Topic: Golf Equipment / Goodbye to ebay for a while!

I managed to snag a few bargains while it was hovering in the mid 90’s.
Hovering around 72c this morning.

Topic: Golf Talk / how many guys (or girls) are self taught?

Why can the admins not stop this serial tool?

Anyway….
I’ve never had any one-on-one lessons with a pro, but as a junior I took part in a Charlie Earp clinic. No real advice given, Charlie was happy with my swing.

Topic: Golf Equipment / PGF Slammer

My first full set were from PGF. Purchased new back in ‘98.
PGF Status Pro Mid-sized irons. Woods were crap, as others have mentioned, but the irons did their job quite well.

The wife also purchased a set of PGF Chic ladies sticks a few months ago. Seem to be doing a great job for her so far.

Topic: Golf Talk / Lost club, lost faith...

It could show up, give it some time.
But frankly, nothing surprises me anymore.

I lost 2 putter covers a while back, and both were returned within a fortnight. Lost property box worked a treat!

Once I found $800 sitting in an ATM Machine in a shopping complex, The person had withdrawn the cash and forgot to take it from the tray.
So I handed it in to security. The guard couldn’t believe that I actually handed it in!

Not hard to leave a club laying about, have done it a few times myself!
Good luck, and I hope it turns up.

Topic: Golf Talk / Your worst hole ever?

Hole 8 at our local. 2 into the drink off the tee, 3rd went OB. Finished with a 11 and a 3 putt thrown in for good measure.

Hole 3… Par 3.
Landed it on the green, then 4 putted. 5-4 on the scorecard looked ugly!

Topic: Golf Equipment / Oakley Sunnies

Used to wear the $20 specials from the Servos.
Didn’t look after them well, and went through a few pairs over time.
Ended up biting the bullet and purchasing a set of Oakley Monster Dogs. Onto my second pair now (One good pair, one work pair) and haven’t had a drama! Top sunnies.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Most for a club ?

Most I’ve paid… The 3DX Square Driver was around $135 brand new.
My Tri-Ball Odyssey (Used once- Which the wife has now claimed) set me back $100.

Topic: Golf Talk / Sprung!!

I got “sprung” on Saturday. The 10th on our course (South) plays alongside the 17th on the North course. I was heading through the rough for my ball, when I came across a real old tatty looking spalding or something – about 50 metres off the other tee (which you can’t see from where I was). I took a look at it, thought it was “rubbish”, like a practice ball or something, and kicked it. Found my ball about 10 metres on, as I see a couple of guys coming off that tee. One of the guys says “Can I kick your ball too?”. I apologised and carried on, feeling rather embarrassed about the whole episode.

Just goes to show, one man’s rubbish is another mans golf ball!

As a junior I did a similar thing. Was playing on a hole opposite the practice range & found a ball I thought was just a crappy old practice ball. No-one around, so I picked it up & sat it in my sand bucket.
Halfway along the next par 3, a bloke approached me & asked if I had seen a ball anywhere.
The bloke was good about it (Playing socially at the time), so I dropped it back to the position in which I found it, and we both played on.
Lesson learnt!

No honeymoon, just relaxing around home.

I’ve got an Adams RPM LP 3 Wood at home, and it has 2 small dots of rust on the bottom of the club.
Nothing serious, and nothing around the grooves either.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test

They seem to like white balls in the Whitsundays. Haven’t played with colour here, but have lost a few whites over the last year (As have many others)

As a junior in Central QLD, I lost a few coloured balls, and soon learnt to stick to white.
Didn’t have an issue after that.

How about the Lind 3 ball?

No thanks. Am a big fan of the White Steel dual insert, and as far as I can tell Lind only do a Urethane insert.

WTB- Odyssey White Steel SRT Tri-Ball Putter RH
The wife now wants a Tri-ball, after having some success with mine. The size of the head helps her, as she can’t see a great deal!
Am fairly sure the putter I have here is 33” (Am unsure where most putters are measured from)
No rush, as she’s yet to receive her first pay from her new job.
Long shot, but you never know what some people have lying around!

Thanks.

Topic: Golf Talk / How do you prepare mentally ?

I just try to stay as carefree & as calm as possible both before & during the round.
I find that if I focus/concentrate too much before the game I tend to simply try too hard (Lose my swing tempo, grip it too tight, get too tense, try to hit the cover off the ball each time, stupid shot selection etc etc)
When I’m relaxed, it all seems to fall into place.

So really, no mental preparation is my best method!

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend?

Played a quick 9 holes this morning.
Shot 46, with 13 putts.
Quite happy considering the last time I played was July.
Tried the new putter today too. Odyssey White Steel Tri Ball SRT. What a difference!
Not a 3 putt in sight, with numerous 1 putts.

Only issue I’ve had… The laces are absolute crap.
Other than that they’re great.
