I should be playing here."

you could say worse about some ofthe drop kicks that rock up at the cars!!
I'd personally be thinking super bowl as the US no 1 event. but it's subjective in the end.

I'm sure you had a good time, Noosa springs i found very enjoyable for a social round, looks nice and enough decent holes to keep you honest. If you did it again a day trip to Brookwater would have been my only suggestion. Nice part of the country is the sunny coast.

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Playing down the wrong fairway

QUOTE: puttputt @ Feb 22 2007, 09:39 AM

Yeah, can't see any advantage in going out onto 10 when playing 18 at Colonial. Makes the hole longer and a much harder approach shot.

Agree with you on 17 at southport. Do you mean 16 at GGCC and not 17? As I think 17 is the par 3?

DAVE

Yeah you got me there, got carried away with the number 17. it is 16 at GCCC if you play slightly left over the tree line, not only do you get a lot closer approach, but no water, only catch is you have to pitch over a little mound, but far and away the better way to play. If you played the hole as it lies, you 1 have to play your tee shot short of the water leaving 8ish? iron in (depending on tees) and you have to play it with water all the way to the hole on the right. its a hookers paradise that hole.

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Playing down the wrong fairway

QUOTE: Reactor @ Feb 21 2007, 09:22 AM

Im a member at The Colonial on the Gold Coast and I have the very same situation. Theres a dogleg on the 18th that resides next to the 10th. I always cut onto the middle of the 10th because it saves alot of distance but it also is alot safer because there is water on the other side of the 18th.

What are you doing out on the 10th mate??? going to be a lot tougher from out there behind trees to get at the green! 18th is easily gettable with a straight tee shot i would have thought. Two obvious ones for me are the 17th at Southport and the 17th at Gold Coast Country Club.

17th at southport: if you play down the fairway on the left you avoid a corner and about 50m but are left with a small water carry, but definately the only way to have either a crack at the green for two.

17th at Gold Coast Country Club: Again play down the left and you take out a corner and no water. much easier approach.

One of the reasons these two stand out is that when there is a decent comp at either of the courses, these are the lines the majority take.
