Topic: Golf Talk / British Open TV coverage

I’ve been watching it on fox today, the brits seem to follow one player for longer (i.e. if he is looking at his lie for 30 secs instead of changing camera to another player they’ll stay on the first player.)

Classic example Rocco Mediate played a nice little chip over a bunker and they zoomed in to see is face, kept it on him tight for abt45 seconds in which time you saw him spit four times, pick his nose and watch his players partner play up to the pin (the only reason I knew his playing partner had played a shot was because Rocco stopped picking his nose and his eyes followed the path of the ball), they then finally zoom out and see the playing partners ball come to rest next to the pin

10% off Lind Golf for iseekgolf users – 24 hours only

Hi,

It was nice chatting to you Mr President and yes, we just went live with the new Lind Cart Bag listing.

Our new cart bag is made in the same factory as all of Taylor Mades golf bags. I visited this factory when I was in China last and they wouldn’t let us into the TM showroom however the features and quality of this bag are great. They also make for Orlimar who have some great bag designs.

We reverse engineered a hole of golf and broke it down into actions, then created a bag around that. When using the bag you will realise how logical its features actually are. You quickly realise you’re no longer fumbling around your pockets for tee’s, pencils etc….

Actions:
1) Tee up your golf ball – We put golf 6 elastic tee holders and a golf ball compartment that can hold 6 golf balls on the front of the bag for easy and convenient access.
2) Play your shot – we put 13 full length dividers that go both ways. Your grips won’t cross over and get stuck.
3) Short Game – Isolated putter/wedge chamber for quick access.
4) Take Score – Pencil holder and scorecard holder on the front of the bag.

Visit this page for a full list of features (there are many more):New Lind Cart Bag

I’m feeling generous today. I’ve created a voucher code of “iseekgolf” which is valid for 24 hours and will give everyone 10% off site wide to coincide with the introduction of our new bag. At the end of the checkout is a voucher code box. Simply enter iseekgolf into it and click update. The total will be recalculated with a discount.

So if you’ve been pondering or want to add more Lind gear to your kit, today is your day. Enjoy.

(Bega, I will make sure you receive 10% off as well).

Sincerely,

Brad Lindenberg

Topic: Golf Talk / what club did you hit?

A young guy at my club DQ’d his father a couple of months ago. Apparently his dad asked him what he hit on a par 3, he said “you can’t ask me that” and proceeded to penalise him two shots, his dad thoguht he was joking and didn’t penalise himself and submitted an incorrect scorecard!

That rule featured in the club newsletter the next week!!

Topic: Sports Talk / Super 14 Final

I think if both teams play their best game the Crusaders win, it is rare for teams to play to their potential in finals, so it depends on who is down the best … if that make sense. Crusaders with experience and home ground will be too good

You don’t need to draw pictures in the score card:)

Having said that one of the guys at our club jagged an ace in one of his first ever games, sculled it along the ground and in, he is very embarressed every time someone asks about it (usually in the bar and they notice his name on the honour board)

I thought this forum was for non-comercial use?

I’d agree with you if that was Brad’s first post, but if you look back at this thread it was started by someone else and Brad joined to offer some insight into the club making, processes involved etc. Given the depth of his responses I would say this is an extremely generous offer from a fellow ISGer as opposed to someone trying to flog off random golf gear. I am sure Admin would be on top of anything they thought was inappropriate.

I think Brad and Boz really give an interesting perspective into golf equipment design and marketing and add to the quality of the discussion on ISG – if other posters get something more out of it then just information is that a bad thing?

I think I’m addicted to the Lind website – just ordered the new Lind Cart bag – I’ve now got Lind wedges x 3 and Lind putter, soon to have Lind bag. Better stop now before i end like one of “those people” that have 100% Titlist or Taylor Made or Nike products :)

Impressed with the service at Lind again, they are offering free postage for the Cart bag if you pre order, but as you went through the process the postage charge was included, was able to “live chat” online with Brad from Lind who walked me through getting the postage discounted off.

JUst ordered a 2 ball putter, hoping it will improve my putting from 39 and 43 putts last times out – but looking at getting lessons as well, because it might not be the old putters fault ;)

Topic: Golf Talk / Hit by Golf ball

I was very lucky as a kid, standing to the side of my mate about 10cm in front of him and about 4m to his left (he was left handed) and he has flushed one off the toe at head height. INcrediably i had my driver over my shoulder and it hit flush in the middle of the shaft of the driver right in front of my head. Just before he hit it i’d been thinking I should move, but dismissed it as no one could be that bad to hit it that far right!

