Topic: The Lounge / Can of Worms. ..... Quality of Life Very sorry to hear the news Peg, but good the hear it was peaceful and there is closure of a sad time. Celebrate your dad’s life, there is plenty to celebrate and remember. I sure my wife will be greatly saddened, she respected your father a lot. Our thoughts are with you. Best wishes to your family. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Handicap adjustment? You can apply, but you would normally only get a hearing if there were serious medical reasons or extenuating circumstances. You need to apply to your club handicapper, not Golflink. Refer the link below and in particular section 8; |

Topic: Golf Instruction / Leaking distance with short irons- HELP I don’t think most of Choppers put any serious compression on the ball at the best of times. My vote would be that you/we add loft and hit it very high and short, because we flip it through impact.i.e. hands behind impact rather than leading through impact. |

Topic: Golf Instruction / Bradley Hughes Golf Talk- The story I read was that he made an offhand derogatory comment about one of the player’s wives and she heard it. The groundswell to roll him apparently built from that. |

Plus they park in the bike lanes with half their car blocking the left lane as well. Just asking for this to happen! ;) |

Not yet, but stay tuned. Not happy with the shafts in them. I am probably going to do a reshaft and see how they go first. |

Topic: The Lounge / some people just have no idea I have seen that happen a few times now, can also happen with Buses. Best one was the entire front end of a Volvo Wagon being ripped off by a Semi when it (The Volvo) tried to duck through the empty space in the left lane everyone else had left next to the Truck. Funny as to watch it unfold! |

Topic: The Lounge / WE should Tax gambling - punter pays on each bet!
Wrong, wrong, wrong, as usual you haven’t researched your facts, just knee jerked another solution. There are various taxes on gambling businesses, on top of Federal Income Tax. Turnover Taxes, Player Losses Taxes, Net Profit Taxes and License Fees for starters. The State governments are addicted to their slice of the gambling pie, and there lies a major part of the problem. NSW alone takes over $1.6bn pa in gambling taxes before the Operators pay any Income Tax. I am not against further taxes on gambling, but I am not sure it is the solution you think it is. Because it will simply perpetuate the various governments already well established addiction to gambling taxes, and their hesitance to do anything about problem gambling. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Repainting/retouching numbers on irons An alternative to Acetone are the Non Acetone Nail Polish Removers. Cheap as chips as well, and you can buy it at your local supermarket too. I use Cotton balls wetted with the above to do the clean up. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Is this a flaw in the handicapping system?
As Raz has said, the problem is not the system. It is the way your scores have been entered incorrectly into Golflink by the Queanbeyan club. Showing as Par 70, rating 72, yet they are entering your scores as if the rating is only is 70. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Radar clubhead speed monitors
OK, one of these; http://www.sportssensors.co... I have one with the Tempo Timer option. I bought mine 2nd hand, so not sure if they are available new here. I haven’t seen them in any store here in my travels. Another option is a Zelocity Pure Contact; http://www.zelocity.com/gol... About twice the price, but gives you Swing speed plus estimated distance (carry or total as selected). Also, as others have posted, the Swingbyte, plus similar devices like the 3Bay Swing Analyser will give you a swing speed reading that is reasonably accurate, along with a lot of other swing data and graphics. So they might be a better value buy, depending what you are after. Both are around the $200 mark. |
