Topic: Golf Talk / How you handle playing after surgery?

I find it curious that someone mentioned 3 weeks on the advice of a ‘specialist’, which leaves me wondering whether you are from India or Pakistan.

why the bag on India / Pakis ??

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ?
Square is Good ? Sure is, if it’s the right stick !

In the Bag: Clubs and Balls. My Handicap is Bad Golf.

It was a genuine comment based on what I know to be standard surgical practice in those given countries. I could have mentioned numerous ex-Soviet Republics as well as a number of Asian and African nations, but I feel the point was sufficiently made.

So why assume it was a bag? Are you suggesting I’m a racist or a person who would otherwise feel the need to demean peoples based on their racial origin?

I can assure you my compassion for all peoples exceeds the boundaries of your powers of writing comprehension.

Had you seen me for a similar complaint, you would have been advised to wait at least 6-8 weeks depending on your age and general health/fitness.

Cardigan? Really? No kidding, you would wear a cardigan? What is wrong with you Slim? = )

To answer your question though, the Nike mock shirts are nice (SS and LS) you can grab those for around $55 these days.

Adidas turns out some pretty nifty gear too.

Pants from both will set you back about $90 a pair and the jackets from memory are in the $200 region.

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Gloves

Hi Guru,

I’m at the point with my game where I can confidently hit all my drives for good distance and with a consistent fade; however, I can only do that without wearing a glove on my left hand. Whenever I put on a glove, I hook my tee shots. It’s worse with the driver but I can bear the slightly left of line result with the hybrids and the irons. Why would wearing a glove cause this?

Topic: Golf Equipment / SKLZ Gyro Swing

My pro has one and has been using it in some drills with me. You certainly feel it working, particularly on the down swing and through contact; but for me it was other drills that my pro had me doing that really got this for me.

The club does ‘too much’ for you, you don’t do anything. If you owned one and used it all the time I’m sure it would help with muscle memory etc. But when you are using it ad hoc as I was, I found it a bit of a hinderance actually.

The lilttle motor is very loud.

Expensive at $220 USD plus shipping.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Whats yr opinion? - is the 3 wood an endangered species?

I’ve been dropping my 3W in favour of my 2H for the last couple of rounds. Same distance give or take a few feet, but the 2H flight and landing gives me a bit more confidence when playing.

When I hit a 2H off the tee, I get a shot that equals anything I have ever been able to hit with my 3W.

I don’t even own a 5W anymore after picking up a 3H, no use for it whatsoever anymore. Thats in relation to my specific game though, I’m sure everyone is different.

Does anyone have any opinions or words of wisdom in relation to the Superquad or R7 CGB Max drivers?

Topic: Golf Equipment / 3 Hybrid

I replaced my 2i, 3i and 4i with a 2h, 3h and 4h respectively. I also dropped my 5w and picked up an extra wedge as a result. Just don’t need the 5w as the 2h easily performs distance wise. I can hit the 2h around the 215 yard mark give or take.

I bought the Callaway X hybrids and they’re my favourite clubs in the bag at the moment, very versatile and more importantly for someone with my noob ability, some measure of consistency to boot!

I noticed brand new Burner’s in the store today for $255, I would have tired it out based on what people are saying but the only stock they had was the burner draw.

Thanks for all the replies guys, they were helpful.

I ended up going the X-20’s in 5-SW, with a 3 & 4 X hybrid and the 3 and 5 X woods.

I’m thinking I might replace the wedges with some of the X forged in the future but pretty happy for now!

Thanks again.

Topic: Golf Equipment / i love my sumo.

I have the SuMo SQ 5900 and I couldn’t rave on enough about it…but I’ll be nice and won’t subject you to that madness.

A nice, easy to swing club with consistent results. I can still hook it like a champion into the driving range when my hip doesn’t turn enough though!

Topic: Golf Equipment / Advice needed

Hi all,

Stumbled across this site while doing some research and I must say I’m impressed and I figured I would ask for some advice.

I’ve been playing for about 6 months now and I’ve deiced to buy myself a half decent set of clubs. Problem is I’ve narrowed it down to a final 3 sets and I can’t decide which way to go. I’ve tested them all out and they all feel so damn nice.

  • 1 – Callway X20 (even though the sales staff are pushing me to buy the big bertha set)
  • 2 – Nike Slingshot 4D; and
  • 3 – Nike SQ SuMo. This one was a little different as I would get the 5-PW and then the SQ hybrid 3 and 4 iron to complete the set.

I don’t have a handicap, but from what me and my playing buddies can figure it would be around the 20 mark; give or take.

I hit the ball ok, I’m still taking lessons though. I would really just like a nice set of irons that I can grow with.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
