Topic: How did you all play this weekend?

I’ve been watching the likes of camilo villegas, jb holmes and anthony kim on telly and have had a recent revelation about weight transfer and clearing the hips.

Still yet to be completely consistent with this new action in the swing but the compression and power generated has led to me hitting my drives about 15-20 further than I usually do.

I had square in a par round on Saturday—got first round of club championships this Sunday and I’m really looking forward to it!

Jules123, my club which is like most works on last 9, then last 6 and if there is still a tie last 3. I play the 12th as my first hole, so effectively my first 7 and last 2 are used for countback. Reckon as you go on you will win as many as you lose, its a bit of a raffle but they need to split it somehow.

Countbacks are usually decided by the better score on the back nine

Hi All

New to this forum and have recently got my handicap (playing off 24). I have a quick question about the results system for a stableford.

I scored 41 points which was equal 1st for points on Sunday.

However, I was put into 3rd place and the two guys who placed 2nd and 1st (who both scored 41, like me) have an acronym ‘ocb’ after their scores of 41… what does this mean?

Next question is obviously why they place higher than me…?

played round with my mates sunday. tried finessing the driver for the front nine and could not hit a fairway. Went back to smacking the piss out of it for the back nine and hit every fairway. funny old game.

Can see improvement in my short irons, which is what i’ve been working on, always good to see results.

36 holes to qualify for the Club Champs, knackered. Shot 76,79 to get in around mid field. Matchplay starts next week.

Played with the brother in law today, got through the front nine and the heavens opened up, so it was back in for lunch. Finished that and skies were blue again, got the back nine in before the clouds closed again.

I shot 83, he shot 68, always a sobering experience playing with someone who’s off +2, but it made me lift my game a shitload when it was needed.

Not a bad way to spend a day off.

steelworks cup today,had 78 nett 70 with 2 birdies on the 1st and 2nd hole then had doubles on the 3rd,9th and 18th.
couldnt putt had 7 makable birdie putts (inside 12. feet)but didnt get one.
got runner up nett if i had dropped 1 of those doubles i wouldve won the nett.

Played Sat and Sun for the first time in around 4 months and played to my hadicap on Sat (8 over) and 2 under on Sun (38 points). I also had an eagle on Sat :)

Had a golf Lesson on Friday arvo after work, did the whole swing on video went inside the pro said my grip was terrible went back outside and fixed it up started hitting the ball a lot straighter.

Played with the new grip on Satruday with a heap of mates at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast, My handicap is 13, i had 1 eagle 2 birdies and finished with a 75 after bogeying the last 2 holes. By that time we had already had 12 beers. Good Fun i cant see myself shooting 75 again so might not play again haha, Na joking i’ll be out there again next weekend!

Strokeplay comp this week.

Shot 88, nett 70.

Had a 7 on the first and went 8 over for the next 14 holes with 3 lip outs and an eagle chip that missed by 4 inches. Then went 7 over for the last 3. Damn.

So nearly my best round ever. Instead of 18 over should/could have been 12 or 13 over.

89 off a 69(par), best score ever for me, beat my hcp by 5 strokes, if this continues maybe I’ll consider getting a official hcp :D

in tough conditions…hail, sleeting rain..sideways winds…I guy who plays off 5 shot 101….

One playing partner who plays off 14 shot 110!!

in fact I bet everyone in my group with my gross score

I finished 2nd…..sank a 50 foot putt for a birdie!

was very very happy…I like the wind though rain is fine also…..its a case of grab a can of hardeb the f—k up pills and go out and play

club champs in 3 weeks..nice to come into some form at the right time

72 net, 90 off the stick, so pretty happy, considering i hit 12 greenside bunkers today! putting was very ordinary, could easily have been low 80s had I made a few putts!

84 at wembley GC in perth….didnt get to play the cut as I had wanted because I got shitfaced on sunday night…and wasnt in any shape to play golf monday!!

Nice mr c i had 3-15 off six and 50 not out in a scratch match this weekend. I did get one bloke out twice though so i’m not sure that should count…

MrC – nice figures mate.
I went out on saturday and had a disappointing 81. parred the first 5 holes, hit the 6th in reg and 3 putted. from there on in i was in bogey city. I hit one fairway from that point. even took a couple of 3 woods off the tee “for safety” and put them in the trees too. 2 weeks til club champs…work to do

Ha thanks mate. Was starting to think noone appreciates quality bowling around here! Best part is that I am leading the club for bowling averages. ;-)
