Topic: Golf Talk / Slow Play and other things Okay boys… my return….. to my original post….. Do we have a jihad (nothing against muslims) against the committees who think and like to think they run the golf course as they have left their career as a lawyer or a business behind that is not golf related…. etc… at age 55-65 and the golf club is their life and they think they have the skills in this day and age to bring it on? Perhaps they need to book a flight to Phuket, play some golf, drink many beers and have a nice time with a massage between rounds of golf, try to have a good round of golf the next day? Perhaps all clubs in Aussie should send their committee members each year to Thailand for golf and business? Slow play? It is painful…..... |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Golf Ball Spin Rate My question to you is why are you using all the Titleist products? Nice product… but you are playing to an 11 handicap?. A Graf Blue Stiff is a rather stiff shaft in your driver and it is a 9.5 deg as your signature says. 100mph on a swing doing it hard? |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / One Plane Swing The most important aspect of the swing is to have solid contact with the ball at impact with the club head square… The ball should go straight but a straight shot is tough to replicate all the time. A good player will either hit it left/right…work it if you like. I would love to be able to hit the ball straight as all golfers would but it is impossible. Hitting a curve ball is golf. Being on/off plane, we all have that problem but it is what your hands do at impact in relation to the club face as well. You can swing it like a fish hook but at impact, everything comes back to the golfing world impact zone. |

Topic: Golf Talk / My game fell apart!!!!! Gribbles…..There is a song called, “waiting on the world to change” by John Mayer. Have a listen to it and think about your golf and your life mate as it may be. It may not be a golf tip but the words in the song are great mate. It is inspiring and golf is about inspiration. I should be headless when I have 3/4/5 over par but I am not mate. To play to my handicap is to have 2 under par for the CCR on the day. I play 2 rounds of golf a week, am at the range before and after work depending on dawn and dusk 5 days a week, i work at a golf course which is a bonus but that is also a negative due to long hours but I find the time. IBF, great player and who cares about him having a brain snap and losing the plot. Not many people really know the reasons why it happened. He is a great bloke, a champion and a gentleman. Small steps can be great as guru has said but take a back seat, knock your head gently against a wall and think what you are trying to achieve mate. Golf is a tough game mate, it also brings everyone back to earth all the time. I have played in events where I shot 75/77 one week and then had 65/66 the next week? Call that a brain snap or too many umpires to the left or right, tree murdering or scuba diving. It happens mate. You learn hopefully, get over it and life goes on mate. My fix for you Gribbles? take a break mate and if you have a mate that is a low..low marker..have a chat to him and pick his brain. All the best, doggystyle…....... |

Topic: Golf Equipment / A few new sticks for a tightarse - how does this sound? Give us a break Aussie Bomber or other people on this forum? Bang drivers go longer? Square heads do have accuracy if you have a swing that is on “song” and apart from that, people will still cut the head off a duck near a lake and re-create gum tree’s to carve out a potential fairway at times with any driver in their hand? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Golf Club Warranty Model Out of Production A place I used to work at has CCTV on a few holes. A certain member known for his temper and purchasing power but being a tightarse as well once bought a driver, brought it back a week later with a caved in face. It was replaced with another driver of the same value as he didn’t want the 1st one again. No problems. He then brings back his 2nd driver a few weeks later with a crack in the crown. We sent it off to the manufacturer and it was replaced. No problems. Again, he brings back his 3rd driver to the pro-shop, blows up thinking the pro is a shonky dude as the driver was “caved in”. After showing this customer the CCTV footage from a tee-off area, there was a problem this time. We never saw this member again (he left the club) and he did not get another driver. 3rd time un-rucky or un-lucky…...... |

Topic: Golf Talk / Slow Play and other things racinfarmer, committee’s are always going to be at a course. Form one about it or a-boot it. I’d like for some to be booted personally but not were I work, just from previous places of work. golfinator, slow players do have as much right to be on a golf course but they need to learn a few things like consideration for players behind them. Yes, there are also faster players who get pissed off and these players need to consider the slow players in-front as they were once slow players or beginners. What is the limits for being a certified hacker if I may question? Which handicap makes you a certified hacker? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / What Driver to get??? Janjuc, Off the top of my head, I could name many brands (drivers) that will crack under 12 months. These are um..quality mate that go for prices between $50-$200. They crack on the crown and also near the heel and not from having a dummy spit on a concrete tee block. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Slow Play and other things Hi guys, i work at a course and one of my “jobs” is to start/call the members comps. It is a large club with huge fields on a Saturday, sometimes up to 320 players. (more than an 18 hole operation). So guys, slow play is the result of many variables out on the course. It sure is not the fault of the starter or the ranger, the scorekeeper etc. You could say I am having a bitch but I am not. I just hope this post makes many golfers think about what they do on a course. Calling through groups, do not mark your card on the green, do not talk about knitting, do not leave your cart/buggy in-front of the green….. It would be interesting to have comments from other people here who may do the same job or from you, the Saturday member playing in a comp. |