PLayed with a guy in Canberra who was playing his first game in 3 years after being hit flush in the head with a drive from an opposite fairway, he’d lost half a dozen teeth in the process. He was very skittish whenever someone called Four!!

Another vote for Little Creatures pale Ale, though it is hard to get in country areas.

Re the Edward 40 Hands – sounds like a good game! At uni we use to compete in Killa Keg – basically teams of ten and raced to finish a keg (i think someone did the math and it worked out at between 12 and 15 middies each, depending on spillage and wastage) was very rare for a team to be going into the 2nd hour. Obviously this was beofre stringent responsible service of alcohol came into play!

Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz

HI Boz;

Sorry it has taken so long to get back with my feedback, unfortunately they decided to scarify the greens at my course just when i went on holidays and had time to play a bit!

So i’ve had 9 holes using both the Distance and the control and the a Laddie to compare to. I won’t comment on putting or amount of spin on the greens because of the maintenance that had been done.

Distance: I struggled with this ball, distance was less then both laddie and control and feel off the club was definitely harder. For off centre hits (of which there were plenty!) it didn’t provide as much forgiveness as the other balls, I did hit one driver out of the screws and it traveled ok, but still short by about 10m of my best ever drive on that hole with a laddie. Consitency was an issue with this ball. No visible scuff marks despite spending some time in the bush

Control: very similar in feel to the laddie and definitely the prefered of the two fantom balls. Ball flight seemed lower then the laddie with a five iron and distance much the same (including one shot where the pitch marks were 5cm from each other!). As mentioned previously both balls had a clicky sound, which isn’t a bad thing, just something i’d have to get used to (that instant feed back from sound was interesting, I hit a couple with the control and immediatly thought I hadn’t middled it due to the sound, but the result was actually pretty good).
Feel on pitch shots was excellent (though no idea how the ball would respond once it hit the green), but i was able to get the ball to land where i wanted it to fairly regularily.

Over all i really liked the Fantom control ball, i’ll do some more comparisons in the coming weeks, but I’d definitely look at this ball as an equivilent of the precept laddie

Topic: Rules of Golf / Ball Stuck in tree

Played yesterday with a young guy who was getting handicap cards.

He played a chip shot and fluffed it into a tea tree sort of bush and the ball gotstuck in the folige at about head height. He basically walked up and gave the branch a shove and the ball fell to his feet and he played his next shot.

I’m guessing he should have been penalised, but I’m not sure of the correct ruling and procedure?

Sorry if this has been covered before

The real hassle is the sand…

Any ideas for getting the bucket around the course with a stand bag?

If i am only playing 9 holes and it isn’t too hot I fill an old water bottle up with sand and put it in the drink holder

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test

I played with a guy that had the yellow ball on Saturday and was very interested to see how he went. Tee shot on the first massive slice onto the adjacent fairway – stuck out like the proverbial even though surrounded by heaps of leaves and twigs and with us walking into the sun.

Second shot came off pure, unfortunately he hit it too well and slightly right into the jungle – no chance of finding a flashing ball with a siren in there let alone a plain old yellow one :)

he seemed impressed with the feel he got on the two shots he hit; can’t obviously comment on the feel whilst putting.

Boz how are you going getting them into pro shops – is it just a matter of enough guys going in and asking for them specifically that forces the shop to stock them; or are you actively approaching pro shops individually?

Topic: The Lounge / US Election

Sorry racinfarmer nothing will convince me Bush is anything but the worst person to run a country.Years from now no one will be able to explain to their children and grand children how he got power and kept it. And how he got away with everything he has done. He is by far the worst president ever.

Golf is about managing failure

Not sure if this is the usual way they do it in the states, but i”ve found it interesting that none of the Republican candidates seem to have taken up any opportunities to have a photo op with the sitting Pres.

i can’t claim to have any knowledge on US politics, except to say that it is an interesting system where GW can climb all the way to the top of the tree. Surely in a country of 250 million you could have done better?

because we, the people, have the ability to defend ourselves from a corrupt and dangerous govenment should the need ever arise again.

If the current administration doesn’t fall under this category, i’d suggest it probably is a wasted “right” – give the guns back; you aren’t using them the way the founding fathers wanted you to :)
