Topic: Sports Talk / apparently it was the clubs fault: greg birds sister I can’t believe his girlfriend declares her love for him, & that she’ll support him through this ordeal. I wonder what story Bird & his dumb girlfriend are going to come up with to explain the injuries – Greg was practising his offloads with a glass & it accidently hit me in the face. |

Topic: Golf Talk / LPGA instigates must speak english rule When sponsors are paying $2,500 US to play in the pro am, I’m sure they would like to talk to the players & maybe get a tip from them. If I paid that money & the pro I played with couldn’t talk to me I would not want to play in the pro am again. I’m sure most sponsors want to play with Gulbis, Kerr, Creamer etc anyway, so if you missed that trio (which is most likely), you wouldn’t want a player who ignored you all day because they are embarrassed about their poor english. Money rules the world. Without sponsors there are no large purses to be won. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stupid question - Why do people carry their clubs? You know why pros don’t carry bags. One, they can afford to pay someone & two, it upsets the muscles & posture in your body, when you are trying to hit consistent shots. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Golf at the Olympics Let the pros play singles & foresomes matchplay for gold & not money, it will only help the host nation with extra finances through tickets & tv rights, plus promote the game of golf world wide. Top 16 after US Masters qualify in the world but only 1 from each country in singles, top 16 in the world plus partner in foresomes, singles in first week & foresomes in second week. NB: if it wasn’t for football in the olympics, the host nation would go broke. The total crowds for the football are greater than all the other sports put together. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Hitters and swingers Tiger claims that when his swinging is off, he tries to hit the ball & has a tendancy to flip his wrists, but when he starts switting (swing hitting) the ball, it all falls into place & his rhythm is back. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Dropping in the slot secret The flashlight drill will at least make you understand the feel of coming down on plane, you’ll be amazed at what on plane feels like (very strange an illusion created by your own eyes) – most people’s light beam hit the wall one third of the way up – OTT. |

Topic: Golf Talk / do Harrington and Sergio get on? When you’re trying to focus to win a major title, I don’t think anyone would be laughing & chatting, the blinkers come on so to speak, unless your 4 in front like Paddy was playing the last in the Open. Stats say it all. If Sergio could putt under pressure he would have won maybe 4 majors by now. Paddy won the PGA with his putting. The old saying drive for show & putt for dough. |

Topic: Golf Talk / harrington Top class golfer who doesn’t think about winning. That’s why he’ll never choke. He may now really step up & challenge Tiger in the future as he has nothing more to prove in major golf. Love the accent. Just tremendous. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Driving distance Most “A” grade golfers average 230m no wind & on the flat. They can get a 300m drive away allbeit down hill & with wind assistance. The longest drive on the PGA Tour this year is close to 390m, & yes it was downhill & with wind assistance. The shortest longest drive boomed out by the pro’s the other week on the PGA Tour (where Vijay won) was 230m uphill & directly into the wind. So distances are very much reflective of the site & conditions. |

Topic: Sports Talk / SBW we were all wrong Rugby in France is the poorest code of Football. The French consider the players all uneducated thugs. Rugby doesn’t even get a mention in the French press, but their 4th division Football (soccer) makes headlines. My oh my is SBW disillusioned if he thinks he is going to become a famous star in French rugby. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Norman: In Two Minds at British Open I think he choked. His record says it all. Leading at the start of play on the final round in 8 majors & winning 1. Leading 5 majors teeing off on the 64th hole & winning 1. His greatest wins have been when he is not really in contention (not leading & not expecting to win) & then he makes a charge during the final round shooting 6 or 8 under to win. Normans biggest problem, & he has suffered this all his career, is, knowing he’s got himself in a position to lose something he wants so badly – this is what causes him to choke/play poor golf/unable to exert pressure on others/make bad decisions etc. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Sonny Bill Williams! A dog? Real football (soccer) is the only code that will prosper in Australia. The Asian market love Football & the A League will one day be part of that 3 billion population. The Asians have no interest in League, Union or AFL. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Sonny Bill Williams! A dog? David Gallop (NRL) needs to start up a new competition (like the A League FFA) within 5 years or else League will die in this country. The pinnacle of League is playing in the NRL yet they can’t afford the players. Offer 12 franchises 1 in every major city including Newcastle & Wollongong plus New Zealand to the highest bidders (like the Indian Premier League), then each franchise can pay the players what they want. If they go broke, someone else will fill the void. Eventually the franchises will pay the players what they can afford. Then watch Dunny Bill Squllions come running back to the NRL. Over the last 5 years SBW is the highest paid player in Rugby League throughout the world, 59 games, average time on the pitch 55 minutes, total pay $1.42m, pay per game $24,000. |
