Topic: My clubhead snapped off - what now?

Had the same problem with my 4 month old Adams BUL5000. Head came straight off the shaft and went 50 odd metres in front of me – shaft snapped off the hosel (aldila shaft)..
Took it back to where I bought it from without my proof of purchase – some golf companies do not give a warranty on clubs used at the range (so the golf shop pro told me), he said he would talk to Brosnan (the distributor of Adams in Aus) . Rang the next day, they are reshafting it for me for free.
I would take it to your local stockest of Cleveland and ask if they can help out, they may be able to do the warranty work for you like my sitatation.

Dan

Dan
that’s scary cos i have a Bul 5000 driver too
about the 6 months old but used only 2-3 x on the course

hope the head stays sane and dont decapitate…..

bought it over the net so may not have as much luck as you in getting the shaft re-done if it breaks…touch wood :)

did you imply that you snapped the shaft on the range ?
and if the shaft snapped on the course it’s under warranty ?

frankly, who (except U ) can tell the diff whether it snapped on the range or not ?

Topic: My clubhead snapped off - what now?

I was at the driving range today testing out my new Cleveland Hibore 5 wood. First outing – i was hitting them really well. With about 4 balls left, the head snapped off the shaft.

I am now wondering what i should do. I was told i should go to the place where i bought it – only thing i got it off ebay.

I have contacted the guy i got it from, but i havent got a reply yet. Hopefully he should reply soon.

I am wondering whether it was a faulty product, a fake, or just bad luck? (how can i tell if it is fake or not – i am sure it is real, i was hitting it well and it went very well too. Only thing a bit weird was the sound – a bit tinny – are Hibores meant to sound like that?)

Anyone else had a problem – what did you do?

gotta stop swinging it like daly for a start lol

yup, all of ya who doesn’t at any time in your golfing life (not once) swing like Daly or Aussie Bomber…please confess

i must say at times when confronted with a ‘drivable’ par 4 or a second shot to the green on a par 5 i psyche myself up thinking i could generate a 150 mph club speed…luckily sometimes the rational mind takes over….

Topic: My clubhead snapped off - what now?

actually i ve not encountered a situation like yours
i was just suggesting
have u written to the seller and enquire ? (1st step)
then has he replied ?

if so, what did he said
best is to settle this between u and seller

if not u may write to paypal explaining your siutation and see how they can resolve this…..
pics may help with ebay item no. quote

i do not think that postive feedback would affect your dealings with paypal…

i am sorry i do not have the answers but in theory that is what i would do.

lets put it this way, you ahve nothing else further to lose except this broken driver for fix
and if you dont try you wont know ?

first try to ask for a replacement from the seller if possible
if the seller refuse
then report to paypal that you got a faulty product and seller is refusing to entertain…..

i should think this is logical

Ok

now i am just wondering, is there always that slight possibilty that the head will break off on all genuine clubs? Or is it because the club might have been a fake?

Yes, genuine or not, all clubs are prone to breakage – you would expect a genuine to have less chance of breakage due to better quality control and materials. – do u have a pic?

Is it broken where the shaft connects to the head? or is it actually the head is broken? if its just the shaft bit, then many clubs are prone to break there due to it being a weak spot – also, driving range mats are particularly harsh on the wear and tear of a golf club.

as mentioned earlier, Phoenix Sports are changing hands to Srixon as distributors for cleveland, starting July. The phoenix sports repair section closed a couple weeks back, so you won’t be able to send it back to them for repair.

Reshaft might be your only option

Not knowing your handicap is it possible you hit a couple high in the heel & then the next one you hit in the middle causing the failure? I see new clubs destroyed all the time at the range.

Home on The Range

no, i was hitting them sweet out of the middle – nearly reaching 200m

Interestingly, Cleveland have been aquired by Srixon and from the 1st of July, it will all change.
Cleveland have been madly selling stock off over the last couple of months. You might have a hard time getting anything done from the old Cleveland after the due date.
I think that the prices of Cleveland golf gear will come down in price after the 1/7/08 under the new Srixon administration.
Jon…

ps: Best bet is to just go and have it properly reshafted.

If you paid by PayPal you have a chance by going to complaints and indicate you have a faulty product,(or fake). In any case you have to report to the supplier, the problem and ask what is he prepared to do., to initiate a complaint, like you have done.

Contact Cleveland themselves and ask them about it. If you got it off eBay, there is the chance that it is fake. If Cleveland doesn’t do anything about it, have yourself fitted for it and get it reshafted.

Topic: TaylorMade Burner Draw Drivers

yeah I have the standard burner and it goes well also.

The draw version is great if youre a slicer….

I still have the 46 inch shaft in mine…Im 6ft…meh if I need control I grip it down slightly…downwind when Im feeling confident I will grip it right on the end and let it fly.

Like the look of the new burner tour

I bought one for $360 in Singapore october last year and the price has plummeted since. I am a consistent slicer and it has helped me heaps. As an approx 18 marker I can now make most fairways and average 200-230m. I would not swap it for quids. The main thing is the huge sweet spot. To me this is the epitome of game improvement clubs. One tip is that it comes with either 45.5” or 46” shaft which is way too long for me. I reduced it to 44” and have seen many more fairways. A mate who doesn’t slice much bought the ordinary Burner and is also very happy. A no risk purchase for hackers IMHO

Topic: TaylorMade Burner Draw Drivers

these are perfect for beginners – have a stretched out 460cc head, giving you a large address area to give confidence – (more stretched than the standard burner) – they do sit closed, but for a slicer this is what u want. The burners are a long driver, how much longer will u hit it than your current driver, hard to say, everyone is different. If u got a big slice now, i highly doubt u will start hitting a hook – it will most likely help to correct the slice, making it not as bad – will it fix it completely? probably not, again, that is inherent to the person and their swing.

They are selling for below $400 atm, and they are being discontinued, so u can pick yourself up a bargain

hope that helps =)

Used them.

they are MEGA shut and draw biased. if you slice, it will help. but not always fix as there is obviously swing problems causing a slice…....

RRP is the same as the burner $469 i think, but you should pick up cheaper if you work with the salesman/woman.

if you want one, get it soon, as they are soon to be discontinued and have not been informed of a replacement

With the new XLS there is a transparent piece of plastic you look throught it over the silver sticker you should be able to see the Cleveland logo. I think it will take a while for the fake to imitate that.

Well, my Pipe 002 arrived today, ordered Thursday last week, four days to WA, sensational!

Looks and feels really good, I’ll get down to the course tomorrow and see how far I can throw it! 8)

Brett

cool
so did you buy a few other things to mkae up the postage?
i had a look at the site the other day, noticed they had some specials using “coupons” – did you use any?
the one i saw was $10 off postage when you spend $99.
i have heard that they have different ones all the time…anyone know of any good current ones? (i heard there was a 10% off, but i dont know if it has expired yet/in use anymore) – whats the code? anyone know/used it?

Slice – if you join the email list the deals are better. For example, you only have to spent $65 ( not $99) for the $10 off postage “coupon” which equates to a 15% discount. The same applies to other offers.

You really are a man after a bargain:) It’s a shame a bargain ain’t a bargin if you don’t have any use for it :P
