Topic: Golf Talk / Disappointed with Rockbottomgolf

Don’t even get me started. I am still fighting for them to replace/refund my cracked driver after 5 minutes use.

So far they have generously offered me:

a) Nothing.

then as of yesterday:

b) $15

Wow, their generosity is jaw-dropping!

Hope my driver/irons/putter dont break too…all from RBG.
How much did you pay for your driver?

Is it even legal? Are they allowed to advertise a 15% sale, but put their prices up about 20%???

Topic: Golf Equipment / Which wedge is better?

I am looking at a wedge set to get from RockbottomGolf. There are 2 that i am quite interested in, as they are quite cheap. They are:
Ben Hogan Sure Out (2-wedge set) – US$69.99
Simac Powersphere (3-wedge set) – US$69.99
Which do you reckon is better?

Topic: Golf Equipment / Simac Powersphere Wedges

Are they the ones available from Rockbottom? Some other sites are advertising them as Simac Burrows. I have a 3 wedge set from Burrows, and they look very much like the Simac, except the simac has the rusted look (colour?), while my Burrows has this shining composite metal tri-wafer look.

If Simacs are the re-badged Burrows, then my comments may be of help. The wedges are well made, and easy to hit. Their bounce combinations suit my golf course. The 60 degree has some bounce but not as much as my other 60 degrees, so it needs some getting used to or else chopped deep into the ground. As to club face, although it is big, grooves are not as wide or as sharp as the newer ones, so do not get much spin. They cannot be expected to compare to zipped grooves or micro-milled wedges. But I suppose for a set of 3 at the price of one Cleveland wedge, they can be used to hack around.

Incidentally, the softer metal (copper) part of my my tri-metal sand wedge seems to wear out faster than the steel part, so if you are particular, the sole looks a bit odd after the club has been used for a while.

Hope this helps.

Yea – it is the one from rockbottom
Have you seen the Ben Hogan ones? Which one do you reckon is better (both are US$70, but the hogan comes in a 2-set while the burrows/simac come in 3)

the standard burners already have a 1.5 degree closed face, the draw has 2 degrees closed. i have the draw one, and it does produce a constistent draw – and it is very forgiving.

Just wondering, you know how RBG every so often have their 10% off discounts, do customs take the discounted price or the original?

Topic: Golf Talk / eBay "Blacklist"

Hi,
If we name ebay names could we face some repercussions? open to lawsuits?
Cheers

Naming someone and listing eBay account details is frawt with danger. Unless you have documented proof to back up you’re allegation, yep fair chance you could land yourself in deep doo doo.

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish…..

well i guess we better not name anyone then….
so please dont name names!!

Topic: Golf Talk / eBay "Blacklist"

hmm if you have an axe to grind with an eabyer user…grind them, ebay is mostly fantastic…..

I will say this for the 300 million enth time…I have seen Fake gear in legit golf shops like drummonds golf….yet I have never bought a fake yet because I do my homework properly

even if you do get a fake on ebay I find its just a much as the buyers fault for not doing thier homework properly

plus the money I have saved would be in the thousands over the years…so so what If I get burnt once..I would still be miles ahead in win loss column in terms of dollars

I wouldnt play the game if it wasnt for ebay…with two kids to feed….gear is affordable with ebay

imagine if I had to pay 4 bucks for every ball….

saw on another post you bought 3 cg12’s on ebay, claiming they were legit, just wondering who was the seller? I am unsure whether the ones i have seen are real or fake.

Well took them into a golf shop to be lengthed by an inch and he saiud yeo they are legit

the seller has sold several wedge sets and I emailed other buyers (though ebay messaging) of these wedges and they were all happy with them…no one reported a fake

so if this seller is the one i am thinking off…he sells a couple of 3-sets of cleveland wedges each day? He sells cg12, sometimes cg11, cg10, dsg? he also sells them in different colours (black pearl/white satin/chrome/copper)? he has close to 99% positive feedback? based in melbourne?

For the safety of all of us, why dont we create a list of all the ebayers you know that are fraudulent sellers, selling fake golf equipment. Please make sure that you are 100% certain, preferably through a past experience.

Please list their ebay name, and what the fake item was.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Wedges

I just invested in set of 3 clevealnd CG12…cost me $230 from ebay and yes they are legit…..awesome wedges

investing in good wedges is just about the best thing you can do…..the amount of par saves good wedges can save is undeated…that said you still need to practice with them…..

But I do laugh when i see guys with 500 dollar drivers and crap wedges and balls..and wonder why the ball doesnt stop!!

Did you buy them in a 3-set?
Who was the seller?
I have seen some in a 3 set but i am unaware whether it is fake or real.

A guy in Golf Mart told me this – is it true? Apparently “tour” has been used just to distinguish between the new burner and the old one.

Topic: Golf Equipment / callaway x460?

as an aside these are my other drivers with lead tapes:

Oohh i still adore that classic Calaway great big bertha (250cc head) that kinda ‘revovultionalised’ driver technology for lots of golfers back then…mid to late 90’s !

after that the so-called era of the increasing head size to the limit we now have of 460/470cc ! (USGA of 460 + 10 cc allowance)

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ?
You sure Square is Good ? Don’t Think So !
Good Golf is Fun plus the Great Outdoors…
In the Bag: Clubs and Balls. My Handicap is Bad Golf.

what exactly does the lead tape do??

Topic: Golf Equipment / Drivers with Moveable SCREWS

My hybrid has changeable weights in it.
When i bought it, it was setup for a draw. I normally draw it, so this thing turned over real hard. Now that i have 14,14 weights in it, it goes mint.

Yes the weights do make a difference, but the swing more importantly does.

is this hybrid of yours the TM rescue dual??

Anyone got one? Would appreciate some feedback on them. Do they work for you? Looking at something like the r7 Superquad or CGB Max. Do they straighten a fade/slice?
