Port Macquarie is probably a little better course than Taree, certainly flatter, but harder to get a start on ( particularly during holiday time)

If I had to throw one more into your list I would probably say Pacific Dunes which is at Medowie (just north of newcastle) and only 10 minutes off the highway.

As St. Andrews suggested, Magenta shores is probably the only other top rated course you have omitted but not sure how easy it is to get on. It is just north of Gosford.

Ronaldo certainly thinks he bigger than the game, doesn’t he. I thought the ref did awfully well not to give him a second yellow when he applauded him earlier. It didn’t take him long to give him a reason to march him.

He doesn’t like it when he is well marked out of a game and Richards certainly wasn’t giving him much room to move.

LPGA Strip golf

Bogie you remove one article of clothing. Double bogie two.

Birdie you can put one piece back on or get a credit for when you need it.

You can start with as much clothing on as you wish.

Courses to be selected from hotter countries.

They would have to play off the mens tees too

Thanks Pamps, Allenby and most importantly my Kiwi friend Timmy Wilkinson for getting me home.

Also thanks to Muntz for his efforts once more.

Thanks also to David Mckenzie. I had 4 bets on the golf on the weekend, backing Lyle, Mckenzie, Townsend and Wilkinson for top 10 finishes. Three of them had maintained my interest thru the final day but only Mckenzie came good. Return of $55 for my $20 outlay was reasonable.

Good luck one and all for next week

Last time I looked Sonab Enzed wasn’t a suburb of australia – not officially anyway.

With the number of Pommies on this website I’m not sure you could claim Webster as an international either!!!

good tip for you with the 000 that helps the young, the old, the infirm…

If you program one of the buttons on your predial part of the phone with the 000 number and then just mark the spot next to it with a conspicuous colour ( bright red is good) you can train a very young kid that if there is a problem, push the red button and speak to the man.

The beauty of 000 is that as soon as you ring, they have your address on the screen in front of them. so even if you have a stroke and can’t talk, they will send someone ( normally the police if they can’t work out what the problem is) to check out the problem.

If you have a house fire all you do is hit the button and leave the phone off the hook as you run out the door. If you have a burglar in the house again you hit the button and leave the phone off the hook if you can’t talk at the time.

Most ( and i say most) of the 000 operators and/or emergency services people would rather come out to check out a glitch ( kid playing with phone) than not be able to attend if you have a real problem.

It doesn’t work with mobile phones though as they don’t know where you are calling from (stating the bleeding obvious i know)

Heh I’m as crap as you. Today 170m par 3, 8 foot from the flag and I SIX putted. Was trying to go November without a 3 putt, and I did, but wasn’t expecting a six putt.

But I was zonked from a late night. 7am tee off wasn’t a good idea.

Could you please elaborate on how you 6 putt from 8 feet!! I’d like a running commentary on that one if you can ( and i’m sure you can remember each and every one of them Steb)

Must be one hell of a green …or one hell of a night out

your point about not enjoying it is the important observation in all this. You are scared of screwing it up and feeling bad. I suffer from fairly big anxiety issues with life due to previous work crap. If I’m not enjoying my golf ( as long as it doesn’t leave anyone else high and dry) I will just walk off the course halfway thru. My normal playing partners understand why i do it and they deal with it. They normally play better when i leave cos i’m not much fun to be around when I’m struggling with life.

That doesn’t mean when i’m playing badly, just when I’m not enjoying it. I can play bad and still laugh my way around the course without a care.

The point is that you should be aiming to have fun, not to play well. Build an attitude that is about enjoying the walk and the company and not worrying about the score. Next thing you know, bingo, a good round will come along. Don’t get excited then, just still go out with the aim of enjoying the walk , smelling the flowers, thinking about all the poor bastards around the world who can’t be out doing what you are doing.

I never practice, I never go out with an aim to improve anything in particular, I just use my golf for exercise, companionship and a good chance to walk around on manicured lawns. God I enjoy it.

I maintain a 10-11 handicap without much issue and without a lot of talent. Mainly because I don’t worry if I have 40 pts or 30pts.

try it and see if it works for you

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend?

Had a game with fellow ISGer Leighdog at Taree today. I returned 33 pts whilst Leigh turned in a creditable 29pts.

environmental conditions were dodgy to say the least with 45mm of rain overnight and another 15mm or so during the course of the game. The weather changed completely at least 7 times varying from blazing sunshine and stinking humidity to pissing rain. These conditions are normally foreign to Taree area, so i totaly blame Leigh for bringing them with him from Sydney

Leigh got off to a slow start due to a long drive up and no real time to warm up. He scratched out 2 pts from the first 3 holes with a couple of balls donated to the water gods. At that time I administered some amateur chiropractic techniques to the young fella which immediately improved his game. He then rattled of a series of 3 pointers finishing out the front 9 with 15 pts.

His game then deteriorated along with the weather and the large amount of casual water inundating the course.

We had to put the game into overdrive for the last 2 holes as the cluds built up and thunder started rumbling about. Bugger me if Leigh didn’t chalk up 7 pts with a par on 17 and birdie on the last while we were rushing to finish

So the obvious key to Leighdogs game improvement is….Rush.

Works for him!!

Good day was had by all.

lefty.

sounds like you just need to find the key to not thinking about your score. some possibles are:-

1. don’t keep your own score on your card. find a marker that you trust and just let him keep it

2. get on the piss halfway thru the round. might make you relax

3. just “smell the flowers”. forget about your score and just concentrate on enjoying the day and the people around you.

4. try and look at each shot like it is on the practice range or the putting green

5. My favourite key to myself when i get a bit choky. I make myself physically smile just before i hit a shot. helps take the negative thoughts away

there are a thousand more possibilities but the trick is to stop thinking about the end result and just think about each shot
