unfortunately in the world of golf equipment, your d2 is a dinosaur. There are newer equipment around, and for $500 I think people would rather buy a tour burner tp with a whiteboard or matrix shaft. I sold my D2 not long ago for around $250, and after looking at the market value, that is how much they go for right now.

your getting the message. Getting fit and aftermarket shafts are overrated. Its just another ‘business’ to suck in unsuspecting golfers. I play with many low markers who dont know what a lie board is and some use oem shafts.

Alot of tech goes into shaft technology, not that it matters to the average golfer. Any shaft from the top manufacturers will do just fine

very true. I am an average golfer and dont find the expensive shafts to perform any better then your average $80-$100 shafts. I have exotic shafts from diamanas to matrix altus, to the normal aldilas, v2’s etc

PS, I would never cough up and buy new shafts, just pulls or in 2nd hand clubs

Obviously you are not someone that it is going to effect. That’s great some of us at the other end of the scale where a tweak here and there makes the world of difference.

Yes mate, I have attended numerous Australian opens and pga championships and I SAW a Ping TFC shaft on a Ping G5 driver, and the original nike fujikura shaft on a Nike Ignite driver used by the leader of some ladies event here a couple of years ago.

..never played comp but unless you are a playing professional, then surely you are playing the game for enjoyment. If not, get over yourself. I would be interested to see what the playing partners of John Daly think… or some of the legends of the game who play majors and don’t finish a round.

You stick at a day job when working with clowns because it puts food on the table, but sticking out your weekend game, whilst playing with a group of guys with no respect for the game??... I don’t think so. I would’ve done the same Gribbles.. well handled in my book. I’m sure the three guys enjoyed the rest of their round and the scene was not dragged before the committee.. I can understand not wanting this after working all week in a demanding job.

..just a question, from what I have read some clubs are more strict in these matters than others (rules & etiquette). Is it location or the prestige of the club that determines this???

No the rule book determines this, I may seem a little hard arsed but the way i see golf you have an obligation to do what is right by not only those in your group but 30 or 40 other people in the competition that cannot witness the breach of the rules.
In a practice round I allow anything even mulligans but in comp those other people can depend on me.
