Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz Boz, Sorry about the delay in writing a review but with 4 weeks betweens rounds at the moment it has been hard to test all of them. I will not go into as much detail as other people have because I am not that good of golfer but here goes. I have played three rounds using the 3 different types of Fantoms. The ball I was most impressed with was the Hi-Soft. The feel off the club was good from tee to green. It felt that I got about the same distance off the tee as my usual ball, Nike Mojo. The feel off my irons was good and chipping was excellent, able to pull the ball up a lot quicker then the Mojos. Putting was good, better feel then the Pro Distance and Power Control. To me, and this is just my opinion, the other 2 balls did not feel quite right, do not know what it was but I just did not like them. While I don’t have any real complaints about them I will be buying the Hi Soft next time I need some more balls. Overall I would recommend the Hi Soft to anyone who uses something like the Mojo or Laddie type ball. In comparison to the Mojos I could not find any difference and as I said before when I run out of Mojos I will be looking at buying the Fantom Hi Soft. Thanks for the chance to test the balls and the cap has received many comments. Look forward to buying an Australian product that works well. Keep up the good work. |

Topic: Golf Talk / RECIPROCAL CLUBS Hi, I am a member of Queanbeyan and the list of our reciprocal clubs is in the member only area, weird is it not. There are about 60 clubs listed, the majority in NSW. Yet to use any of the reciprocal rights so not sure how much they exist but supposedly full member rights. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz Boz, I live in Canberra and on the local news on WIN they had a story about Bill Banks, a local player who is going well in the Australian Senior Competition. He was wearing a Fantom hat, with Vision on the side, so I take it you sponsor him. Good visibility in Canberra if you do because a lot of people here watch the local news. Just thought I would let you know. Scott |

Topic: Golf Talk / Pre-Shot Routine........ Depending on what has happened on my previous shot my pre-shot routine changes. If I have hit a bad shot I will go and find my ball and then have a drink of water to try an remove any negative thoughts I have. Then I will start my pre-shot routine. Pre-shot routine involves working out what sort of shot I need to play. Getting the club out of the bag. Visualizing the shot while I take some half practice swings. Take my stance and swing. I find that when I do this I tend to play better. When I don’t I tend to make the mistakes that kept my handicap at 25. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Help - graphite or steel? I used to play a regular graphite shaft in my irons but found I did not hit them consistently enough. Changed to a set of Adams iron with Gold Lite shafts and have never hit the ball better. Actually found that I hit my new irons longer then the graphite shafts but I also think that has to do with the quality of the irons. If you can afford it get fitted but do it with someone you can trust. Ask around on here someone will no a fitter in your area that is good. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / HYBRID Would have to add my vote for the Adams hybrids. Have used them for a few years and they go pretty straight and are consistent on distance. That said I have never heard anyone say anything bad about the Baffler but the price difference is pretty big. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? Played Mollymook Hillside for the first time on Friday with 2 mates. Was supposed to be 3 mates but one of the guys wives wrote off their car as we were leaving, I come from Canberra, so he could not go. Don’t know whether this had an influence but could not get my head in the game. Shot 23 points, my lowest ever and stuggled all day. Must say, one tough course and a must to play for anyone who gets to the South Coast. |

Topic: Golf Talk / GOLFER Rage Played with a guy in a social club who used to throw clubs and swear. One day he threw a club after flubbing a chip shot without looking and he nearly hit one of the group. I will not play with him anymore because it puts me off my game too much. I know heaps of people who swear and carry on and it does not worry me, throwing clubs can be a bit much. If I carry on like that I always find it makes me play worse. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Forgiving 3 wood I use an Adams RPM with a neutral bias, Prolaunch shaft. Some of them have been for sale in the classifieds. Nice club, very forgiving and good off the tee or deck. Only time I don’t hit it okay is when I try to hit it to hard and then it tends to hook. Hope this helps. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'Draw' drivers About 18 months ago I bought a TaylorMade r5 with a draw bias, fixed weights you can not move them. It seemed to get rid of my slice and even promoted a draw in some of my other woods. Lately I have been hitting a number of fairways with relatively straight hits, sometimes with a fade or slight draw. Ask my friends I do not have a consistent swing. The other day I bought a Nike SQ Sumo from one of the members here and guess what I hit the exact same drives. Generally a pretty straight drive with a fade/slice if I like but if I try to hit it too hard it could go anywhere. So does bias mean anything. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Corporate Day - Help Please Played in several Corporate Ambrose days using different handicapping systems but one sticks out the worst. This day was an annual sponsored by a large company. If you did not have an AGO handicap they were allocated on the day after asking about 2 questions. I did not have one then but seeing I had played twice in the last 2 years I was allocated 18, my current AGU is 23. I did not mind as it was just for fun. The organisers of the day allocated themselved nice handicaps, with 2 being given 27. The won the day by about 5 strokes and took home the majority of the prizes, which were all pretty nice. When the Manager of the company for this area found out what happened, he played that day, the sponsorship was pulled and it took about 10 years for the day to happen again. Played in another one where everyone played off the stick, there was a nice first prize, a reasonable last prize (which my group received) and the major prize was a randon draw between the other groups. Everyone seemed really happy with this and no-one was pissed off. Hope everything turns out okay with your day. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? After having 39 points on Monday at Gungahlin Lakes to win C Grade in their Australia Day Open, I had 40 points yesterday (90 off the stick) to win Division 2. Have been having a good run, in the last three rounds I have gone from 25.7 to 22.5. |

Great round there The_Big_Stretch. I notice you are a member at Queanbeyan, where did you play on Saturday? I am a member at Queanbeyan and I reckon it has made me a better player, and most of my mates agree. You have to have good course management there otherwise you quickly learn to hate golf. Topic: Golf Talk / Hot weather Played in 41 degrees at Yowani Golf Club in Canberra one January about 12 years ago. One of my playing partners had a soft sided esky attached to his bag with a bottle of frozen water in it. He also had a block of Cadburys chocolate stored in the esky. When he went to have some chocolate at about the 9th hole the chocolate was liquid. We played the full 18 as we had taken the afternoon off work and had been looking forward to it this afternoon for a while. A storm looked like it was going to come over and it is the first time I have ever wished a thunderstorm to hit while I have been playing golf but it went around Canberra and just made things more humid. Played in 37 degrees at Federal in Feb last year with another member of this forum, wbennett. |
